  1. When is pro bowl announced? My fingers are crossed for Lacey because I’ve loved her since she kicked herself in the nose and laughed about it.
  2. I didn’t watch Gilmore Girls so I can’t compare. I think the children are merely there to keep sad sack Joel in the picture. Maybe my turning point against Midge was most likely when she left the baby in the hot car. She takes better care of her clothes. I remember last season she didn’t have a picture of her kids and thought that was a good reason to ruin the band intro. I feel like this could have been a good endpoint for the show. It’s a beautiful fantasy about spoiled wealthy upper west side people in the late 50s, but it lost a great deal of the first season charm for me. I don’t think Midge as a character/ person is that great- it’s more I really admire the actress playing her with such gusto. Same with her immediate family. Though the earnest sisters-in-law is ok. The only characters that appeal to me to see more are Susie and Lenny Bruce (though we know how that ends.) The singer too Shy Baldwin is appealing.
  3. I doubt players keep their uniforms either. Maybe some special award ones. The uniforms are property of the team. I doubt they want any girl selling her uniform for cash on EBay or wearing it for personal appearances outside their control.
  4. By the end of the season, I didn’t like Midge at all. Maybe even a bit before the end. She has carelessly ruined things for a lot of people - her coworkers wedding, Susies life, her fiancé, her parents even, though they aren’t likable either - and manages to ignore her children almost all the time. She’s a strong willed, selfish person who does what she wants, and maybe later apologizes when it backfires. She is just too fake, too brittle and too fantasy-like for me to enjoy this season. I felt last season, yes her life is a fantasy view of the world, but she was softer and a little kinder. This season shows how her world revolves only around her much more clearly than last season. I wouldn’t be surprised if the series has her ending up alone in a big house. To me, Susie is the best thing about the show. They stuck her in the Catskills woods with a ludicrous plunger and plot, but she managed to barely carry it. It can’t possibly ever get worse than that for her character. I will watch another season. But this season was a major drop from Season 1 to me.
  5. Melissa definitely called her out as fake in the “name a weakness” segment. I think she gets these girls numbers pretty quickly.
  6. Lemons are cheap. They surely could have found room in the budget. Im interested in a few of the chefs, but I haven’t enjoyed any of the challenges. Not sure how much I will keep watching.
  7. The bottom photo looks like her boob is falling out. I know it’s an odd shadow but it looks weird to me. “The hair flip. We are not worthy” I love this guy’s enthusiasm.
  8. Re Jinelle -They begged Jinelle to not retire and hired her as staff. I have no doubt she would have flown through the auditions. They are lucky to have her know all the dances plus thunderstruck and be there to fill in. ive always wondered why they don’t have two alternates but I guess the all stars fill that role. re Brennan- that’s great to hear. I hope she is having the time of her life. Thanks for posting this. A really good sincere article. Also, I want to shout out Kristi for being such a passionate judge at auditions. She’s one of my favorites.
  9. I know a lot about her story. She worked as an editor at Viking Press here as a career. She was much more than a trophy wife. I thought the comparison was with Charlotte from the DCC, and that is what I was answering. That Jacklyn was gorgeous and had style doesn’t mean she had no substance. I feel she did much more for improving the world and charity charity than Charlotte has, but that’s just my view.
  10. I agree, but I feel the viewers are just using the standards Kelli and Judy and the judges discuss at length when they are picking the team and throughout training camp. They’ve cut, or not picked, girls based on weight, including Victoria this season. Weight has been a focus every season. Every time they show a girl on the big screen, they assess how her body looks. I think they made a mistake focusing on weight and I feel they’ve cut it back some. I agree that it’s a harmful message for young girls, but at the same time, it’s what we’ve learned the DCC standards are regarding weight. We’ve even had the contract language read out loud by Kelli. We’ve seen the girls get weighed. Im sure they have had girls who have eating disorders on the team. We saw a bit of Courtney Cook, and that was the rumour as to why she left. We saw the girl who was cut and edited to look robotic after she had spent the night in the ER due to her trying to lose weight. We’ve never seen any girls getting help with eating disorders, which is fair for their privacy. We have seen a long parade of girls lectured to and cut because of their weight. I feel that I look at girls through the lens of the show. I would never say any of the girls were heavy or overweight in “real life.” Other than Victoria’s noticeable gain this season, I can’t think of a single girl who was cut or warned for weight that I didn’t think looked good. Victoria was only noticeable because it was one of the first things we learned about her and because she gained so fast.
  11. Jaclyn Onassis had a major impact on charities in New York. She led the restoration of Grand Central Station and saved it from being demolished. That’s one of many examples of projects she was involved in and one of the few she was very public about supporting. If you aren’t from New York City, you may not be as aware of her philanthropy because she seemed to keep her public profile very low key. There are good reasons the reservoir in Central Park is named in her honor.
  12. It wasn’t a few days. She was warned early, taken out of uniform, then no improvement and she still wasn’t taking it seriously. She at least got to uniform fittings and dancing with Kitty in rehearsal where she was falling out of her turns. When she got cut she was asking about a time frame and losing weight in a healthy way, when she had already had a serious “wake up call” from Kelli. I think the reason she didn’t get help was because she said “I need to make working out a priority” and Veronica said through tears “I’m frustrated with my body. I’ve been working out and I run every day.”
  13. Paige, Hannah and Veronica got enough scores from the judges to come back. I remember Kelli telling Veronica she was the lowest scoring veteran. Also Veronica lost the weight and so did Paige. Hannah got cut for making no improvement in her weight after being warned and getting a “wake up call” and being taken out of uniform. I think Hannah thought she was safe given her reaction when she got cut, even though Kelli had warned her repeatedly. That’s was when Judy said girls had to be cut at finals and not brought into training camp with weight issues. The next year, I think, one or two vets were cut at auditions for weight. Also they probably didn’t gain it in a few weeks like Victoria did - she was 14 pounds and looked to be increasing, not losing.
  14. I’ve been trying to understand the advantage of staying for a third year. I’m not surprised some girls have had enough in 2 years and want to move on to other things.
  15. Maddie isn’t cute to me. She’s never been and she’s not improving. She doesn’t belong in the front if they care about showcasing beautiful girls. I guess they don’t. Judy is 1000 times prettier than Maddie. Even now she’s much better looking. Im talking about looks for the team, not looks that are good for most guys. It’s a very superficial standard. Does she live in the 1940s? That sounds like something my grandmother would say and my mom would give her a dirty look for saying it. i get that dress isn’t most peoples cup of tea but the idea that brides had to be virgins is pretty old fashioned and probably wasn’t even true back then.At least in most of the US it is, I understand different cultures have different ideas, but that “white wedding dress means you’re a virgin” is pretty much an old white middle America meme.
  16. I think seniority matters to any team. The new girls need mentors, they need people who’ve been there and done it before to learn from. I think Kelli makes a mistake in not valuing the veterans. I agree with cutting whoever is out of shape or who you don’t want on the team again at tryouts. But I think they need to value the senior girls more than they seem to do. I think Tara was looking much better when she was cut. She certainly wasn’t the worst. The only two girls I remember hearing say she valued were a couple of the vets warned in TC about weight and Danielle. Of course the show is about rookies so maybe we don’t see it.
  17. Judy looks so adorable. What a cute smile she has even if young Dalton Ross was unhappy. Any idea who could be with her in the photo? She has a winning smile too.
  18. I think they meant the fund donation for moving would be in lieu of wedding gifts but who knows. It would definitely be better to get cash then more stuff to move. I wonder what she has planned in Hawaii. I’ve always liked seeing her on the show.
  19. Yes, it seems that over the years that huge 60 yard screen is the main judge, Charlotte said once it’s maybe the only judge. I think really Judy on her own could pick the team from finals after seeing them on the screen performing the combo and kicks. She might miss the rare girl who moves her way up through her training camp performance, but I think she knows right away who she wants on the team. She’s patient about it and she seems like she can work with anyone, but she has a sense of who can improve enough to make the team and who can’t. I think Gina could be point if they were willing to put Maddie in the triangle. Guess we will see.
  20. I agree that they don’t seem to value seniority enough and I’m not sure why. I also agree that they seem to be going much more for appearance on the big screen over powerhouse dancers. Maybe they made a good decision with that because the big screen is where the girls are really obvious. How many people in the stands are judging the quality of dancing outside some obvious error? After this year when Kelli mentioned that they have like 10 home games, I started to understand that dancing at the games is only one aspect of the cheerleaders and maybe their personal appearance and public/media presence are more important than dancing. It may just be that they had a lot of stronger dancers this year though.
  21. Do we know who is choosing these photos? All the photos from the bikini shoot to the cameos to these are generally bad pictures of pretty and some beautiful girls. I don’t understand how these issues with photos happen so consistently. It’s almost intentionally making the girls look bad instead of their best.
  22. The first shot is almost the same. Now I see why Kelli always says just a smile is the best expression for these girls. They aren’t models but I think it’s what the photographer wanted? It’s not working though. These girls can’t convey Street tough if that’s what he wanted.
  23. I think it reflects the person I’ve always seen her being from the show.I remember when she looked like a deer in headlights when Judy said “your kick technique is WRONG!” She just sounded so desperate when she got cut that year, but she barelt raised any sympathy or caring in me. I don’t know her at all and I’m only talking about the way she seems on the show and now she seems unreasonably haughty for an average girl. I don’t know why she’s in an ad campaign expect for her look of blank disdain. Edit to add - if only she had bikini bottoms to pull down with her thumb like in the bathing suits. That was super classy. (Sarcasm)
