  2. OK... This gets a bit gross, maybe, but I think people have a need to know about it. From USA Today: More Than 200 Hit by Parasite From Del Monte Vegetables; Symptoms Can Include 'Explosive' Bowel Movements
  3. Ron's Wikipedia page says he was born in New York City; so he has a New York accent, in general. However, some New Yorkers also have accents more specific to what part (borough) of the city they're from.
  4. Does your TV provider carry AntennaTV? That's 1 of those cable channels that shows reruns of (mostly classic) TV shows (sitcoms plus episodes from the Johnny Carson-hosted era of The Tonight Show) & is usually carried as a digital subchannel of your local affiliate of 1 of the major broadcast networks (CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox). In most cities (except here, with our NBC affiliate), the major networks are at the (for example) ".0" position of your local digital channel numbers, with other, usually smaller & mostly cable-only, networks--like AntennaTV--in the positions starting at the (for example) ".1" position of your local digital channel numbers. For example, NBC would be at channel 13.0 on your digital TV box & AntennaTV would be at 13.1 (or 13.2, 13.3, 13.4, etc.) on your digital TV box. If it's carried at all where you live, it should also occupy at least 1 channel number on your cable TV/satellite TV provider. Anyway, if you have AntennaTV, they're carrying what will soon be the "classic" version of Murphy Brown. At least it'll be the "classic" version of the show once the revival version of Murphy Brown starts airing on CBS on Thursday nights this fall. Murphy Brown airs on AntennaTV Monday-Friday nights at 11PM Eastern; Saturdays & Sundays at 5PM Eastern.
  5. @rcc: As the person who started the thread, I appreciate the comments. I just always thought (especially since I had posted about a fatal case involving a different strain of Vibrio, that shellfish-related, illness-causing bacteria I posted about at the start of the thread, in 1 of the other threads where it really didn't belong, sometime late last year or earlier this year) there should be a place to discuss important food-related news like this. Especially since at least some, if not many, people might have somehow missed hearing about 1 or more food recalls (as you said, you'd only heard about the cereal recall, of all that were posted about before it), & as scary as it may sound, the information about a food recall, &/or cases of food poisoning &/or other food-borne illnesses, may potentially save someone's life if it gets out there where they can find out about it (or, things may go the other way if someone who needs it doesn't get this type of info).
  6. After reading this, I went to Walmart's site to check their Cheez Balls/Puffs situation out, again; especially since a lot of Amazon's food prices are ridiculous for 1 package, &/or they make you buy a multiple package configuration (which you usually don't want) to get anywhere near a "reasonable" price per package in said multiple package configuration. I'm really careful when I buy snacks & stuff from Amazon; I don't buy multiple packages of the same item unless I already know I like it or I'm pretty sure I will if it's the first time I'm trying something. Having said that, I have managed to get some OK deals on single package items but I can get really pissed they save the really reasonable prices for PrimePantry members, though I also know that's how they do things. The Balls/Puffs are still listed there for $1.98 each, regardless of whether you want the Balls or the Puffs. But they're also still listed as being out of stock there.

From USA Today: Denis Ten, Olympic Figure Skater and Bronze Medalist, Dies After Stabbing in Kazakhstan He was only 25 years old & his stabbing was in connection with trying to stop the theft of some items from his car (someone was trying to steal the mirrors off of his car). He was also the first Kazakh Figure Skater to win an Olympic Medal. He won the Bronze Medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

  11. Zola said: I think the Skinhead was the signal guy/the lookout for the shooters. They do mention a signal guy in the aftermath of the shooing, at the beginning of S2. And Gina kicks herself mentally because she saw the guy, but she can't give the ID agent on the scene after the shooting a description of him. Which is more than kind of a bad thing for a supposedly excellent Secret Service Agent, as Gina's supposed to be. POTUS & his entourage weren't actually at a Convention Center. They were at a real-life building, The Newseum. It's an interactive museum promoting free expression & the First Amendment to the US Constitution (the right to free speech), while tracing the evolution of communication. At the time this episode was filmed, it was located in Rosslyn, Virginia (part of the Virginia suburbs in the metropolitan Washington, DC, area; as I remember, Rosslyn is also mentioned in the show in the aftermath of the shooting). It later moved to Washington, DC, where it remains today. I'm not sure this is the right place for your post, necessarily (well, you asked). I'd have probably put it in the S1 thread or the All Episodes Discussion thread instead. It didn't really seem to me you were expressing an unpopular opinion.

  13. This thread is for posting information on food recalls, whatever may have caused them to be issued (bacterial contamination causing illness/hospitalization, foreign object contamination [such as glass or metal shards accidentally finding their way into packaging] in the packaging process, mislabeled packaging [such as packages falsely stating a known food-type allergen, such as peanuts or gluten, either is or isn't in the product], etc.). The thread title kinda sucks, but it's the best I could think of. I think it's an important enough issue--as knowing about a food recall could potentially save someone's life--to warrant a separate thread rather than being buried in the Small Talk thread, which isn't even supposed to be for food-related talk, or in What's for Dinner? (the 2 most likely existing threads where this might be discussed), where it also doesn't fit. Here's a recall I just found earlier today: From USA Today: Don't Eat Crab Meat From Venezuela, CDC and FDA Warn Amid Multistate Outbreak Fresh crab meat from Venezuela is infected with the Vibrio parahaemolyticus virus, which has infected at least 12 people across the country, including 4 hospitalizations, as of Friday. People sickened by the virus have been found in Maryland, Louisiana, Pennsylvania, & the District of Columbia. The crab meat can commonly be found in plastic tubs; it might be labeled as "pre-cooked". If can be served chilled or reheated. Symptoms, which usually develop within 24 hours of infection by the bacteria, include watery and sometimes bloody diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, nausea, fever, and stomach pain. Consumers are being advised to ask their grocers and restaurants where their crab meat comes from before buying it. Retailers should not be selling the infected meat. **** Also from USA Today: Up to 100 Salmonella Infections in 33 States Linked to Kellogg's Honey Smacks Cereal This is a continuing recall originally issued in June **** Another from USA Today: Hormel Recalls 220,000 Pounds of Spam Over Metal Contamination Fears This recall was originally issued in May

  16. I thought the Vanilla Coke was like drinking a Coke with the powder from a compact in it. And I normally like vanilla foods/drinks.
  17. Regarding the bolded: I don't think that was it, necessarily--that he wasn't talented enough. After all, he did get an Emmy nomination for his guest starring role in the Police Story episode that was the pilot for his other, more short-lived, series David Cassidy: Man Undercover. He had to have the skills/chops to be able to do something special enough with that role for the Emmys to have recognized him for it. I think at least part of why his career maybe/probably didn't go like he wanted it to/was hoping it would was perhaps because of who his dad (& maybe, somehow, his stepmother) was--a Tony-winning character actor/singer who (I think, at least) was respected in his field (& his stepmother was an equally-respected Oscar-winning actress/singer). I think perhaps there were people who, unfairly, compared him to his father professionally & decided he didn't have whatever it was that his father had which made him--David's father--the star he became.

  19. They are called Local Flavors. I haven't tried either; while I like peach, I'm not sure I'd like it as just a soda flavoring (as opposed to a company making a peach soda like they make an orange or grape soda--so it looks like the flavor & isn't just the flavor in a caramel-colored soda). I'm not necessarily a raspberry fan. If I tried either, it would be the peach flavor. I didn't even know about the new flavors until I read your post, though it seems like they may have been available for a few months already, if I'm reading this right. As far as the other "regular" Coke flavors go, I like cherry (including Cherry Coke Zero); I can't stand vanilla (good in a milk-based drink, but not in a caramel-colored soda); & I really wish they'd bring back Coke Lime or make Lemon-Flavored Coke (which I think they had as a Diet Coke flavor in other countries, if not here).
  20. Let me preface this by saying, at least so far, I don't watch their show Killing Eve, but I have heard of it. The thing of it is, as probably most people know, if both actresses were nominated in the same category & either had a good chance of winning they probably would cancel each other out because they're from the same show, & someone else from another show would get the win. At least this way the show, in general, has a shot at something, & hopefully Comer (& Oh) might get future nominations if the show isn't a "1 (season) & done" thing. As someone else said upthread, probably the best way to get them both nominated, when they're both doing the work of lead actresses, & to give them both a chance to win, is to "commit category fraud" (put 1 of them in an award category based on who their competition might be, to hopefully give them a better chance at winning in general, as opposed to putting them in a category they should be in, based on whether their role/the amount of work they did is closer to a Leading or Supporting role, thereby perhaps/probably lessening their chances for a win). In this case, committing "category fraud" for (probably) Comer's nomination. Here, that would mean putting Sandra Oh (probably) up in the Lead Actress category & Jodie Comer (probably) up in the Supporting Actress category though, arguably, they apparently were more like co-leads. At least that way both would hopefully have a better chance at getting a nomination, & they wouldn't cancel each other out because they're on the same show & in the same category, & they wouldn't let somebody from another show snag the award, if Oh & Comer were both nominated & seen as the frontrunners.
  21. I was gonna say that Joyce Bulifant actually only had 4 husbands (that I knew of), but reading her Wikipedia page shows that she actually was married 5 times, as you said. Her 4th husband, according to Wikipedia, was a man with the unusual name of Glade Bruce Hansen. It appears he wasn't involved with anything remotely Hollywood--acting, singing, directing, writing, producing, etc.--& they were only married for about a year, 2000-2001, between her marriages to TV writer/producer/director William Asher (who was also married to Bewitched star the late Elizabeth Montgomery, as well as being a writer/producer/director on the show) & the just deceased character actor Roger Perry (who I thought was either still married to JoAnne Worley or who had died years ago). I recently (a few months ago, or so) read an interview with her, done by a syndicated news service & published as a feature in my local Sunday paper (& other papers all over at least the US). It turned out she wrote a book, My Four Hollywood Husbands, in 2017, about exactly what it says in the title. It apparently doesn't mention the non-Hollywood husband or that marriage. But it does talk about the other 4 marriages, to husbands who had more than just being married to her & being men in common: they all worked in Hollywood/the entertainment industry in some capacity (husbands 1, 2, & 5--James MacArthur, Edward Mallory, & Roger Perry--were all best known as actors. MacArthur was the original Danny "Danno" Williams, in 10 or 11 of the 12 seasons of the original version of Hawaii Five-O; Mallory played the original, or 1 of the earliest versions of, Dr. Bill Horton on NBC's daytime drama Days of Our Lives; & Perry, as said in his obit, was a character actor whose guest role in the original Star Trek is 1 of his better known works, & husband #3, William Asher, was a TV show creator, writer, producer, & director probably best known for Bewitched), & they all were alcoholics.

  23. According to this, the 6th & final season will be released on DVD (only) on October 23rd. And there WILL be extras. For those who don't wanna scroll all the way down to where they talk about the 10/23 DVDs (which is pretty far), the linked info says there will be Deleted Scenes, a Gag Reel, Inside Looks - First Look, The New Agent, Double Agents, The Jennings, Hidden Messages, The 80's, Favorite Scenes, Saying Goodbye.
  24. Sara Gilbert recognized Laurie on The Talk yesterday, for the Emmy nomination she got for the revival season. She mentioned that Laurie had won a Tony & been nominated for an Oscar & an Emmy all in the same year, this year (which gives her 3/4 of an EGOT--the acronym for the names of the 4 major entertainment industry awards [Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony]--in nominations alone for the year), & that was something that was very hard for 1 person to do (& winning all 3--or all 4--of the major entertainment industry awards in the same year would be even harder; like a pro tennis player winning all 4 major tennis championships or a race horse winning the Kentucky Derby, Preakness & Belmont Stakes, horse racing's Triple Crown, in the same year [although the Triple Crown has actually been won twice in the last 3 years]--My Comment), & Sara said she loved her. .
