  1. I didn't take Dany's comment about Sansa the way you did. I didn't take it as a threat, just a comment that wasn't finished. And I laugh whenever someone quotes Sansa about men being easily manipulated. How the hell would she know? Who has loved her? Not Tyrion and not Ramsay. LF fed her that garbage that she could twist Ramsay around her finger and she saw how that worked out for her. If she believes LF loved her, she is a fool. LF played with her for his own means and when he thought it would save his life. How could she forget his first lesson about everyone being a liar. How many relationships has she observed where the man was manipulated by the woman he loved? I'm thinking none. As usual, when Sansa speaks, I pretty much roll my eyes and say unkind things. She needs to worry about her sorry self and examine how she's living her life before worrying about Jon's and Daenerys's relationship. Sansa doesn't care about Jon. She cares about Sansa. As for Jon, he may love Daenerys (or thinks he is in love with her), but I haven't seen any signs of him being manipulated by her.
  2. I have to admit I was taken aback by Daenerys's tone and expression with Jon as well. I don't think that Jon is afraid of her as much as I think he has been hit with a lot (in a relatively short period of time) and he's trying to reconcile a lot of conflicting information not to mention feelings. I expect there is a blow out coming between D&J (maybe wishful thinking on my part since nothing I've expected to see has come to pass so far). But she was unable to get Jon to bend the knee until he felt she was worthy of it. She may see that steely, stubborn side to him again if she proves herself unworthy.
  3. Two things. First, you realize Ghost is a CGI creation, right? I don't think Kit Harington has anything to do with the oddness of the scene. And second, CGI Ghost is a direwolf, not a dog. I love Ghost and have missed him a lot, but it looks like he fought the good fight and SURVIVED! He deserves a well earned break from the idiocy south of (what's left of) the wall.
  4. Correction. Dany knows that Westeros will support Jon. He is a native. He has ties. He knows how they work. One of the main concerns the Westerosi have is that Daenerys is “a foreigner.” She was told by Jorah that would be the case before she even left Essos. Jon knows you don’t keep secrets from your family. So he didn’t. Dany (as much as I love her) doesn’t get to tell someone to deny who they are.
  5. She told him to wait until they could get more men. Check. If she was being Team Stark instead of Team Sansa, she was more than obligated to give Jon information. After all, all of those people who were on the field (some who had no dog in the fight) were there because she wanted to take back their home and save their brother. However, she didn't say when they would get more men or that there was another option on the table. She kept pertinent information to herself; information that may have changed Jon's decision. His reason for going to fight when he did was legitimate. He did not want to get caught out in the open with winter storms crippling them like Stannis did. Everything that followed doesn't change the fact that by withholding information (the Vale army was nearby and would come when called) Sansa shaped the events. So, yeah, it's Sansa's fault. If she wasn't being sneaky and underhanded, she would have given Jon an option that would have certainly changed what happened.
  6. No. It's because Jon's father (Rhaegar) was the crown prince and heir to the IT. Viserys and Daenerys were Rhaegar's brother and sister. Any children Rhaegar had, born in wedlock if you will, would be next in line after him. The only reason Viserys and Daenerys thought they had any claim was because they didn't know about Aegon (Jon). Jon's claim will always be stronger regardless of whether or not he wants it. Jon being male is secondary. Tormund has two hands. Just saying.
  7. Speaking for myself, I've never cared for Sam. I only tolerated him slightly because of his friendship with Jon. But Sam has always gotten on my last nerve whenever danger was afoot. It took him so long to shank the WW when he and Gilly were making their way back to the wall I thought for sure he would be killed. The being unable to save his ass by running and the sniveling and crying just don't work for me. And I have the right to HATE him and his uselessness without explanation or apology. He is a fictional character. On another note, I just finished watching the extras for this episode on HBO. I really can't stand D&D. Why is it they can't pronounce Missandei or Cersei? And all the Sansa is LF Jr. nonsense they like to spew bugs the crap out of me. Sansa is not the sharpest knife in the drawer so stop telling me she is.
  8. I'm curious. When was Sansa going to tell Jon about the additional men? She didn't tell Jon anything that he didn't know, but instead of providing a solution, she made an obvious statement then sat there with a stupid, "deer in headlights" look on her face. She had every opportunity to step up and do the right thing. But she didn't. And there was no indication when she might decide to. I WILL NEVER EVER FORGIVE SANSA FOR BOTB. There are no amount of excuses that ever will make me like her after that.
  9. LOL I'm sorry. I don't think Jon needed Sansa to tell him that. And she is a disloyal, traitorous bitch. She damn well almost did let Jon and the entire force who fought for WF be slaughtered. To quote someone else, she gets no points from me for doing what she should have done in the first place.
  10. Who is asking you to give her points? I'm not. Daenerys went in as a conquerer and liberated the enslaved. Their laws sucked and they were removed. It's all well and good to claim the law is on your side when you are abusing others and depriving them of their liberty. I say, fuck the law. When its oppressive and corrupt, it needs to be reworked. Daenerys reworked it. Too bad that the high born had to carry their own water or pay someone to do it. Cersei hasn't liberated anyone, but she certainly murdered countless innocents to get back at a few people when she had wildfire ignited under the sept. Daenerys crucified people who were more than likely responsible for crucifying CHILDREN to make a point. The dragon feeding incident was no worse than strapping a woman to a table for a monstrosity to violate repeatedly. It was showing authority as the HMFIC. In fact, what Cersei did was far more egregious. And finally the Khalasar was destroyed because its leadership was crude, vulgar and threatened Daenerys's person repeatedly. Her first impulse may be worrisome, but she has not acted on it yet. Can you say that about her adversary?
  11. Thanks for the Cliff Notes version. LOL Why should Jon keep a secret about his identity now? Robert is dead. There isn't a threat to him on that level. I don't believe Dany would harm him because of that, but if she tries...then maybe she is going nuts. Who says they won't? Yara asked for independence back in Meereen and Daenerys granted it.
  12. I am still trying to make some sense of The Last of the Starks. There were more than a few head scratching moments, so I'll just jump right in. I guess really important discussions are happening off screen or in a crypt somewhere like Jon's and Daenerys's. They can still be in love with each other when Daenerys has thrown such an ultimatum in his face? I have supported both characters throughout the series, but WTF are they thinking? I get that Jon doesn't want to rule and is willing to abdicate his position to her, but she has asked too much of him. First, deny who he is so her claim can go unchallenged? And second, not tell his (for all intents and purposes) siblings his true identity? Yes, I understand that things will get very messy for you Daenerys Stormborn, yada, yada, yada, but life is messy. You of all people should know this. Find a way to deal with it that doesn't include Jon lying about who he is. Jon, are you so tired of the leadership burden and responsibility that you will just let Daenerys steam roll over you? Whaaaaaaaat? Maybe you should have taken a vacation to clear your head and get perspective. A trip North with Tormund and Ghost doesn't look so bad now, does it? But at any rate, I could not get behind the position or posture Daenerys took in their scene. Sam and Gilly. Egads. Please let this be the last that I see of them. I still can't get over what a blob of blubbering mess he was last week. Gendry being made Lord of wherever. Yeah. Whatever. Really? This just came out of left field and I really can't see a justification for it, but if it gets him gone for the remaining episodes, I'm good. Gendry all of a sudden asking Arya to be his lady? I slapped my head against the pillow I was holding. I'm going to chalk it up to extreme giddiness at being made legitimate and a land owner to boot that prompted that nonsense. A one night hook-up doesn't mean one falls madly in love and wants to get married. The only right thing about that scene was Arya's response. Good on her. Speaking of Arya, in a lot of ways she is like Jon. She doesn't let adulation go to her head. She did what needed to be done (shanked the NK) and is now carrying on with her agenda. It made me smile to see her and the Hound going on another road trip together. Jaime and Brienne. That was just wrong. I was quite happy with whatever they were prior to last night. I did not need to see the clumsy groping and clutching between them. I've never given them a thought as a couple and I still don't. I'm going back to my happy place before they shagged. So once again I have been robbed of Sansa's comeuppance. I really wanted to see her face when she learned Jon's true identity. I guess I will be forever denied justice when it comes to the Lady of Winterfell. I can't stand Sansa. Her actions last night just cemented it for me. I don't know what she's thinking, but I want to slap her really, really hard; if for no other reason than to wipe that pinched, smug expression off her face. She is disloyal to family over and over again. When Jon asked her and Arya to swear to keep what they would hear to themselves, Arya did so without hesitation. She will not betray Jon. Sansa? Couldn't hold water if she were an airtight drum. Let's tell someone. Let's tell Tyrion who is already conflicted and having his own family issues. Why? Because Jon would be better? I don't think Sansa thinks that. Sansa just wants to get rid of anyone who may stand between her and the position of Lady of Winterfell. And she thinks Tyrion is sweet on her. If he is, he really is dumber than he looks. How I wish one of the NK's minions had ripped Sansa's guts out. Bronn. His one horse show bored me years ago. Why is he still alive? Oh, yes, because scum always manage to slither through cracks to annoy another day. I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the lack of reaction on the Lannister brothers' part after hearing Cersei put a hit on them. Even so, Tyrion has the stupidity to appeal to her once again on the grounds of decency? I'm biting my pillow now. Did he have his brain scrubbed when he fell in the water at Old Valyria? Cersei is a hateful, insane bitch. She would have murdered him many times over happily for the least of reasons. Now all of a sudden she will change her stripes because she's breeding again? She will use that unfortunate child as a weapon. I can't with Euron. He is just so cartoonish and outrageous, that I cringe whenever he's on screen. BUT, I want him to pay dearly for killing that dragon. I want Euron, Qyburn and Cersei to die horrible deaths ON SCREEN damn it. There was no reason to kill Missandei, but that's Cersei. I want her dead. I don't care who does it, but hopefully it will be Arya. The conversation between Tyrion and Varys, okay, both of y'all just need to STFU. You both have agendas and I don't know that you are necessarily judging Daenerys fairly. She is making mistakes, but she has not gone mad, killed people who didn't deserve it or threatened her authority and hasn't unleashed her fire-breathing babies on the hapless populace. She started out from a strong, invincible position and now she has lost 2 dragons, more than a few of her troops and her dearest advisors. She should have destroyed KL years ago. I would have been perfectly okay with it. Her advisors keep handicapping her. She's playing fair against a monster who could give a shit about anyone. Daenerys will not win without being just as brutal.
  13. I love this (the part in bold)!
  14. These are all arguments that have been made and defended (many times by me in previous season threads) too many times to count. I’m sorry, but I don’t want to take them up again. I am not going to change your mind (I don’t want to) and you’re not going to change mine. The narrative is Jon’s a hero. You don’t like it, but it is what it is. Unless the narrative changes in the next few episodes, let’s just agree to disagree.
  15. I would agree except Jon is a hero. Most all who have encountered him in his world agree, as do I. A hero doesn’t have to win every battle, s/he just needs to stay true to his/her convictions and try.
  16. This makes no sense. You cannot make an informed choice without all of the information. If Jon knew his true identity he may not have joined the NW, but if he knew and then took the vow, that’s a different matter.
  17. I disagree. How can you renounce something you don’t know you have, no one knows you have? This may be the start of another debate that goes nowhere. If so... Peace out.
  18. Well, if you’re referring to Jon, he had no claims or titles to renounce when he joined NW. He was just Ned Stark’s bastard. Presumably, the reason he joined in the first place was because he had no status at WF or in the Stark household.
  19. Jon pledged his life and died; therefore, his watch ended. It all seems really clear cut and simple to me. There is no clause for “if you die and are resurrected you are still bound to NW.”
  20. You are being harsh and perhaps not read the many eloquent posts in this thread that explained exactly what Jon, Dany and Bran did. Who says Cersei was right? I hope that hateful bitch gets the shock of her life when winter comes for her ass. Don't blame Viserion! Poor baby was murdered and was no longer Viserion when the NK got him. Yes, but it really didn't even wound Drogon severely and he beat the shit out of it when he landed.
  21. I am so glad this didn't happen. It would have been wrong on so many levels. Nope. I've never liked Sam really and his arc with Gilly always bored me to tears. I agree. I think most of the "Jon hate" stems from the fact that Kit Harington is pretty and has wonderful hair, AND the character he portrays is stoic and heroic. Not sure what you're trying to say here. Without bravery and honesty the world would sink into chaos fed by humanity's worst instincts. Based on what? Your opinion is valid for sure, but I don't think Joe Dempsie is any superstar in acting prowess. I think the casting on this show has been pretty well perfect. My opinion of course.
  22. Why am I not surprised that you thought that? I saw Jon do plenty of fighting on the ground and it was good to see Dany do some fighting. She should be able to fight and protect herself if she wants to rule.
