  1. @biakbiak huh. maybe not a few days, but I could swear both season 1 finale and season 2 premiere show the same one scene differently. Guess I need to rewatch!
  2. I'm confused: I just watched the season 1 finale, and in the scene where Liz and Phil discuss him going to the Olympics (she's in white dress and full regalia), he's super-surly about being sent away and leaves coldly without her really getting to say goodbye. In this ep, the scene is reshot to show he's making the best of going and he's all jokey and loving; she's the one who grows cold when she finds the ballerina photo. They're depicted as far more loving until that point than they were in the season 1 finale depicting the same few days. Retcon to set up the cheating storyline?
  3. My fave credit was after Best Boy: Worst Boy - Josh Chan
  4. I kept thinking Hiram was going to bust Archie for accepting the rum ("Would you like some rum? How dare you drink underage--do you drink and drive with my daughter in the car???"). The dad testing his daughter's boyfriend is such an old TV trope. Glad they avoided it. Still trying to figure creepy Hiram out...
  5. People gain weight over time. It happens. Sheesh. I love what Krumholtz is doing with the role.
  6. Meanwhile I still want someone to namecheck Donna but I'm not sure it's going to happen at some point, even with so many other Haywards in the picture. :(
  7. I thought he was blind and was trying to remember if he was (visions aside)! That scene was so weird. Sophie definitely gave it her all, though.
  8. I actually liked this more and more the more it went on. It probably doesn't hurt that I'm a year older than the characters and literally just watched the same IVF video (and the filming for Marianne's apartment exterior was done in my neighborhood, not that they showed much Brooklyn porn). The biggest standout to me was Fred Savage. Anything he touched was gold, from the all-nighter to Mmmbop. My biggest problem was the one some of you have raised: If Ethan and Sam are in love, why did he marry Lisa? Perhaps Sam wasn't willing to commit back then? She refers a lot to having made bad choices. I bet we'd find out in a season 2, but the reviews might not be good enough to warrant one.
  9. I never really liked the Winston actor before, but I really liked him in this season (which went way too fast!). Maybe it was just the writing, which had him being so supportive of the gals in his life, like Goldi and Zoe, but he really appealed to me here. CRAIG!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Diana seems WAY older than that (speaking as a 41-year-old magazine editor in NYC)!
  11. I was going to say that a meme is like irony--hard to define but you know it when you see it. Porn, irony, potato, potahto! Do we know how old Diana is supposed to be? She and Charles read older to me than (real, not-millennial) Liza, like closer to 50, which may explain why they seem even more clueless than she? (Though you're right--if you're in publishing you should be on top of this stuff. But that's why you hire millennials.) Side note: I really appreciate how the show treats Kelsey as capable and smart and not a stereotypical entitled twentysomething (normal drunken foibles notwithstanding). Even Diana treats her like an equal.
  12. Liquid Plumr commercial with people's actual plumber butts--i.e. ass cracks--showing on national TV. I can't believe they're allowed to show that!
  13. Apparently it finished, albeit with a kind of abrupt ending: http://www.cosmopolitan.com/entertainment/tv/a9207379/so-cosmo-season-one-finale-recap/ I know several people who work/ed at Cosmo, and many of the real editors, who actually assign and edit the stories, can be seen on the fringes of the editorial meetings in the show. And they are quite photogenic! But I guess too busy to be doing the real work to star in a reality show full-time.
  14. I'm a Peaks fan and don't care for this season either. I think the comparisons are a stretch, Ray Wise cameo notwithstanding.
  15. How did Rita know the letters were behind the tub?
  16. Thanks--I think I must have confused her with Jane Adams, who plays Constance.
  17. I noticed that Jane Levy (whom I loved from Suburgatory) was named as two characters in the end credits (which reveal SO much on this show!). I know she was the friend who stood up for the girl who asked for a light at the Bang Bang Club--who else was she? Yep--that's one of my favorite songs and I literally wore Audrey-esque saddle shoes yesterday. Lynch often disturbs me or makes me go WTF, but at this point I don't know whether I love him because he just gets my aesthetic, or whether his aesthetic is where I got mine.
  18. This new season has waaayyyyy ODed on the backward talking stuff! A little goes a long way!
  19. Unrelated: Happy for Molly that she is engaged. Wonder if they'll follow it on the show--even though the wedding will be on the farm, the show really underplayed the announcement, which makes me think we might not get another Big Roloff Wedding episode. ETA: Blahaha, based on comments here I went to Jer's Insta and Auj is pregnant with a girl! He must be SO disappointed.
  20. Guess I'm the only Asian here--it's normal in Asian cultures to take shoes off at the door. Keeps the floors cleaner. Plus I live in NYC and am walking all day, on sidewalks and roads where feces (human and animal), garbage, etc. has definitely touched down. No way I'm walking on that all day and then walking those shoes around my clean house. (I don't ask guests to take theirs off.) Unrelated: Interview with Carole today that touches on the show a bit: http://nymag.com/strategist/article/7-products-carole-radziwill-loves.html?mid=facebook_vulture
  21. @Winston9-DT3 true, though their response was for the most part positive.
  22. Great article on what real therapists think about the therapy scenes on the show (spoiler: They applaud them): http://nymag.com/scienceofus/2017/03/real-life-therapists-love-the-big-little-lies-therapist.html?mid=twitter_vulture
  23. I totally thought Perry was going to show up at Jane's looking for Celeste and the stress was killing me. And I think Ed definitely knows about the affair. It comes up when he's talking to Madeline about their lack of passionate sex--she starts to bring it up, he says he doesn't want to hear another word, and she kisses his hand in contrition. I thought that scene was so well-acted.
  24. I noticed Josie was in all the promo material too--she's one of the core characters they included in a promo photo shoot. My cynical theory is that they wanted some diversity in the ads (although in that case, why not Reggie too?).
