  1. I was thinking about the Fantastic Four and if they can't make it a 60s period piece (with 60s ideas of what future tech might be, and Jon Hamm as Ben Grimm) then they should totally do a FF tv series, but make it a 30 Rock style show within a show where the Fantastic Four's adventures are the show people in the MCU watch, and the show we are watching is the behind the scenes family drama.
  2. This was really cool and for how long it was I hardly noticed. Like others have said it looked gorgeous. I generally like westerns but it is usually hard not to fill the full of stock characters. Here even the stock characters were played really well (Sam Waterson is an awesome grizzled old lawman- who knew) and i don't think I have ever seen a western with a badass single mom character as one of the leads.
  3. I liked that fight scene, although Daisy almost taking out 2 Kree with just her fighting moves seemed like a bit of a stretch. She's not Captain America. But her not being able to hold her position hiding above them was some pretty cool/fun writing. One thing I do wonder about is how come people aren't more surprised when new humans show up? They said that no one can survive on earth and the base or whatever isn't really that big, so where do they think new people come from?
  4. The only thing I was curious about with the Fix guys was how does their system handle a problem with your car where you don't know what needs fixing. The big selling point was the app gives you a repair quote, but how does it handle an engine light on or a funny noise from the engine. I thought the concussion guys were smart taking Jim and Michael. Jim obviously has connections with pro sports and knows how to sell stuff. And remember from a few years ago Michael became the sponsor of the Canadian olympic ski team. Those kind of connestions to sports would be super valiable I think. Sure Arlene has marketing expertise, but I am also sure that Jim probably has a small army of marketing people working for him.
  5. What I didn't get was he agreed to take the deal before they even had the catfisher in custody. Did his lawyer not advise him of the possibility that he could plead guilty to help the NYPD and then they never find the catfisher. Also why was his career over. I mean i get he would probably lose endorsements, but are there really no convicted felons in MMA. And in regards about to Noah, has Olivia of all people not taught him to be careful around strangers and what to do? It just seemed weird that he could be picked up by someone in a busy store so easily without making a sound.
  6. It feels like they figured they knew this was probably their last season so they would go nuts and throw every standard sci-fi plotline that they haven't used at the screen to see how it goes. Like you said they had space, time travel, the post-apocalyptic future alien invasion and the whole legendary chosen saviors thing. Not sure if I like it yet though.
  7. It has been forever since I have seen X2 and even longer since I read God Loves Man Kills, but I remember Brian Cox being pretty awesome as Stryker. Yes I know they totally changed the character, but Brian Cox did great with the character they gave him (although not sure i have seen him in anything where he was bad). In the same movie Alan Cumming was a pretty solid Nightcrawler. Agreed though about time travel, seems like a massive recipe for disaster. Even great time travel stories can be hard for people to wrap their heads around (John Connor's dad is also his best friend). Trying to do that with super heros and adding diverging timelines, pocket universes and characters existing in multiple times would confuse a bunch of people even if done well. Which is too bad since when i read above that Marvel could get the rights to Kang i was initially excited, but there is a lot of crazy timeline shit associated with Kang that would annoy a bunch of people. The whole kind of thing where The Avengers beat one Kang and then a other shows up who may either be older or younger than the last one is probably too crazy for a lot of people. Which is too bad since there are some great Avengers time travel stories (especially since the FF rights also mean Doom and his time machine).
  8. On thing i did like in the end (can't remember if it was episode 12 or 13) was Frank showing some remorse for what happened in Afghanistan and how he was basically a hit man. Although i would have liked some information on Frank at the time and why he never questioned the fact that executing prisoners is super illegal.
  9. I really like Karen, and even more here then usual. She is very conflicted in her opinions like a real person. She dislikes violence, but she is someone who has been kidnapped and had her life threatened multiple times, so she carries a gun and is not afraid to use it. She also hates what Frank does I think but has a ton of sympathy for his situation (and what happened to his family) and probably thinks he had something like a psychotic break when his family was killed so she is willing to acccept what he does to some degree. Compare that to Matt Murdock who I think she has much less sympathy for because i think she feels Matt is just a guy who likes beating people up.
  10. He can be replaced, but look how many people complained when Daniel Craig was cast as Bond. A new actor as Logan would get much worse. I get it is about money, but fro Jennifer Lawrence's point of view, it is not like she is in a situation where it is either be in X-men or go work at 7-11. She has a ton of options for making a lot of money. From the studio's point of view they pay a bunch of money for someone who is already talking about how much she hates the role.
  11. I also can't believe how good this was considering how slow it started. With how strong it finished making it start so slow even had a point. I honestly and surprised that they pulled it off with how weak Luke Cage and Iron Fist were and how much of a letdown The Defenders was. As for season 2 maybe they should completely flip it. Make it a relationship type of show with married couple David and Sarah and their single friends who sometimes date Pete and Karen. And they all hang out in NYC together. Kind of like How I Met Your Mother, except instead to annoying Ted, you have murderous psycho Pete.
  12. Even if they were soldiers, coming onto the US property of a US citizen and kill him (not arrest him) without giving him any opportunity to surrender isn't really a soldier's job, so it is a good indication that they were bad guys.
  13. Is it just because they managed to snag like the biggest actress in the world that they keep pushing Mystique. Because other than that she has never, at leaat in the movies seemed like that interesting a character. And it seems like a role that Jennifer Lawrence hates playing (at least the body paint). I just read an article yesterday on ew.com where she said she was pretty much done with the character after the last movie, but begrudgingly went back because of her relationship with the director. And even after that she seems mad at herself for doing it. So it makes me wonder if she hates it that much why does anyone bother?
  14. That was crazy violent but super good. The only annoying thing was they obviously forgot to put Rawlins fake contact lense in his eye for his last scene on the bridge. Because he had 2 normal eyes.
  15. Speaking of the torch, i wonder if getting the rights to Johnny Storm torch would make it easier to use original robo human torch. Would love to ser a Cap flashback golden age movie with him, Bucky, the Human Torch, Namor and Peggy.
  16. Yea you could probably find a person to take on the role pretty easily and have him do well. That said, if you do it too soon, all of the media coverage of the movie (and most of the online chatter) will be focused on comparing the new actor to Hugh Jackman no matter how good he is.It will be like when Daniel Craig took over as James Bond (remember all the complaining) except way worse, since Pierce Brosnan wasn't the first Bond, Brosnan was only in 4 Bond movies over 7 years (not 9 movies) and Brosnan wasn't that great a Bond, especially in his last movie which was pretty bad.
  17. I would say retire Wolverine for at least 5 years, and then try to find someone else to handle the role. Jackman will be 50 next year, not sure I want to see him trying to pull off Wolvie in his 50s. Plus i am not sure i want to imagine what kind of brutal training regimen a 50 year old has to go through to get into Wolverine shape. Plus Logan was such an awesome sendoff Jackman coming back to the role would kind of cheapen that.
  18. This was probably the best episode yet for me. This show started off slow but has gotten really good. Way better than The Defenders. Agree with everyone that the radio shiw should have been Trish Talk, because Trish is awesome. Not having it be her is a missed chance, the kind of thing the marvel movies wouldn't make.
  19. So was David being drunk and then the assoicated hang over the reason they didn’t pick up on the fake homeland security operation? Because Madani said the fake operation was the only thing going up on the server and they had been monitoring the servers. Because if it was the drinking that makes sense and is some good writing. The other option being the writers just forgot about that. Also any guesses on what Billy injected his mom with, and why he did just use the IV injection port thing that was right next to her arm?
  20. I get a sense that police procedurals on network tv have a certain reputation among emmy voters (deserved or not) which makes it near impossible for them at this point to get much if any recognition. To the point where Jimmy Stewart could come back to life, guest star on NCIS and still not get an emmy nomination.
  21. I liked this episode, although Frank if you are trying to escape a military base and using a drone as visual support, maybe don't run into a long tunnel.
  22. Yea just looking at the lead actress drama nominee list for last year and the different types of shows they came from, I don't see someone from a 19 year old police procedural getting recognition. Especially an actress who has already won an emmy (and was nominated 7 other times) for the same role.
  23. I really thought Boyle's story telling was going to have some kind of payoff, like he was going to befriend the instructor or tell a story about removing casts, so i was surprised it was kind of pointless.
  24. That really bugged me, especially since Barba was right outside the room and they had already tried to give the woman access to a lawyer. But she also said something along the lines of how it must be hard for Benson to be such a beautiful woman since men must be staring at her all the time. I didn't think the actress was that great. It kept sounding like she was doing a bad Krysten Ritter impression. And i agree that she seemed mentally ill, or at least a tv version of mentally ill. At first i thought they were going for some kind of multiple personality thing.
  25. I think my favourite part was T'Challa saying to prepare the Wakanda defenses. Because I firmly believe that T'challa's government probably has a plan in the event of something like this. One of my favourite little bits from my Black Panther comic reading days was a panel that showed a view of T'challa's desk and he had a book sized report that was a contingency plan for his country in the event that Galactus attacked. Also hearing the Avengers theme at the end gave me chills like I was Peter Parker on a school bus. Honestly at this point I am not even sure i care. Let the other movies handle character development. By the time this movie comes out there will have been 18 previous movies to handle the character stuff. Just give me a decent, logical story and I am fine with 150 minutes or so of non-stop action.
