  1. I was not expecting such an amazing exchange with Dua Lipa. This one is right up there with Stephen’s talk with Anderson Cooper about grief.
  2. I always listen (I follow via the podcast), even when Rachel is off. I still want to know the news at the deeper level the show provides.
  3. I can get behind waging psychological warfare on autocrats via social media. Vicious girls high school juniors sounds about right for it. Count me as another person who had no idea Willem Dafoe was from Wisconsin. I always thought he was a dyed in the wool New Yorker, like his character in the tenants’ meeting sketch. Katy Perry’s backup dancers and their costumes… wow. I love it when a performer really knows how to put on a show, even in the limited SNL stage area. Off the top of my head, Billie Eilish and Megan Thee Stallion maximized the space for their performances, too.
  4. The one thing I don’t like about any of the guys who replace her—and they do a great job otherwise—is that they always cut off the guests. They say something like, “Thank you for speaking with us tonight,” then immediately start the next story. Meanwhile, the guest’s “Thank you” is awkwardly run over. It happens very occasionally with Rachel, but she does give a second of pause and it’s usually a sound delay issue. With the guys it just sounds like they’re summarily dismissing the guest and ignoring/talking over them. I guess the producers should just start immediately cutting off the guest feed the second the “Thank you for coming” is over, whenever there’s a guest host.
  5. Rachel must have been in heaven over the A block. Heists AND Presidential history? Together?! What could be cooler?!!
  6. Can you picture the Don Jr and Eric Trump sketches? Day = Don.
  7. Interesting… I guess they changed up the end of the Romansplaining segment at the last minute. The closed captions on the YouTube video show a different joke (that I actually like better): Tired of speed dating? Try Swede dating, where you hook up with Alexander Skaarsgard at IKEA inside a Malm cabinet.
  8. I think he may be using a ring light with his webcam—the lighting is very noticeable. With so much light close and straight on, I think it just highlights his eyes more.
  9. If he had a hand in it, he wasn’t credited in IMDB.
  10. Seeing this sketch from 2015 again reminds me a lot of Seth’s graphics department …
  11. So glad they’re not going to drag this out!
  12. I love Wally! I always root for him to get lines rather than just a camera appearance, so he can earn extra 😄 I don’t know what I’m going to do over the next few weeks with no show and, most importantly, no Corrections. I laughed at loud at Mikey the Shoe sounding exactly like Seth’s impression of him!
  13. 😂 I immediately pictured her saying, “Oh, mmm, mmm. I ain’t playing that with you. How the hell I’m supposed to know what number you thinking!”
  14. The closest I can think of is Jeff Goldblum saying a big, very specific number and then immediately saying something like, “It’s amazing, I was right!” And clowning about it for so long that Stephen didn’t even get to say, “No.” That’s about the only thing you can do with that, and it’s now been done.
  15. Oh, man. Seth wants to do Best Of Corrections, and I would never be able to decide. Jackals are mentioning the knitting war+sweater, the rooster spy who couldn’t wink, the graphics department who gets off on humiliation…. Best Of would just be playing them all over from the top!
  16. The official rule of offside is that there needs to be two defenders (goalkeeper counts as one) between the attacker and the goal at the moment the ball is passed, not when it is received. So yes, you can dash past the defenders to get to a pass. The linesmen for your travel soccer games are terrible, unless there are special kid rules. (No penalty called if other team was the one who passed it, if you are even with but not past the defender, if you are just standing offside but don’t get involved in the play, or during throw-in, corner kick, or penalty kick.)
  17. I loved Casino Dreidl, with Bond and his rival having stacks of chocolate coins in front of them!
  18. He actually broke the news on Corrections the night before. I was super surprised it’s been kept quiet so long!
  19. After many times Jon Favreau has been on Stephen’s couch, he just did a great interview with Stephen on his Offline Pod Save America podcast. They talk about his shows with no audience vs audience, spending time online, Evie, January 6, comedy, cancel culture/consequences, politics, and much more. https://crooked.com/podcast/stephen-colbert-on-finding-laughter-in-the-darkness/
  20. Great episode! The cold open and Baby Yoda were a little meh, overdone, but everything else was hilarious. Weekend Update was on fire, and I loved Aidy’s Mama Earth teasing Colin.
  21. Yes! They stood out to me, too, since my answer is, “Water, flat; wine, sparkling.” 😄
  22. It’s a lifelong ear worm for those of us who were around back then! I knew immediately what song John was going to play, and sang along. ETA: Here’s a great history piece on the song and the Union. The first video is the one I remember more clearly from the ‘70s, but the 1981 version John showed is also included farther down. https://womenatthecenter.nyhistory.org/look-for-the-union-label/
  23. Marjorie Taylor Wanna-Greene is the perfect name for prison convict Barbie! John calling Cruella DeVille dogicidal inspired me to look it up—yup, canicide is a real word. That SAG actor may not be a rapist, but would he take a job acting in a pro-rape movie? The show’s own version of an anti-union propaganda film was the best! I actually liked it better than the celebrity cameos at the end. (Except Leslie Jones. I always love Leslie Jones!) I’m 100% with Void on his take on Bugs Bunny.
  24. Bootsie!!! ❤️ Oh my gosh, her son really is going to hell for that! I hope Paul Krugman actually does take her to dinner. In SNCTM, I thought everyone looked a little too “Hollywood head shot” for a sex club and, yup, you actually have to literally submit a head shot to get in. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snctm_(club)
  25. I didn’t know most of their names, but definitely remembered their faces/characters. But Laraine Newman? In absolutely no way forgotten!
