I loved how the Variety article emphasized that they ironed out their differences over a "cookie summit". That's how all of life should work. Have differences? Heading towards a diplomatic showdown? Sit down with cookies! The world at large could learn a great deal from this!

I guess Twin Peaks isn't using COVER GIRL (we get more screentime and close-up shots than some of our cast members!) makeup!

Ah - didn't catch that the guy Mike was interviewing was Becky's loser boyfriend ... you can tell where my eyes were focused during that entire scene!

More of the other way around on the kids - to me the one across the street has more of the Black Lodge vibe...though that may be due to the mother's "backward talk" ("1-1-9") When the original TP was on, the male cast member i crushed hardest on was Gary Hershberger (Mike) so i recognized him immediately. Wish that scene gave more indication as to specifically what company/industry he was working in or he was was even still in TP for that matter. That was one of the things that really struck me - how easily Amanda Seyfried and Madchen Amick actually looked like they could be mother/daughter. Great casting there! ALWAYS love when actors cast as family members actually look related. (Mrs. Palmer and Laura had that going for them too and now that Sheryl Lee's older, you can see even more a resemblance.)

S07.E16: The Glove That Rocks the Cradle

I'm on that Halloween Train with you. Lucas just made too much damn sense for at the very least, an AD helper. Been there since "The First Secret" (and earlier), game design, leaving the loft to Hanna which no doubt would be bugged to high heaven, connections to other characters, all the "dark side" stuff they role called last night. I want so badly for him to have just given a cover story and still be part of AD's team. But sadly they wrapped up his character arc with too tidy a bow this ep. To me, she would be the most satisfying AD - she's a Hastings and is older than the PLLs so knows more of the secrets that have been kept from them, her toes with NAT, previous threats to Ali, all her varied alliances with others in the anti-PLL camp, and the fact that every single time she comes under suspicion throughout the entire show's history, she addresses stuff with vague answers and soon gets "cleared" by the next bright shiny suspect diverting their attention away from her. Sketchiest character on the show that no matter what answers Show gives us, i'm going to refuse to believe she was an innocent in all the big stuff. -
Somehow, i just love the whole idea of two soap actors naming a child of theirs "Hutch" - such a soap opera character name!

Somehow i suspect in casinos across the country this week, each will have at least one person in it yelling "Helloooo" at all the slot machines they play to the total bewilderment of everyone else around them.

Check out Mark Frost's "The Secret History of Twin Peaks" - i've been pleasantly surprised that even though interviews around the time of the book's release indicated that the show itself wouldn't tie into the book that much, in actuality there's a lot going on that seems very connected to it. When The Log Lady said the something missing ties into Hawk's heritage, i jumped up and screamed "THE BOOK!" Many other moments i ended up doing the same.

S07.E15: In the Eye Abides the Heart

I don't think so - She would have had to change and get out of makeup pretty shortly afterward for the Emily in a box/two redcoats stuff. -
Also take into account at that time they thought season 5 might be the last season which would have made the pacing out of the original story much better. A lot of season 5b-7a has been filler to stretch out the story for the rest of the series til the wrap-up.

OLTL Outside Llanview: The Cast In Other Roles
dwmckim replied to Chairperson Meow's topic in One Life To Live
The episode she's in will air on Showtime this upcoming Sunday (Episode three). The episode has actually already been made available online prior to its premiere television airing via Showtime online and Hulu so you could actually view it now but be forewarned...you'll see a lot more of her than you'll probably care to! (At least she's not Holding any Pepperoni) -

And there you have it, folks - AD is none other than Charlemagne the Great, the magician from Ravenswood. -
Tears of joy (and years of sadness) that Catherine Coulson was able to film her Log Lady scenes before she was gone. And that they actually incorporated her illness into the story/character. My heart is just filled with love seeing her there to deliver one more message but also filled with sadness at how weak she is. What really broke me was the very sad pleading way she would say Hawk's name. Each time she'd do so, i'd start to tear up. I'd love to see this at the end of the series: Margaret finally passes away (in her sleep painlessly). She's actually discovered wearing a wedding dress since her log told her that tonight she'd finally be reunited with her beloved husband again. By her log is a note reading "My log and I are both in agreement. There's nobody we'd want more to be its caretaker than Dale Cooper." Cooper inherits it with great honor and pleasure and becomes Twin Peaks' Log Man. One of the last times we see him, he's in the Double R Diner, orgasmically dining on cherry pie and coffee, conveying a message from the log to someone and finally spitting out some pitch gum and sticking it on the wall.

An observation about ShowKevin vs. BookKevin - it's kind of odd that (as far as i recall though i may be wrong), Kevin isn't part of the Blue and Gold staff, since in the books, the reporting business was Kevin's career aspiration. (In Life With Archie, he instead goes into the military and runs for office upon his return home but in the new Life with Kevin, we follow him post high school as he goes to New York to work in TV News) Then of course, there's Reggie, whose father was the newspaper publisher in the books as opposed to the Coopers... I mentioned in another thread that i was actually kind of heartbroken when Jughead mentioned in ep10 that he probably wouldn't have anything to do with Kevin if he wasn't a friend of Betty/Archie's since i loved the Jughead/Kevin friendship in the books (Jug is Kevin's first Riverdale friend). But the show could totally make it up to me if in Season 2, Jug and Kevin bond over a food eating challenge as they've done in the books. This would actually accomplish a few things: (1) Create more of a relationship/interaction between Jughead and Kevin (2) Give Kevin some additional layers beyond "being the token gay stereotype" and elements to his personality that are rooted in the source material. (3) I'm also all for anything that depicts Jughead bonding over his ultimate true love: Back to Burgers!

S01.E13: Chapter Thirteen: The Sweet Hereafter
dwmckim replied to The Crazed Spruce's topic in Riverdale
Edited out, not written out - there's a difference. Shows tend to tape a little more than they probably need for the final edit because having too much material and having to make cuts is a far easier problem to fix than not having enough to fill out the required time. The scene with Reggie ultimately didn't contain anything essential story-wise so as much as it's sad that what would have been Ross-as-Reggie's scene didn't make it to air, i can understand the reasoning behind why it had to be sacrificed (then there's the possibility that when they were editing, they knew they lost Ross for S2, so they made the creative choice to leave Ross' Reggie scene out of the final episode to allow for an easier transition to a new actor next year.) But either way, rather than holding on to that scene as one of many that would probably be included as a bonus feature on a dvd box set, they made it available to the public within 24 hours on the episode's airing, so that was a respectful thing to do for Ross/Reggie fans. Yes it was! -

I was not expecting the finale to be like that. Well played. I guess i'm the UO here but i was so THANKFUL the Serpents arrived when they did. Archie and Veronica having sex i can take. Jughead going there just seemed way too wrong. Hail to the cockblockers! (With Hot Dog too!) Cover Girl has gotten more screentime than Josie & the Pussycats this season. This is just super insulting: Not only did Melody not have any lines (again) but did anyone else notice during the shots of Veronica, Josie, and Melody sharing a mike that Melody didn't even appear to be SINGING? Her lips did not move. She was just swaying in place. Seriously, what did the actress do to someone powerful that got them so pissed off at her that they subject her to such humiliation? -
S07.E15: In the Eye Abides the Heart
dwmckim replied to AmandaPanda's topic in Pretty Little Liars [V]
True, but regardless of the writing of the episode, as director, Troian has creative license to present it in whatever frame and interpretation she chooses. If she gets a scene that she feels is garbage or bs, she can go to town with how it's screened and plays out. -
No. She's a minion. She was serving as a mouthpiece for A.D. Later, Aria noticed the wire in her ear and pressed her to answer why she herself was doing this. I guess this is the Unpopular Opinion here but i had no problem whatsoever with Sydney and Ted's roles in this episode. As i mentioned in last episode's thread, she may not have had as much screentime in the grand scheme of the series, but i do consider Sydney to be an important part of the puzzle and among the various unanswered questions/open plotthreads that needed to be addressed. Regardless of the season she was first introduced or how much airtime she's had, she's one of the characters who have been very close to Jenna...one of her closest allies. She was part of the meeting between Mona, Jenna, herself and an unknown fourth person. She and Jenna later became part of Alison's Entourage of Twins at the Ice Ball when the Liars were suspecting Sli of being A or at least Mona's killer. I like getting some kind of confirmation that Sydney is not only aware of the A Game but is part of it. Hopefully that's paving the path to one of the answers i want satisfactory closure on: how far back has Jenna known about the whole A Game thing and how much? Was she ever actually a part of Mona's original A Team or was she actually an unknown puppet master of Mona's? Jenna has ties with the original NAT Club - does that tie in with the origins of the A Game? Everyone always seems to have forgotten the Season 2A cliffhanger where it revealed Jenna/Garrett had an active role in framing the Liars and must have either been a part of the A Team or knew enough about it to "piggyback" off it. As for Ted, i always liked him and missed him when he wasn't as much a part of the show. Not only am i happy to finally see him again post time jump but back when they namedropped that the baby under Mary's care who died while babysitting was named Ted seemed like a purposeful nod (obviously not the same Ted but it seemed like a "heads up" type of callout.) Ted's also had access to the NAT Club flash drive videos that Ian lost in the church after his confrontation with Spencer in the S1 finale. He's not only been engaged to Ashley but before that attempted to date Ella...interesting that he's attempted to get close to two of the PLL's mothers. Ted was with Ashley the Halloween night she had a visit from the Twin Ghost Girl. There's always been a little bit of an undercurrent of "is there more going on with this character than The Good Pastor"? I'm satisfied with the reveal of him as Charlotte's father. Various thoughts: Is it just me or near the end as Ali was looking out the window did anyone else start singing "Death is everywhere - there are flies on the windscreen"? When Aria knocked down the wine glass, i so wanted the game to award her a carnival style stuffed animal for her successful throw. In between Toby and Marco, Spencer's catching up to Ali's record of sexing up members of the Rosewood PD. A large part of me wishes Ali would be more jealous of that that anything Paily related. Spencer's starting to remind me of Baby Sinclair from Dinosaurs: "Not The Mama!" There was a time when Author/Amateur Detective/Superspy Ezra (back when his life was about his True Crime Book and stalking the Liars even more than the actual A seemed to be doing) had suspected Mrs. DiLaurentis of being A. And if memory serves that was around the time that was flashbacked to tonight when "Jessica" turned up behind Spencer in her house. Can Show PLEASE remember about and bring back that Ezra who could actually have some really real relevance to the mysteries and not just bogged down in EZZZZria drama? Get him away from that suckfest and get him spilling about all he knew at the time about Jessica and why he believed she was A? Did he actually ever know about Mary in all his research? Was any of this in his Boxes of Secrets that he warned Peter he may not want opened and revealed? Aria gained some points tonight for being approached to be part of the A Team (which should give all the Aria-as-A theorists a nice consolation prize to be content with even if she's not "Big A") but also lost just as many for walking in a room with pages of an Ezra Fitz manuscript thrown all over the floor and failing to flashback to the time when she was the one who had done the manuscript throwing/apartment trashing. Is that the guy you want to choose you over another fiancee? The other PLLs don't yet know about Aria being approached by AD to switch sides so Massive Fail for not one of them uttering a line along the likes of "Damn it Aria, why is it A - no matter which A it is - always seems to give you a pass in comparison to the rest of us?"

The Episode Directed by Troian Bellisario ("Spencer"). Whatever answers or reveals this episode may or may not have, i'm expecting this episode to be one of the entire series' standouts for that reason alone. Troian's always seemed to have her pulse on what the PLL audience has felt about the show more than any of the creative PTB. -
Saying it just because someone has to... This is the episode where finally at long last, someone gave Rosewood PD the finger.

I post a lot of snark. Here and on the old TWOP boards. But at the same time, i also give credit where it's due. Probably the actor i've harped on the most over the years has been Keegan Allen. Throughout the show's run, boy just could not act - whether it was hollow-eyed freak Toby, sexed-up love interest Toby, red herring A Toby, hairstyle of the week Toby. Pretty Eyes could bring the pretty but thar's all he brought to the table. But tonight, he did an outstanding job during his end scene wordlessly expressing Yvonne's death. Well done. Which just goes to show anything really can happen in these final episodes. On a different note, i didn't mind seeing Sydney again at all. Quite frankly i would have disappointed if we didn't. This show has a large numbers of open plotthreads, unresolved questions/mysteries, etc. As one of the people who's been supposedly closest to Jenna i want her there to provide some closure. Now if they can just please find a way to tie in (or at least mention) The NAT Club to the ending i'll be happy. NAT was the original "watchers" and they need to play some kind of part in all this.

Speaking of New Wave/Archie Comics, i never ever bought that The Archies would sound like the musicians who recorded "Sugar Sugar". They always struck me as having more of a B-52s sound (Betty & Veronica especially seem like they'd have a Kate/Cindy vibe). So the closest i'll probably get to hearing that happen was hearing Archie/Veronica cover Kim Wilde. I'll take it!
