  1. I am taking my time to really savor this one, as much as I want to automatically click next to watch the next episode. I was pleasantly surprised to see Michael Emerson here but I guessed that we sadly wouldn't get him for very long. He did at least come with the plot ticket that will get things moving at least, a cute dog, and apparently his head! Still really enjoying the show. Turns out that the Brotherhood's recruitment standards aren't great, Maximus's Knight turned out to not just be an asshole, but an incredibly stupid one. Yes, stop your mission and jump out of your ride into the radiated wasteland just for shits and giggles and then insult the guy who's your only hope of survival while he holds your medical pack, very smart. I love the amount of visual storytelling we're getting, every set is so detailed, so much of the world building is being shown instead of told. Lucy might still be adorably naïve, but she does at least have a pretty good ability to think fast and roll with the punches, taking advantage of the shoot out to find the information she needs and being willing to hack the head off of a body, so she might just make it, hopefully with at least a bit of her plucky can do attitude in tact. Walton Goggins continues to have a grand old time here in wasteland Deadwood, he's clearly having an absolute blast. I was surprised to see all of the main characters in one place so quickly, even if it was just for a minute. Looks like they will all be back together again soon, as Lucy has whatever Michael Emmerson had in his head and The Ghoul and Maximum are both after him, plus Maximus and Lucy clearly had a moment back there. The dog is alive! After seeing puppies getting put into a furnace I couldn't handle more dog killing, so thank God. I love getting some classic dark Fallout humor, like the "Please Remain Calm" machine gun. I am also glad that they are keeping the 50s music throughout, its not Fallout without that retro futuristic 50s aesthetic.
  2. I guess Vic is just gong through burnout and that's lading to her having this breakdown, probably not helped by her relationship with Ruiz falling apart because he decided to be a huge asshole and now Crisis One being cut, maybe she needs a few talks with Tracie Thoms? This is at least a reason for Jack to stay around, but is that really all he is going to be doing now? Be a voice? That really sucks, its weird having the show without him, especially now that Andie is captain at last and could probably use his support. These people really cant go anywhere without some kind of emergency. That kid who worked at the Space Needle was the best backup Vic was getting, trying to keep the panicking kid calm while he and the husband were freaking out, hopefully he gets a raise.
  3. Hold on just a minute there, how in the hell did Moll manage to sneak into a secret Trill ceremony, wouldn't all of the Trill guardians down there know each other? Have some form of security? Moll and her partner are just two random bounty hunter types, I'm worried that they're really going to have to make some huge leaps in logic to make them a real threat. T'Rina and Saru continue to be extremely endearing and adorable, even when they have their first real fight. Vulcan engagement announcements are quite politically spicy as it turns out. Book's connection to Moll seems kind of distant for this intense emotional reaction, but I can get how he's really attached to the idea of seeing anyone connected to his past after using his whole planet. Wilson Cruz was certainly having a grand old time getting to play a new character for an episode. I knew that the nest of alien monsters would turn out to be some kind of test, but still a pretty dick move, especially with him telling them to take their phasers out, kind of setting them up to fail. Good to know that Tribbles can be neutered now!
  4. I finally got the chance to see this, and it was a really fun time! Its the kind of popcorn blockbuster that I love seeing when the weather gets warmer. It had a great blend of nostalgia and telling its own story and I really like how they used the old gang. Ray really got a chance to shine in this one especially, and I love that Janine got to suit up and get in on the action! The main problems I had with this movie mostly had to do with pacing. I like that we spent a lot of time building up to the main bad guy and building a mythology around him, but I think they spent just a little too much time on building up Garraka and not much time actually fighting him. I also feel bad that Trevor was quite underused, he was hardly in the movie except for his comedy subplot with Slimer, I know that even in the first movie Phoebe was the main focus, but both siblings had arcs and a party to play. I definitely got more than a "just good ghost gal pals" vibe from Melody and Phoebe, when Phoebe became a ghost it felt like they were about to kiss for a second before Melody betrayed her. Kumail Nanjiani is a great addition to the franchise. "Dude, you used all the lighter fluid! "You TOLD ME to practice!" That opening in the 1910's was actually really creepy, I think that's something that the franchise should lean into more, actually creepy things happening.
  5. I am really liking how much Beef is growing this season, he's dating, he's going out again, he's alright with leaving the kids to their own devices every once in awhile, its taken awhile but he's finally moving past all of the damage Kathleen did to his life. Hopefully Wolf follows his example, he is clearly not at all over his issues with his mom, I knew right away that his anxiety with Ruth came with his issues with his mom. Luckily Ruth is a very understanding lady and understood what was going on even before Wolf did, they even sang a country duet! Ruth's very diplomatic "I don't want to judge Kathleen, but I do not think we would have gotten along well" was such a mom move. Aunt Dirt continues to be a really fun addition to the show and the Tobin family dynamic. "Judy, you'll have to hold them up for me." I had no idea we were getting two episodes, that was a fun surprise!
  6. "...Its not...abnormal..." I'm glad that they are really going there with Buck, so far they are handling this story pretty well. I like that Buck is mostly cool with the idea that he's bisexual or something but he's still being awkward about it, so many times in these kinds of stories the person trying to figure out their sexuality, especially later in life, is either totally cool with it immediately or collapses in a pile of repressed angst, this seems very true for Buck. That whole "we're off to find some sexy ladies" was such cringe, that physically hurt. Now he's come out to Eddie and Maddie, which I think the actors all did really good work with, he just has the rest of the gang now. Maddie and Eddie both seemed surprised by Buck going on a date with a guy, but I remember TK thinking that Buck was hitting on him way back in the Lone Star crossover, which is what made me wonder if they would actually go there. Say what you will about TK being the most disaster prone person in Texas, his gaydar is on point. Eddie's nun freak out was kind of weird and random, but it did lead to that fun talk with Bobby. I like exploring his faith and seeing how they connected over it even if Eddie isn't a practicing Catholic. Lapsed Catholic is still a Catholic, very very true. "Head to confession, check in with her ex." You would think that first responder Hen and Karen would have some more skills when it comes to clearly traumatized kids, this isn't their first time with foster kids. The wedding is happening super fast, but at least they gave us a preview before the break starts. Of course it cant go smoothly, but at least it seems like it will be more of a "wacky hangover hijinks" and not "psychotic murderous ex husband" sort of situation that's going to put the wedding in jeopardy.
  7. I am only a casual gamer, I have played a few Fallout games every once in awhile at friends houses and such, but most of what I know is through pop culture osmosis, but I really like this so far. It seems to be really nailing that retro futuristic mix of survivor horror and dark comedy that makes the franchise so much fun, and according to the preview its just going to get better. The Vault is my favorite location so far, it looks exactly like the games but it feels a lot more lived in and somehow even more quirky as we get to know the people there more. The running joke about "cousin stuff" is so gross but in a way that's weirdly hilarious. It seems like the raiders might have more of an agenda than just stealing from the people in the Vault and kidnapping their leader, the main lady knowing Lucy's mom makes it seem like there is a lot more going on. For people who worship machines, the Brotherhood of Steel are pretty low tech in their training, I guess all of their budget went to their mech suites and cool airplanes and blimps. I like all of the characters so far but the standout is, of course, Walton Goggins as The Ghoul, a mutant who is still alive somehow after witnessing the nuclear explosion that started all of this and has gone from cowboy movie star to cowboy wasteland bounty hunter, a character that Walton Goggins was clearly born to play. You can really see all of that Amazon money, they are clearly hoping to finally get that super huge critically acclaimed hit that they have always wanted (especially after Rings of Power was considered on the meh side) and based on this episode, they might finally have it.
  8. They really wanted us to be worried about Saru, going on about this being his last mission, giving him all of these touching talks with Michael about their history, putting him literally in the line of fire, they knew exactly what we were all thinking. Even Michael seemed to be extra worried, like she's seen movies and knowns what happens to someone right before retirement! Luckily Saru made it out alive, thank God. I hope that he isn't gone gone and we will see him sometimes in his new position and planning his wedding, even if this is his last time on a mission. I'm glad that he got one last chance to be Action Saru and he and Michael got to spend the episode together, I have always loved their relationship since way back when the show started. You would think that they would want to lure the couriers with the diary out and wait instead of chasing them around, especially as they don't even fully understand what they have, but then we would have less traveling around the galaxy! The most important character in the show finally returns, the queen herself! Grudge for Captain! It must be weird for Michael to be sitting in on a disciplinary meeting with command and she's not actually the one in trouble. Looks like Rayner is going to be sticking around, now as Michael's number 1, which she probably sees as paying forward the chance she got back when the show first started, even if that was under very different circumstances.
  9. I do like that they gave Adeline Mia Farrow's haircut from Rosemary's Baby, that's actually a sort of fun somewhat subtle touch. Everything else was the nonsense we expect at this point, lots of random weirdness thrown at the wall, the one real surprise is that not only is Dex not in on whatever the evil plan is he actually used to be pretty charming and likable. They were rocking those stupid hats even back in the early ADs in nowhere England? Have Spencers really been around for that long?
  10. Welcome to one last ride with the Discovery crew! Its been a lot of ups and downs but overall its been a fun time, especially the last few seasons. Having Callum Keith Rennie along for the ride should be interesting, I'm always happy to see him and I am curious to see if he becomes a "starts out conflicting with the heroes but isn't so bad" kind of antagonistic captain or "just an asshole" kind of antagonistic captain. I was promised getting to see Grudge! We spend al episode with Book and Michael being all awkward and not a single look at the queen herself? Will we never be free of the Soongs? They just keep popping up no matter what decade we're in, and it always seems to spell trouble. This whole family just needs to stop...doing all of the stuff that they do. Tipsy Tilly! I hope that she can stick around for awhile, I miss her energy. I am also glad to see that David Cronenberg is so connected with the main plot, he's been an unexpected delight this whole series. Awww Saru and T'Rina are engaged. I'm very worried them, between the impending nuptials and Saru's near retirement, he better not put on anything red in the near future.
  11. I hope that if/when Janine returns to Abbot full time, she at least keeps her new wardrobe and makeup, she's been looking amazing ever since she started her new job. Janine has really been thriving at the district so I will be sad to see her go, but I can see her wanting to go back to teaching full time, at least for awhile. Plus, Abbot can hardly handle one Ava, no way can they keep functioning with two! Barbara knowing how to use AI is the season's biggest plot twist so far.
  12. I'm so glad that Uncle Antonio survived the episode and seems like a really good guy, with Will's luck this season I was fearing the worst. Its so nice to see Will getting to bond with his uncle and feel come connection with his biological mother, it was so sweet when he and Antonio realized that they both had dyslexia. This was overall just a great episode, even if the mystery was easy to solve. Of course it was the sister, but I liked how it all played out and it fit into the theme of family, especially family who have been separated. It was really nice seeing Will, Faith, Angie and Ormewood all working together in one plot instead of off in their own stories, it even made Ormewood's family drama a bit more interesting. BonBon for the win! The kids on the car and everything with the vanilla/manila envelope were cracking me up, and I about died at the big Will Trent sign in the drag club. I really liked all of the drag performers, they were all such distinct memorable characters, I hope we see them pop up again. That ending potluck really got me, Will really does have more people who love him then he thinks. Is Angee's mom still alive? I guess I thought she was dead or at least her location was unknown, it would certainly be a drama bomb if she showed up.
  13. I'm so happy to learn that Fat Bear Week is a real thing, this show is so educational! I was surprised at how fast Beef and Carissa were moving, but I guess it makes sense that it would be easier for Beef to physically move faster than he does emotionally. I like how things played out with them at the end, I definitely thought that it would turn out that the donut king was gay and we would see him at one of the gay clubs that Ham and Aunt Dirt went to, but I really like that it was just that Carissa isn't into him like that. Aunt Dirt freaking out about women being able to publicly date women was great, her and Ham's ploy was really cute. Poor traumatized Moon. "Hello child services, do you do curbside pickup?"
  14. At some point these guys have to wonder if God has it out for them personally, they're in the middle of their friends funeral after he was hate crimed to death only to get called into work to handle a mass casualty event due to an act of domestic terrorism. What a day, they're going to need a whole lot more cookies. Poor Jerome, I feel like he'll be leaving soon, having to spend every day in the place he and Asher fell in love in would be so hard, especially in such a high stress job. They handled everyone's grief over losing Asher well, but I still don't like that they killed him off. It seems like his character arc could have been better fulfilled by coming to terms with the many aspects of himself, getting over his bitterness towards religion (without getting religion again) and finding happiness with Jerome instead of being beaten to death the second things start really going well for him. Its just such a cliché, the character who is about to get married/have a child/retire/finally deal with their angst immediately dies to maximize the audiences tears, and that's not even getting into the whole thing of the shows most major LGBTQ character being killed off for the sake of drama. I'm sorry, I just thought that we were moving past these clichés, but I guess writers can never resist. Putting Charlie and Glassman together seems so obvious, he would be a great mentor for her. This is probably the best they have written her so far and I am glad that she and Shaun seem to have made peace, even if it was all a bit pat with the "autistic people can help other autistic people" thing. I do like the idea of Shaun bonding with another person who also has autism, I don't think he knows many other autistic people and if he got his hackles down and Charlie learned to handle the workplace more, they could have a good relationship.
  15. I like Rochelle but she's so hit or miss it was inevitable that she wasn't going to make it. Its like all she could make are total winners and utter messes, which is too bad because when her bakes were good they were really good. The petit fours looked so off, the best ones just looked kind of dull, the worst looked like some kind of mutants that just crawled out of the sewer covered in radioactive sludge. I was surprised at how nice the judges were, on previous challenges it seems like they would have torn those apart. Kate didn't really stand out to me at first but she's winning me over.
  16. I missed Jack, I hope he's doing alright in off-screen land, but given his luck he's probably already fallen down an elevator shaft. So I am a bit confused, why do they even need to fire anyone now that Jack is gone? If the issue is that they have too many former captains running around, why not just move some to other houses? I doubt they'll be happy to move, but at least they wont be fired. Has no one mentioned the Union? Or are they bad guys? Essentially every organization in Seattle outside of Station 19 is full of moronic bigotted assholes who only exist to make our heroes lives harder, I cant even remember where we stand with them. Is it time for Warren to make another career change?
  17. That certainly got intense, those flashbacks were hard to watch. I knew something bad would happen to young Amanda but things escalated so quickly and got so scary. I can get why she planted evidence to get that piece of shit off the streets, but I can also see why Faith and Will were so hurt. Planting evidence, even if you know without a shadow of a doubt that they're guilty, can lead to all sorts of other consequences, if she got caught and it wasn't hushed up that could lead to every other person she arrested being looked at again even if every other arrest was on the up and up and guilty people could be set free, its just a hard situation she was in. Screw her dad, what an asshole. I am so not interested in Oremwood's family drama, he's a sucky husband and I don't love that his wife just disappeared without even telling her husband or kids where she was. I hope those SWAY guys who almost shot Amanda feel really fucking stupid. "A woman threatening children with a weapon? Get that lady jogging not anywhere near any other people except her friend and a chihuahua in a sweater! Who knows what that sweater wearing dog is capable of!"
  18. I really enjoyed the story with the Boo Hag, I grew up watching Gullah Gullah Island as a kid and lived in South Carolina for awhile so I was excited to see some of that culture depicted. I knew right away that the "witch" would be innocent and guessed early on that the preppy looking older guy would be the villain, but I still enjoyed the case and liked how it all played out. Its interesting that this is the second episode where Will learns about faith, with the pastor in the last episode and now the women here, two different faiths but Will had sort of similar arcs. I don't except Will to find religion or anything, but it seems like he is coming to terms with having faith in something he cant see isn't always a bad thing and people who practice it aren't always bad people. Ormewood and Angie are in a totally different show this week, it was a pretty funny b plot to have as relief with the more serious main plot. Not surprising that Ormewood's wife left, I don't blame her, but I hope she's not leaving the kids behind fully, and I don't love that she left him via note. I totally get her being done with him, but they at least need to talk.
  19. Wow, I so did not see that one coming! Here I thought this was just another bit of trolling the Buck/Eddie shippers, I spent the whole episode like "Oh yeah, they know exactly what they're doing, but they'll pull back at the last minute" but then it went in a totally different direction. Tommy fully looked like he was about to kiss Buck but I didn't think it would actually happen! If either Eddie or Buck were going to be bisexual I would certainly say Buck is the more likely, I am still pretty positive that their relationship will stay platonic no matter Buck's sexuality. I am really interested in how this plays out, I feel like Buck would be pretty chill about dating a guy without too much internal panic, but I can see him not being sure how to talk to his friends and family about it, even if he knows they would be perfectly supportive. As a reluctant Bachelor fan (I just cant stop! Its my crack!) it was fun to see the brief Bachelor crossover, its been hyped around Bachelor Nation for awhile now and I have to say you guys are lucky it happened this season when we had Joey, one of the most charismatic and non fuck boy Bachelors we've had in ages, and not one of the previous Bachelors, who would have bumbled all over the screen. Its wild to see Michael so big now, its definitely not the same actor but it will be interesting to have him back. Personally I would have been more mad about Michael fleeing the state to avoid an arrest warrant and then trying to hide it from Bobby and Athena, which is not only crappy but extremely stupid. Did he really not think his mom, a cop, would never find out that he has a warrant out for his arrest? That mom who shot her son was heartbreaking.
  20. Mary could lighten up about the drinking at the wedding, we all saw how much beer she chugged in Germany! This was a fun episode, the dueling baptisms were so ridiculous and rather offensive that it turned around and became hilarious. Its probably a lucky thing that neither Georgie or Mandy care all that much about religion or this would have probably been a much bigger fight. If Mary and Mandy's mom had just talked about it they could have pretty easily agreed on CeeCee being baptized in the Catholic church, Baptists don't even baptize people until they get older while its a big deal to baptize babies in the Catholic church, but of course both of them are ridiculously stubborn so a compromise was probably not going to happen that easily. Awww Sheldon called Amy hot AND listed her before his Nobel Prize! Narrator Sheldon really has grown! "Jesus drank wine!" "He probably needed it to deal with the likes of you!"
  21. Of course Trevor's brother found a loophole in the B&B's awards program so that he could stay there for free for a whole year, he really does take after his brother! I thought it was really sweet how happy Trevor was to see his brother and, in a weird big brother way, giving him a wet willy to give him that push out the door. Jeremy wasn't just at Fyre Fest, he was the last one to leave the island! Because he was having that much fun! Lots of hilarious lines all throughout, but the running jokes about Isaac freaking out about the existence of dinosaurs was amazing. I cant blame him, if I hadn't grown up knowing about dinosaurs I would be pretty shook too. "Much like the dinosaurs, he is gone." Looks like Carol is up to her old tricks again, she just cant stop treating Pete like garbage. At least he didn't get sucked into a relationship with her again AND he gained Thor's respect by solving a problem through violence! Never change, Thor. My guess is that Carol will get sucked off when she finally realizes that cheating on Pete was wrong, feel remorse, and actually apologizes.
  22. I cant believe they actually went there, I'm truly in shock. Not only did they kill off a main character, and its been awhile since they dropped a building on Melendez, but it was in such a sudden horrible way. I really liked Asher, he was a really interesting character and I would loved to explore more of him reconnecting with Jewish culture and navigating an engagement to Jerome, but instead we get this. It seems so shitty, random, and pointlessly dramatic for the shows final season, Asher deserved so much better than to be beaten to death by two random anti-Semites right when he was about to get engaged and was working towards making peace with both of his identities. https://www.thewrap.com/the-good-doctor-asher-death-season-7-episode-5-explained/ I found this interview about the choice to kill off Asher and while I get that the actor was ready to go, it really sucks that they decided to have him get murdered instead of giving him his happily ever after with Jerome. Apparently they wanted to remind us that "Life doesn't always have happy endings" which...I hate when show runners say shit like that when they decide to kill off a beloved character in an especially brutal and depressing way, like we all forgot for a second that people die. Oh wow, thank you SO MUCH for the reminder, for a second there I thought that we were a race of immortal elves, but thank you for your reminder of mortality!
  23. This was overall a pretty good episode, most episodes without Maddie or some pretty young women in a he said/she said case is a win for me, but it seems like it was close to being great. It would be so nice if we could just have an episode that's about solving crimes without any interruptions to remind us that Olivia is the best and most amazing detective/genius that ever lived. Even in this episode, where she wasn't even taking things personally, we have to make sure that we all know that she's in charge, that she's the only person who can cure agoraphobia and gives victims closure, she's the only one! Its nice that we have a much more full squad these days, its alwasy good to see Bruno, but its pretty hilarious watching them talking about canvasing basically all of New York when they seem to only have about five cops in the whole city who can do more than drop some minor exposition. I thought that getting over years of agoraphobia would be hard and probably require a mental health professional with years of experience, but it turns out to be super easy, barley an inconvenience, as long as you have candles and the hand of St. Olivia to hold! This girl should have just gone to a Yankee Candle years ago and she would have been fine! I wish that they had gone more into the whole third man syndrome thing, that's really interesting and I wanted it to be more important than it ended up being.
  24. I wish they had given us a recap, I really forgot just about everything that happened in the last batch of episodes, although lucky for me hardly anything has actually happened. Nothing has happened, I don't care about any of these characters, its not scary, its not even campy silly in a way that I can enjoy, its just a bunch of nothing. Something that made Rosemary's Baby work so well was the feeling of claustrophobia and the feeling that you never who you could trust, Rosemary was all alone most of the time in her apartment feeling isolated and paranoid, that and made the audience feeling those same feelings which made everything happening even creepier, but there isn't any of that here. Ana is usually out and about and there isn't much to keep us guessing about who is in on it an who isn't as its clear that basically everyone is in on it. So Ana has been prepped to be this baby factor since she was a baby? Did they also kill her mom? Why did the summary say that this was supposed to explain why Ana wants a baby so much? All we know is that the cult or whoever has been prepping her for whatever their evil plan is.
  25. This would have been a pretty solid episode if it wasn't so filled to the brim with embarrassing amounts of Olivia workshop. We not only have to watch her play her own greatest hits, obsessing over victims from literally a decade ago, she's not only the only one who can solve the case, she's also apparently an expert mechanic, better than even professionals. The sad thing is, there is something interesting in the bones of this, how different people respond to trauma and how it affects them over the years. Tonya went through something horrible and became a murderer, while Maria went through a similar horrible thing and become a cop, building a good life for herself, there really is a compelling story there, its too bad that its not really about any of that, its just the backdrop for more Olivia worship. Finn nailed it when he said that this wasn't about the victims, it was about Olivia. Can I just say again how much I hate Olivia's stupid whispering victim voice? She was talking to that girl like she was three, and not clearly in her early teens, if I was a victim I would be really annoyed at being condescended to in the middle of my life falling to pieces.
