  1. "Have you ever walked through a Jeff Garland fart cloud?" Poor Wickie, cursed to a comfortable upper middleclass life with two loving parents! They seem so lovely, even if its going to cause a lot of problems for the girls I'm glad that her dad is getting that boat.
  2. This honestly feels like an AHS parody, not an actual season. The stupid "scary" outfits, the nonsensical girl power buzzwords, the testicles in a box, everything being resolved super easily in the last second, cheesy acting, gratuitous blood, its like the way I would sarcastically guess this season would end. We still have no idea what/who KK is, what the deal is with the cult, we don't know why baby Anna was chosen, we basically got no answers and the ride wasn't fun enough to justify it. This really just made me want to watch Rosemary's Baby, and I suggest you do the same.
  3. That scary music cue every time the senators wife appeared out of nowhere made me laugh every time. This season has been great so far! They have a bell hat officially calls a Footloose!
  4. I'm so glad that I decided to binge this show, its so much fun!
  5. For fucks sake, I cannot believe we are still on this Maddie shit. We already found her, we should be done now, but of course we need more of St. Olivia, the only person in the world who can save every victim and stop every bad guy who is basically a one woman justice system who also has time to be the perfect mom and still have TV perfect makeup (unless the makeup artist decides to mess with Mariska and give her the overly aggressive eyeliner) who everyone worships. BLEH! Maddie's mom and Olivia are two peas in a pod, no wonder they've latched onto each other. Yes, this is all clearly about you, not your husband who you guilted into an attempted suicide or your traumatized daughter, your the real victim here. I'm sorry, I know that the appeal of cult leaders is mystifying to most people, but I just cannot buy that this scraggly crazy eyed middle aged man without an once of charisma can instantly get girls to run off with him or get jurors to fall in love with him. The actor is just not interesting enough, or the writing is god awful, or its both.
  6. Oh great, yet another missing teenage girl for Olivia to obsesses over and Make Personal, we haven't had enough of that lately. I know that the episode was trying to make this into some sort of clunk Little Red Riding Hood riff, but between the stupid oily evil teen boys, the ominous cell phone calls, and the main character being a teenage girl named Sidney, all I could think about was Scream. "Hello Sydney..." This episode was so full of cringe, from Olivia's awkward chats with Noah, who still seems like a precocious eight year old even as he hits his teen years to her taking over as hostage negotiator, it had the bones of a decent story but the actual COTW took a backseat to more Olivia worship. Its funny how when other cops engage in police brutality and coercion its bad, but when Olivia does it, its totally fine.
  7. A wild Matt Berry appears! Really fun to see him in the flesh as an old friend of Cooper's from back in the day, its really interesting seeing more of his past. It seems like we're seeing more of how Cooper went from A List actor who's happily married to a much more jaded man doing children's birthday parties and paying alimony. He's losing out his connections in Hollywood due to his connections with Vault-Tech and he and is wife are having issues due to her commitment to them despite how shady they are. She seems to be fully drinking the Vault-Tech Kool-Aid no matter what her husband says, it sucks that she seems to be so annoyed by his totally reasonable questions and concerns. I would be pissed too if someone randomly told me I had to leave my dog in a nuclear wasteland! I knew that Vault 4 would be up to some weird shit, but that was a lot even by this shows standards. Not only are some of the residents mutated, they creepily worship Moldaver by stripping and covering the ashes of dead bodies AND are apparently doing some creepy human testing. Although it seems like that horrifying birthing video is pretty old and that side at least is run down, so did some experiments happen early on and now they are doing something different? I guess sex education isn't really a part of the Brotherhoods curriculum. I don't blame Maximus for being so taken in by Vault 4, if I met someone who gave a a hot shower for the first time ever, I would probably pledge my loyalty to them too. Moldaver is not only the same woman who led the attack on Lucy's wedding, being the shittiest wedding guest ever, but she's also hundreds of years old despite not being a Ghoul! The plot thickens!
  8. I'm glad that Nicky and Alex are staying as I like them both, but I have no idea why. Was it really too close to call? They didn't want to get rid of either of them after they had so many good bakes? What is going to happen next? The judges were really picky about those gorgeous bakes, but we're almost to the finale so I guess that makes sense. Tiramisu that feels dry sounds not very appealing, that was a criticism that I certainly got. Alex's plumes certainly looked good, I would have tried it. I enjoy a weird mix of flavors, and clearly the show likes them too considering the crazy challenges they are always throwing at them.
  9. I love Georgie but I really don't care about the spin-off. I'll probably give it a shot, but I am really not a huge fan of Mancy so I am not super excited. I don't dislike her, but she is just kind of there for me. I can get Audrey not being thrilled about the situation, but she really needs to chill out and stop being such an asshole. Georgie might not be what she pictured for a son in law, but hopefully she comes around to see his good qualities. That outhouse was hilariously awful, Mary even took devil money because she couldn't handle it!
  10. I thought that this was a lovely, bittersweet ending, a lot of things were wrapped up while others are left open ended. I'm not sure whether that seeming flashforward to a much older Blackthorne was real or just his imagination, but we at least got closure for him and Mariko and some sort of ending to his story, whether its in Japan or back home. I am really glad that we got so many scenes between Blackthorne and Fuji, she's become one of my favorite characters, she's so sympathetic and I like the way their relationship grew. Its not romantic, but they do obviously care about each other, and I love that they both said goodbye to their deceased loved ones together. I am also glad that we got one last scene with Father Alvito, who, regardless of everything that the Portuguese have done, really does seem to care about doing gods work, unlike most of his fellows who just want power. He adds even more ambiguity to the story, no faction is all good or all bad. Overall, this was a lovely slow burn miniseries with great performances and atmosphere that explored a lot of interesting themes of power and culture clash.
  11. There is something very sinister happening in the Vaults, looking forward to seeing Norman continue to figure things out. Maybe that's his calling, detective. Or at least a true crime podcaster. My guess is that Lucy is remembering the actual surface which she went to with her mother, but later she was taken back to the Vault again. So where is their mom? Maximus is way too quick to let success get to his head, he even made a similar mistake as the real Titus, just because your in the power suite doesn't mean your invincible.
  12. The opener with Mia Farrow making Rosemary's Baby was somewhat interesting, although I'm not sure they want to remind us of the movie that did this story a million times better. I hate that they gave that line to Sharon Tate, could you please leave the poor woman out of your nonsense? So the nurse I hardly remember was having an affair with Dex and that led to her stalking Anna? I would say that it sort of makes sense, but we know that there is way more happening here, so Anna is not only being stalked by her husbands mistress, she is also being targeted by a magical demon cult? Some girls have all the fun! Anna is such a weirdly written character, she doesn't really strike me as a famous and ambitious actress, she seems like such a shrinking violet type who's only moods are "confused" "freaking out" and "crying". I miss when AHS was at least a fun kind of bad, this is just boring bad with only brief glances of spooky fun.
  13. Here I was thinking that we would find out that Hettie's lawyers killed her and dumped her body in the well, but then they go and pull that reveal out. This show does such a great job at mixing comedy with very sincere feelings, I gasped when Hettie pulled down her collar and showed the cord around her neck. This makes so much about Hettie even more tragic, especially her relationship with her son. She loved him so much, it seemed like they were really close, and it was all for nothing. On a lighter note, I am so glad that Flower is back! Cookies to everyone who called Ralph the basement ghosts as being the one who got sucked off, poor Stephanie. She was so close! At least now Flower is back, it was so sweet when she thanked Hettie for saving her, and then of course she repeats her robbery story again. classic Flower! You dirty bohemian. So Thor knows what Facetime is but not cement? I'm with Pete, he is definitely screwing with us. I'm glad that Sam and Jay went off to have a weekend for themselves. Not only does it lead to an all ghosts episode which changes the shows dynamic, they really need some non ghost time together. Especially Jay, he has such patience, he needs the vacation. I really hope that we find Patience the Puritan who is apparently wondering around in the dirt.
  14. Damn, I am not familiar with the book (although its now on my To Read list) or the miniseries, so I really am shocked to lose Mariko. I kept waiting for them to give her the chance to pull back at the last second and then it seemed like everything was working out, and then, boom. Anna Sawai is an exceptional actress, she is able to say so much in just a slight gesture or facial expression. The tension throughout the almost seppuku was so brutal, the acting from everyone was excellent. I know there is only one episode left, but its going to be sad having to watch the finale without her. At least she went out with dignity, making her family proud. This was probably my favorite episode of the show.
  15. I am only a very casual knower of Fallout things, I have played the game maybe five times and most of the rest I know through pop culture osmosis, but I am really enjoying the story and characters on its own merits. I especially liked this episode, Lucy and The Ghoul are an interesting pairing of characters and I am glad that, even as Lucy is becoming harder as she explores the wastelands, she is still holding onto her morals. Even The Ghoul seemed a bit impressed/pensive after she still saved him even after he sold her for spare parts. Now Lucy has a new finger, some new weapons, and a cool new wasteland outfit! Matt Barry as Mr. Handy is amazing casting, I hope that we see more of them! Snip Snip was so cute I was sad to see him go, even if he was trying to cut Lucy apart to harvest her organs. I am really amused that the organ traffickers are just two loser stoners who apparently got lucky to find a robot, not scary badass criminals, and I am really glad that Lucy saved all of the captured ghouls. One of them even thanked her! Looks like something really freaky happened in Vault 32. And Lucy and Norm's mom maybe opened the door?
  16. For that alone he's a hero in my book! I love that Jet got a badass hero moment, always a treat to see her. I liked this episode, I'm a sucker for those "travel throughout the shows past" types of episodes and that we got three people all traveling around through time. It was a fun way to celebrate the show's history before we wrap things up and see some old characters, even if it would have been cool to see Pike, Landry, or especially Lorca again, but I know it can be hard to get so many actors back again for just one episode. It was fun seeing first season Michael fighting against present Michael, I almost forgot what a hot head she used to be, always being ready to come in hot instead of the calmer more mature Michael of the current timeline. Even beyond the hair they had such different vibes. Stamets really did used to be quite the grump, he's really chilled out a lot. Not that he's Mr. Perky Happy Time now, but he's certainly not the guy who screamed at his staff for any old thing. I too am concerned by his staff believing that a "spore breech" is a thing when its apparently not. I think there is something to be said for a traditional hierarchy in a vessel like Discovery, especially with them being on such an important mission, but it would be in Rayner's best interest to at least somewhat adjust to how Discovery does things. He does clearly care about the crew and doing what's best for them, he's just gruff and has his old school military way of doing things that he thinks his best, ideally he could find a middle ground of some kind.
  17. Poor Lucy is just not having a good time of it, she's trying her best but she whole "gee whiz" attitude is getting her into real trouble. Interesting seeing more of the Ghouls backstory, him being the inspiration for Pip Boy is a fun choice. He's certainly got those big teeth! I am really interested in how he went from a nice family man who didn't even like pretending to kill someone to...The Ghoul. It seems like it involves his wife, who it sounds like he was already separated from by the time of the war, and him apparently not being so keen on Vault-Tech by that time, considering how uncomfortable he was about doing his signature thumbs up at the party. I'm glad we're still checking in on life in The Vault, its my favorite set of the show, which is saying something because every location is great. Looks like Norm will be taking over as our main viewpoint character there, so is he going to take matters into his own hands with regards to the raiders? Councillor: "Are you aware that every job you've ever had has reviewed your performance as "lacks enthusiasm"?" Norm: "No, but that sounds accurate."
  18. Alanis is back! I missed her and her voice that defined a generation! Judy is getting so confident that she hardly needs her anymore, but its still a treat for me! I loved the pure chaos of Judy and Kima running around the city high out of their minds after accidently eating gummies, with their very stressed out teacher in pursuit. "I'm taking this to the grave." The Wet Wolf sounds utterly disgusting, and seeing them just conformed it. No sandwich (or maybe any food item) should have the word "wet" in the name.
  19. Poor Kate, she knew she was doomed but kept pressing on anyway to at least finish. Count me as a carrot fan, I thought all of those carrot desserts looked delicious!
  20. I am taking my time to really savor this one, as much as I want to automatically click next to watch the next episode. I was pleasantly surprised to see Michael Emerson here but I guessed that we sadly wouldn't get him for very long. He did at least come with the plot ticket that will get things moving at least, a cute dog, and apparently his head! Still really enjoying the show. Turns out that the Brotherhood's recruitment standards aren't great, Maximus's Knight turned out to not just be an asshole, but an incredibly stupid one. Yes, stop your mission and jump out of your ride into the radiated wasteland just for shits and giggles and then insult the guy who's your only hope of survival while he holds your medical pack, very smart. I love the amount of visual storytelling we're getting, every set is so detailed, so much of the world building is being shown instead of told. Lucy might still be adorably naïve, but she does at least have a pretty good ability to think fast and roll with the punches, taking advantage of the shoot out to find the information she needs and being willing to hack the head off of a body, so she might just make it, hopefully with at least a bit of her plucky can do attitude in tact. Walton Goggins continues to have a grand old time here in wasteland Deadwood, he's clearly having an absolute blast. I was surprised to see all of the main characters in one place so quickly, even if it was just for a minute. Looks like they will all be back together again soon, as Lucy has whatever Michael Emmerson had in his head and The Ghoul and Maximum are both after him, plus Maximus and Lucy clearly had a moment back there. The dog is alive! After seeing puppies getting put into a furnace I couldn't handle more dog killing, so thank God. I love getting some classic dark Fallout humor, like the "Please Remain Calm" machine gun. I am also glad that they are keeping the 50s music throughout, its not Fallout without that retro futuristic 50s aesthetic.
  21. I guess Vic is just gong through burnout and that's lading to her having this breakdown, probably not helped by her relationship with Ruiz falling apart because he decided to be a huge asshole and now Crisis One being cut, maybe she needs a few talks with Tracie Thoms? This is at least a reason for Jack to stay around, but is that really all he is going to be doing now? Be a voice? That really sucks, its weird having the show without him, especially now that Andie is captain at last and could probably use his support. These people really cant go anywhere without some kind of emergency. That kid who worked at the Space Needle was the best backup Vic was getting, trying to keep the panicking kid calm while he and the husband were freaking out, hopefully he gets a raise.
  22. Hold on just a minute there, how in the hell did Moll manage to sneak into a secret Trill ceremony, wouldn't all of the Trill guardians down there know each other? Have some form of security? Moll and her partner are just two random bounty hunter types, I'm worried that they're really going to have to make some huge leaps in logic to make them a real threat. T'Rina and Saru continue to be extremely endearing and adorable, even when they have their first real fight. Vulcan engagement announcements are quite politically spicy as it turns out. Book's connection to Moll seems kind of distant for this intense emotional reaction, but I can get how he's really attached to the idea of seeing anyone connected to his past after using his whole planet. Wilson Cruz was certainly having a grand old time getting to play a new character for an episode. I knew that the nest of alien monsters would turn out to be some kind of test, but still a pretty dick move, especially with him telling them to take their phasers out, kind of setting them up to fail. Good to know that Tribbles can be neutered now!
  23. I finally got the chance to see this, and it was a really fun time! Its the kind of popcorn blockbuster that I love seeing when the weather gets warmer. It had a great blend of nostalgia and telling its own story and I really like how they used the old gang. Ray really got a chance to shine in this one especially, and I love that Janine got to suit up and get in on the action! The main problems I had with this movie mostly had to do with pacing. I like that we spent a lot of time building up to the main bad guy and building a mythology around him, but I think they spent just a little too much time on building up Garraka and not much time actually fighting him. I also feel bad that Trevor was quite underused, he was hardly in the movie except for his comedy subplot with Slimer, I know that even in the first movie Phoebe was the main focus, but both siblings had arcs and a party to play. I definitely got more than a "just good ghost gal pals" vibe from Melody and Phoebe, when Phoebe became a ghost it felt like they were about to kiss for a second before Melody betrayed her. Kumail Nanjiani is a great addition to the franchise. "Dude, you used all the lighter fluid! "You TOLD ME to practice!" That opening in the 1910's was actually really creepy, I think that's something that the franchise should lean into more, actually creepy things happening.
  24. I am really liking how much Beef is growing this season, he's dating, he's going out again, he's alright with leaving the kids to their own devices every once in awhile, its taken awhile but he's finally moving past all of the damage Kathleen did to his life. Hopefully Wolf follows his example, he is clearly not at all over his issues with his mom, I knew right away that his anxiety with Ruth came with his issues with his mom. Luckily Ruth is a very understanding lady and understood what was going on even before Wolf did, they even sang a country duet! Ruth's very diplomatic "I don't want to judge Kathleen, but I do not think we would have gotten along well" was such a mom move. Aunt Dirt continues to be a really fun addition to the show and the Tobin family dynamic. "Judy, you'll have to hold them up for me." I had no idea we were getting two episodes, that was a fun surprise!
