  1. Clearly the solution is for American girls to start wearing burqas. There's no way Fox News could have a problem with that, right?
  2. He knows what Americans want to hear.
  3. I have no major complaints about The Daily Show with Trevor Noah. This may be because Jon Stewart was never the reason I watched The Daily Show in the first place. The writing hasn't suffered without him - I think it's actually been helped because now they can't get lazy and have Jon rely on his running jokes or silly voices. The correspondent pieces were (and still are) my favorite part though (another UO: currently I like Jordan Klepper the most). The guest interviews aren't great but I don't watch talk shows for the guests anyway. In the posts/articles I've seen about the show being RUINED FOREVER, it seems to be the same complaints as when Jon was the host (Only picks on conservatives/isn't harsh enough on conservatives, cares more about getting a laugh than covering the issues/not enough actual jokes, etc.)
  4. Trevor did make a point on Monday's show about how people are talking about Cruz's "department of commerce" mistake instead of talking about what will happen if he shuts down the 5 departments. Of course he still makes the obvious jokes when the opportunity arises but the show still covers serious topics. And Jon was definitely not above going for easy laughs: mocking Lindsey Graham's accent, comparing Mitch McConnell to a turtle, rants about the proper way to eat pizza, etc.
  5. Hey, Nicki Minaj was willing to work with him. Are you suggesting she isn't some great feminist icon of our time?
  6. Stephen likes Tropic Thunder? He's dead to me.
  7. Grindelwald is Wizard Hitler though. If Hermione kills him, Dumbledore will never become the master of the Elder Wand.
  8. "But she's my Stefania. I mean... I mean she's my ex-Stefania. No no, I mean you're my Stefania now... baby."
  9. "Black Or White" by Michael Jackson. I just made a bunch of people feel old, didn't I?
  10. Are you talking about on The Last Leg when the cat ruined Adam's speech about gun violence? (Also they never got to talk about his book.)
  11. I would stay for the food if that was a part of the lecture, but I agree about the segment being a waste of time. Jeb!'s new slogan ("Jeb can fix it!") made me think of two things: Bob the Builder and Jimmy Savile. That's not great for two reasons: 1. Savile was a child molester. 2. Obama already ripped off Bob with "Yes we can." And that's without getting into the jokes people are making about fixing the 2000 election and the Bush family being above the law.
  12. "We get over a million channels from the far reaches of the galaxy." "Do you get HBO?" "No, that's extra."
  13. 20 years ago. THOH5 was the last time.
  14. I would assume the guy knew that Stephen was a comedian doing a bit for his show and didn't expect him to take it seriously. It's not too different from some of the bits Conan does.
  15. Did I see a different lie detector piece than you people? The one I got seemed like classic Colbert.
  16. So basically Hitler chose the wrong career.
  17. There's a TV show in Australia called The Weekly with Charlie Pickering, which many people have labelled a Last Week Tonight copycat. The Weekly did a similar piece about mental illness about a month ago, so I guess they're even now.
  18. I'm not loving this season either but I think Mark has seriously misunderstood Jake and Amy's characters if he thinks they "were never really friends before the show tossed them together."
  19. I haven't seen the episode yet but this does not surprise me at all. The two things you can expect in any Modern Family episode thread are negativity and a lengthy discussion about Ariel Winter's body.
  20. Luke in the first 3 seasons, Lily since season 4.
  21. I agree with the people who were underwhelmed by this episode. I suppose it's good that they're moving forward with Jake/Amy but I hope the writers will give it a break for the next few episodes. Best moment: Rosa upset that she didn't get to insult the dead captain to his face. It reminded me of a joke from The Simpsons. "Tell my beloved wife that my last thoughts were of her... blinding and torturing Abe Simpson." Other thoughts: I wasn't too far off when I said the new captain might already be dead by the start of the season. The first names I thought of for the pigeon were Paulie and Petey, which turned out to be the top contenders. Is that a coincidence or are they just obvious? When Bill Hader's character was shouting, he reminded me of Mr. DeMartino from Daria.
  22. The True Confessions game is basically a short version of the UK show "Would I Lie to You?"
  23. You know there are still a few sitcoms that aren't produced by Chuck Lorre, right?
  24. Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.
