  1. Reading that exceptional feature from The Ringer made me sick. Richards has evidently lived a career's worth of smarmy. While it's possible that other candidates may have a skeleton in their closets, this guy has a family of them hanging in his. One that truly disgusted me was that in 2020 he took a PPP loan of $128K for a side-hustle consulting firm he'd established. Needless to say, I'm absolutely delighted that he has "stepped down." I'm not thrilled that we'll be going through yet another round of guest hosts. I hope that this time Sony will truly be auditioning only those who meet all the criteria they require of a permanent host. Transparency is your friend Sony, especially after the BS process your loyal audience has been put through over these many months. Going back to the Ringer piece: It sure seems as if near the end of his life, Alex seemed to be handing the keys over to Ken Jennings, regardless of any other potential hosts he may have mentioned earlier. That does mean something in my opinion. I thought Ken did a very good job; my only issue is the timbre of his voice, which I'm sure I could get used to. I highly doubt that there would be many Jeopardy! fans who would boycott a Ken Jennings hosted version of our favorite show. Now, despite what I just said, "Buzzy, Buzzy, Buzzy!"
  2. Interesting rumor and/or innuendo. Agents of SHIELD Star Has Secret Invasion Fans Excited for Jemma's Return in New Post
  3. Netflix recently released an enjoyable and informative behind-the-scenes featurette. (28:32) The Cost of Genius: Inside The Queen's Gambit
  4. I thought the same when they said that in the video. My reaction was, "Who, Charles and Camilla?" 😄
  5. Netflix released a featurette a couple of days ago on Season 4, interviews with cast and crew, info on costume design, set decoration, historical research, etc. The video clocks in at 28:28.
  6. Friday's, "No Egrets" category sent me off to listen to the beautiful 1976 song, "No Regrets" by the late, great Phoebe Snow, which I had not heard for decades. Anyone else?
  7. Regarding Nicolle's response to the $400 clue in The Late, Great Chadwick Boseman category: (Fair warning, in addition to being a Jeopardy! nerd, I am an unabashed Marvel nerd. 😃) She very clearly answered, "Who is T'Halla?" The correct response is T'Challa. Her response should have been deemed incorrect. Unlike Yiddish (I'm thinking Challah bread with the guttural H here,) the C is not silent in Wakandan!
  8. This is from TMZ. I'd give it more validity were it from THR or Variety, but according to their "Sony sources", Mayim Bialik was their first choice for the full-time Jeopardy! host. They couldn't make the scheduling work with Mayim's other projects and this hybrid hosting was the alternative. https://www.tmz.com/2021/08/13/mayim-bialik-top-choice-jeopardy-host-sony-execs-other-commitments/
  9. Not only did I not realize that, I've NEVER even looked at the extras on any of the MCU films. You've given me something new to check out when I'm bored! 🙂
  10. In addition to the sexual harassment and age discrimination suits in his background 😠, I think people have forgotten over the months since we saw him host, that Mike Richards has a noticeable lisp. Call me shallow, but often here, people criticize contestants for a vocal fry, or Ken Jennings because his vocal timbre tends to be reedy. I found Richards' lisp to be annoying and that was only during a two-week appearance. If I continue to watch--and yes, it's an if for me right now--I think his lisp is going to drive me crazy.
  11. Branch universe. 🤣 No, I hear you and agree.
  12. I didn't get the feeling that the Peggy Carter we're seeing in What If? is any less aware of her own worth than the live-action Peggy we've seen in the films or in Agent Carter is. Animated Peggy told Erskine she was just fine on the floor where she was (with the men) and that was before she stepped up and took the SSS. If you're talking about the scene in which she first uses her superpowers against the Nazis, I don't think she valued herself any more just because of them, it was that flat-out excitement at learning the extent of her new physical abilities. That's just my opinion, of course. As for the Agent Carter series no longer being considered MCU canon, I still believe the main reason is because in the series, we saw Peggy destroy the vial of what we had been told was the last of Steve Rogers' blood. That is likely problematic in a universe where we now know that Isaiah Bradley exists. (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.) Of course, if the other ABC productions (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Inhumans) were already considered non-canon, I don't see any way that Feige could say that while those shows were non-canon, Agent Carter somehow was. 😢 Also, @norcalgal, What If? isn't a Captain Carter series per se. The first episode of the series, "What If...Captain Carter Was the First Avenger" obviously centers its story on Peggy Carter, but future episodes will feature other characters from the MCU. Although Hayley Atwell's Captain Carter character is already confirmed to appear in some other episodes, you could probably watch the first episode as a stand-alone if you already subscribe to Disney+. However, (Spoiler rumored for the MCU in general)
  13. And almost pulled off his left arm. 😅 Thankfully, instead of Steve becoming the Winter Soldier, my new head canon is that Steve went on to found S.H.I.E.L.D. with Howard and, instead of having an Aunt Peggy, Tony has an Uncle Steve. 🙂
  14. Yes, it was the Marvel One Shot. I was kind of spoiled that Flynn would be back in What If? when I saw Bradley Whitford's name in the final cast listing before the show aired. For anyone who hasn't seen Marvel One Shot: Agent Carter, the full 15 minute version can be viewed here:
  15. Final trailer from Netflix. Looks amazing!
  16. He won't. This is Joe Buck. What you see is what you get. 😏
  17. I only know Joe Buck from baseball as I don't follow football at all, but what you've described here is exactly what drives everyone crazy about the way Buck calls a baseball game. He always seems to favor one of the teams over the other and it's never your favorite team. He has a unique ability to alienate fans of all teams. Everybody hates it when their favorite team draws a FOX Sports broadcast and you get stuck with Joe. 😄
  18. I don't know about that. I think there are enough sports fans who fall into the "I cannot stand Joe Buck" camp to keep the boat afloat. 😅 A couple of weeks back, I saw a tweet from a random tweeter that pretty much summed up my feelings to a tee. Spot on!
  19. I just watched the Legends: Peggy Carter episode. There was indeed footage from the Agent Carter One Shot, which I'd figured was being considered canon when I saw Bradley Whitford's name on the What If...? cast listing last week. A brief clip of BW's character appears in this Legends episode, speaking on the telephone to Dominic Cooper's Howard Stark. (Cooper's name also appears on the What If...? cast listing.) I guess if they're going to disavow Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. they have to disavow ALL of the ABC television series, but it truly feels like a slap in the face when it comes to Agent Carter, especially since James D'Arcy's Edwin Jarvis made the jump from the ABC series to Avengers: Endgame. Which begs the question: Are ALL the One Shots now canon? Does Ben Kingsley's Trevor Slattery show up in Shang Chi, for example?
  20. Yes. Although I didn't think much about it at the time of Richards' "Guest" hosting stint, yesterday in retrospect, I was thinking that the story surrounding it sounded fishy. This is a terrific article. I'm very glad you linked it here. Everyone interested should read it as it covers very different aspects of the story than others we've seen so far. The Ken Jennings podcast comments had me 😅.
  21. I posted this link in the S37 thread in response to another member's post, but it makes more sense here. The Daily Beast has posted an article on the sexual harassment lawsuits against Mike Richards. To this point, I had seen coverage only on entertainment oriented sites. The TDB coverage moves it to the political arena. Not a good look for the game show that has stood above all the rest for decades. I believe they'll have to re-think this decision. Jeopardy!’ Host Frontrunner Mike Richards’ Alleged History of Harassment, Discrimination Edited to add: @shapeshifter, in answer to your question just above, here's a sourced quote from this article:
  22. I wouldn't be so sure about that. The Daily Beast has picked up the story about the sexual harassment lawsuits. Until now, all the stories I'd seen had been from entertainment sites. TDB coverage takes it political. Not a good look for the class act of American game shows. Jeopardy!’ Host Frontrunner Mike Richards’ Alleged History of Harassment, Discrimination
  23. I find this incredibly disappointing. I worked in HR for many years and one of the things I hated most was having to interview candidates for a high-level "open" position that really wasn't, because the higher ups already had their man. (It always was a man, most often white. 🙄) It was a sham and a total waste of my time. That's how I feel reading this news. They've wasted our time these many months when long ago, they'd decided to just promote from within. Not cool.
