  1. Riverdale's always been about the milkshakes. I guess now it's also about the floats.
  2. I was already predicting the answer before clicking on the link: "Less feathers, less forks" - howled in laughter when Lucy did mention the feathers
  3. As a major Muppet fan, i did a huge happy dance upon hearing the news - i always love when different elements of my separate fandoms collide!
  4. And did she bring her real-life dolls back to the States with her or did she sell them? Did she use Craigslist or do an Ebay auction?
  5. Aw just think - if the awful Thughead story wasn't eating the show, how much fun Bughead potential could exist right there. With Cooper breakfasts like that, there's no way the Jughead i Know and Love wouldn't be constantly showing up unexpectedly at the door in time to take a seat at the table already equipped with knife, fork, and napkin around the neck before even getting into the house! Hi Val&Melody - always nice to see you pop up for your occasional no-lines cameos. Bye, Val&Melody... Missed opportunity: When Betty gave Chic her laptop, she could have also thrown in as a bonus her Dark Betty wig. Scene i'd love to see: Betty introduces Chic to Archie - Archie: "Oh yeah, i know him! He directed our Black Hood viral video." But enough small talk - now let's talk about the thing that i was most struck by this episode and pretty much dominated all my attention and focus... "OH MY GOD - Gamechanger!! ... Kevin GOT HOT!" What the heck - where did that body come from all of a sudden? Where has it been? Does Casey Cott have a secret brother that just for a lark took his place this episode? Was the show given a huge CGI budget for being a comicbook-based show but didn't really need it since it's not about superheroes so they decided to put it all on beefing up Kevin all of a sudden? Mind just blown! I mean really, it was so distracting on multiple levels - first there's the tongue-dropped-on-floor reaction at the previously unnoticed hawtness, then there's the whole "Where did YOU come from all of a sudden?!"ness but then it was also distracting from everything else about the character - why is this bonafide hunk making continual remarks about Archie being the one looking like a god and not the other way around and why is someone who looks like that fighting loneliness so much when he should be attracting guys like flies? Boy must have woken up to the fact that his own dad is a total hottie ... and he's got all that bodybuilding equipment in the basement, so the little lightbulb must have gone off over his head and now we know how he must have been spending all his time lately...apparently just about nonstop every-moment-he's-at-home for the last several weeks...guy must have just been obsessively pumping iron at all odd hours repeating over and over "woods no more..." Or maybe with Jingle Jangle having fallen out of favor in Riverdale now, something else has taken its place?
  6. Don't know if clips of just that scene are online, but the full episode that it appears in is. Blair/Cord "He was Mine" July 15 1994 (video is actually mislabeled July 19) B/C scenes at 2:25, 9:26, 18:57, 33:06, 38:57
  7. I also think OLTL would be especially relevant in the present given that the newspaper industry is at its heart - with all the attacks on the press, OLTL would be such a powerful forum for stories dealing with such issues.
  8. Since the show loves to do homages to Twin Peaks whenever it gets the chance, i totally perked up when i caught the flickering lights in the motel. Flickering lights/electricity is a major motif in TP signifying danger/evil (typically involving the supernatural dark forces). The show wasn't too subtle about Chic being creepy and not to be trusted at episode's end - but with the addition of the flickering lights, i take that as a signal that he's involved in multiple levels of darkness. Since i always watch with subtitle captioning on, i lol'ed at the scene where Betty and Alice were getting into the car as the captions read "Keys jangling" and all i could think was "Jingle Jangle"
  9. ...or it means that she took singing lessons from Melody - check out the S1 finale during the J&tP song where she's at a mike supposedly singing backup but doesn't open her mouth. And that after having about three blink-and-you'll-miss-them speaking lines the whole season.
  10. You really hit it on the head. Rex as a character and Rex's stories in general always had lots of potential at first, but got messed up as they went along, i believe to a number of factors: - they often got pushed to frontburner when they really shouldn't have gone beyond supporting - in conjunction with that, tptb wanted to force Rex stories on viewers shoving them down our collective throats - JPL could have been a better actor if he wanted to be. He had the potential but somewhere along the line, he gained a lot of favorable attention from soap convention-type fans and soap press for being comedic and hit went to his head in a way where he embraced a total ham acting, camera mugging style that he had too hard a time breaking. - the various headwriters each had their own particular flaws and they always seemed to be amplified when writing Rex stories.
  11. Getting caught up on the episode threads - as others have responded, yes, this is something from the books, but just to elaborate a little further, it's actually a pretty frequently referenced element in them. Also in the books - in an element that (sadly - since it would be another something to make Archie more interesting/add some more fun colors) hasn't carried over into the show - is that Archie has a major clunker of a car! Betty's often the one coming to the rescue fixing it up when it breaks down.
  12. "I'll kindly ask you to leave me out of anything Rex/Gigi related. Thank you." -Destiny Evans
  13. So for those wanting to check the GH episodes with Nora in them this go-round, here's the list so far: Monday Nov 13 / Wed Nov 15 / Tues Nov 21
  14. A heavily recurring comment in this thread is the show right now is too dark without enough lightness/humor to balance it out. Given how much they've always acknowledged all along they held Twin Peaks as a major inspiration, they need to remember that aspect of the show - they were very very dark but each episode was also filled with lots of zany humor and of all levels. Get in touch with that! Keep in mind the source material! Add some more slapstick. Set the pies flying! Speaking of Riverdale/Twin Peaks... Betty could be Riverdale's Tojamura!
  15. That will probably happen in the near future. Not just because historically that's how things tend to happen - but also that would make her very much like ComicsToni - often used as a silent background/extra in scenes or on covers.
  16. Anticipating a fan edit of the same visuals done instead to "Lollipop" Jughead kissing ANYONE is actually "out of character" Loving that typo so much that this is now going to be an actual expression i plan on using! I swear it's the truth
  17. Actually the end needs to be that Jughead's writings are rejected as a novel. But then accepted as a comic book.
  18. I've read The Archivist's dossier in The Secret History of Twin Peaks... I've read The Final Dossier... Now i want to read Ben Horne's "fascinating dossier" on Josie Packard
  19. Did i blink during this episode's blink-and-you'll-miss-it no-dialogue appearance of Josie and the Pussycats? Or was that role totally filled by Cheryl this episode...girl shouldn't hang around with the cats, otherwise stuff like this happens! Or maybe she's just becoming much more like her twin brother? If it would just have been Archie in the video, i could get on board with the others who've mentioned the reaction by the town was overdone - but he had a whole group of other kids in it appearing "anonymously" and stripped down and as a parent, i'd be concerned that so many others are being brought into this - not only inciting the focus of more violent attacks but perhaps some more Grundy's as well (I mean how many of the kids' parents came home to "THIS is what you guys do when you get together? Maybe you need new friends?" Major missed opportunity - if i was Veronica and wanted to have everyone wear shirts with red targets, i'd just have them all wear Target (i.e. the store) shirts. That way, if confronted by someone/getting in trouble about it, they could just claim "Oh it's not about THAT - Target's just really in right now". From a show standpoint, that could have been some sly cross-promotion/product placement.
  20. Let's not forget Fred Andrews who's "looking extremely DILFy today" Why is he the only one not shirtless?
  21. The person who shot Fred/killed Grundy seemed different than the one who shot M&M. Can't help thinking the latter is a copycat and both killers have their separate agendas. Though if that's the case original killer didn't have any problem taking credit for the second one's crime (copycatting the copycat). Don't recall there was any physical evidence provided like Fred/Grundy's for M&M's attack and in their case, it was just his say-so. I can buy people calling the teen's group over calling the police. The idea at least is that they'll come as soon as possible to provide some physical presence if no other witnesses may be around if one's feeling unsafe where a typical police response would be "we can't do anything/expend resources sending someone out until a crime has been committed" Not a bad first episode for Toni - but of course if ShowToni is going to be anything like BookToni, then she needs to be completely barely used in the show proper but totally present in all the advertising/promotional images (but then again that's what Josie & The Pussycats are currently for) Don't know if that video is going to have any effect on the Black Hood himself but they'll probably have mucho success attracting the attention of several more "Grundys" Some thoughts on Kevin's cruising. First, even if Betty/Mr Keller totally took Kevin's cover story of "night jogging" at his word, they still should have been taking him to task because even that in itself would be pretty dangerous enough right now. The fact that Betty brought this to his dad's attention would be the big thing that would make me upset with her. Taking something personal to a parent is a major betrayal of trust to a teen. If it hadn't been for that indiscretion, i don't think Kevin would have been as chilly towards Betty at the end. Add me to the list of people who they got with that stabbing fake-out. I was already wary of the guy in the car since they weren't showing his eyes. Quite honestly, if i was in Kevin's shoes, i'd be too concerned that -again even without their being a killer(s?) on the loose at present - that one of my hookups wasn't going to be gay but rather a gay-basher looking to bait a target. Others have commented upthread about the timeline (pretty much right after having the relationship with Joaquin) and the fact that he actually does seem to have more options open to him than what he speechified about (though to his credit, if your closest friends are the likes of the Archie gang who all seem to have been doing a fair number of partner swapping in rapid succession, i'd get pretty jealous of "my straight friends" in comparison with my own life). I don't think the show will go there story-wise, but i think this could actually be about far more than loneliness/esteem/straight's vs gay's options in finding companions but more into the territory of sex addiction. It's actually kind of too bad they killed Grundy at season's start because how awesome would it have been if we got a scene of Kevin going out "night jogging", having a car pull up, and his propositioner being a surprise return of Grundy? Speaking of directions i'd love to see the show go in that i know they totally won't, i so wish they would have incorporated some of book-Archie's clumsiness into the show as i'm so dying to see a scene of Archie trying to endear himself to Mr. Lodge while accidentally knocking over a piece of china or smashing cake in his face or something. And then later having such a running gag pay off in one of his accidents resulting in uncovering a piece of evidence or something not meant to be seen by the kids. Plus, his whole trying to seem menacing to the Black Hood could have some great scene enders of striking an imposing pose and then tripping over his bat - that video would have been priceless if it ended with Archie knocking the tripod over as he got up in its lens at the end.
  22. Insight? Dena Higley was headwriter then. Character assassination's her game!
  23. Very strong premiere. Def seems like the break helped them to assess what was/wasn't working and they've ironed out a lot of the kinks (esp in terms of KJ/Archie). The only thing that was a huge misfire for me though was the Barchie shower scene. I just don't think making out in the shower would be anywhere on my mind after an attempted murder on my father. I know Twin Peaks was a major source of inspiration for the show since early development and i wonder if any of the newer episodes might factor in - during Fred's coma dream of the dead relatives knocking on the door, i was heavily reminded of "The Mother" knocking at the door in the mauve world from nuPeaks episode 3.
