  1. From the snippets they've shown of the upcoming battle rounds, Christina looks very different and I don't think it's just hair and make-up. She definitely lost some weight which was to be expected post-baby but it looks to me as if she might have had some work done between the blinds and the battles. Looking quickly, I thought she was Kellie Pickler! Edited for a typo.
  2. Then CeeLo should have gone 50/50 on his choice and let America decide. But in answer to the original post, he threw the African American candidate under the bus. Edited to add: I'm not sure that it was his brain that CeeLo was thinking with at the time!
  3. I'll have to disagree with you here. In S2, Jamar Rogers was lined up to win the whole thing--the voting results sure seemed to be heading in that direction--until CeeLo shockingly threw him under the bus to advance Juliet Sims. That wasn't even a sneaky busing a la Adam consistently giving people poor songs to sing; this was back when the judges had to give a specific percentage of their vote to a contestant in the semi-finals! That awful move may well have changed the entire tenor of the show as Blake probably doesn't get the first of his three consecutive wins that season. Also, while not quite as glaring, CeeLo should never have pitted Amanda Brown against Trevin Hunte in the Battle Rounds. (I'm completely biased here. Amanda is my absolute favorite Voice contestant ever.) Thank goodness that the steal was in effect then as all three of the remaining coaches pushed their button for her. Then, moving to last season, Pharrell saved Sugar Joans over Elijuh Rene! That move can't be defended, made no sense at all! I'm not sure which coach I'd guide black contestants to choose. Off the top of my head, I'm not recalling any blatant mishandling on Usher's teams during his two Voice seasons. I thought he did a great job with all of his contestants and he was a quick study. He learned how to play the game well enough to win it all in his second attempt after coming in at #2 on his very first try. When are we going to get another Usher season anyway? I'd sign up for that!
  4. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. Christina coached Jacquie Lee all the way to the runner up slot and IMO India is much more talented than JL is. What JL had going for her was that unlike many contestants, she listened to what Christina told her to do. She was completely coachable. Whether India, who is already well trained musically will listen to and act on Christina's advice remains to be seen. While I'm not a big Aguilera fan, I do respect her talent and her years of experience in the business. I can't believe I'm saying this after living through her previous seasons of bitchiness and phoniness on The Voice, but I'd be pleased to see her join the winner's circle.
  5. Your suggestion is a good one and I'd take it a bit further. They should take this opportunity and put a person of color on the Fashion Police panel.
  6. I wasn't quite sure where to put this as it doesn't relate directly to Fashion Police but I thought FP's viewers would like to know about it. That striking white pearl Calvin Klein gown that Lupita Nyong'o wore to the Academy Awards on Sunday night has been reported stolen! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/02/26/lupita-nyongo-oscar-dress-stolen_n_6762894.html
  7. Yes, I was disappointed that they only commented on the men's apparel that they disliked. How about some of the guys who looked great? For one, I thought Benedict Cumberbatch looked fantastic in his white dinner jacket. Eddie Redmayne looked great in his blue tux also. What I'm seeing is that they seem to be concentrating more on comedy and less on fashion than they used to. I'm not crazy about that. I love to laugh at the outrageous get-ups but I also like to see the great praised. Edited for punctuation.
  8. I totally agree with you on this point. I feel like there were way too many dresses that weren't shown/mentioned. Just off the top of my head: Viola Davis looked wonderful I would like to have heard comments on her gown. Jessica Chastain, whom I usually love on the carpet, had a gown with a horrible neckline IMO. Naomi Watts, who is usually stunning, just missed. Other nominees who were not featured: Felicity Jones, Reese Witherspoon, Keira Knightly, Laura Dern. How about Anna Kendrick, Anna Faris, Sienna Miller? It just seems to me that FP used to feature more of the looks on the carpet. :( I'm the one upthread who said that I missed George and while that is still true, I do think that Brad was very good on tonight's FP. He was very informative on the fashion but also funny. The whole panel had me laughing out loud several times tonight; always a good thing! Also, I loved Kathy's dress.
  9. I'm so delighted that "The Imitation Game" won for adapted screenplay. It's probably the only award TIG will win tonight and that's a shame as it was brilliant.
  10. I'm astonished that this is Desplat's first Oscar. I thought sure he had won in the past.
  11. "Feast", the animated short that just won the Oscar was shown at theaters along with "Big Hero 6" And a Marvel connection. Heck, animated Stan Lee appeared in the coda!As to Patricia Arquette getting "political" in her acceptance speech: Oscar presentations in the 1960s and 1970s were full of award recipients making political statements.
  12. I'm disappointed that ABC has the exclusive for the final hour because I so enjoy Ryan Seacrest's E! Interviews with the celebs on the red carpet. He excels at it and the celebs seem so relaxed with him. I can't say the same for the ABC crew. Some of the interviews are cringe worthy. JMO.
  13. I just have to take exception to your last sentence because in his prime, Don Johnson was one of the best looking men on the planet!
  14. This is a possibility. Also posssible: The editors found the story they wanted to tell about Mei and milked it for all it was worth, editing her accordingly. We viewers see what they want us to see. Although I wanted Doug to win, I'm very pleased for Mei. She's a very worthy winner and it's great that there are now three femaleTop Chefs!
  15. Interview with Bridget Regan on playing Dottie. Good read. http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=59198
  16. Giuliana named Taylor Swift as her Best Dressed, not KK.
  17. This is the worst Grammy Awards show I've ever seen. I honestly don't know why I'm still watching. The show's saving grace was the Hozier/Annie Lennox performance. Other than that--total snoozefest.
  18. Two different clips from Tuesday's upcoming episode, "A Sin to Err" http://abc.go.com/shows/marvels-agent-carter/news/sneak-peeks-and-spoilers/02102015-sneak-peek-106-a-sin-to-err http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/markcassidycbm/news/?a=114912
  19. Another new clip from "The Iron Ceiling." http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/KingPatel/news/?a=114685
  20. An actual clip (1:35) from Tuesday's upcoming episode "The Iron Ceiling", not a promo trailer. http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/markcassidycbm/news/?a=114602
  21. Believe me, I'm far from the biggest fan of Tom Colicchio, but I think this is an unfair assessment. We're presently in S12 of Top Chef and 2 of the final 3 chefs still standing are non-white and one of those is female. In the 11 prior TC seasons we have seen four victories by persons of color (Hung, Kevin, Paul, Kristen) and an additional win by a white female (Stephanie) meaning that 45% of the TC winners to date have not been white guys.
  22. I've actually been enjoying the bulk of the Auditions' episodes this season but last night's was just about unwatchable. The one thing I really loved was when they went out to get the family of the young man with the ukulele. The family saw his Golden Ticket and didn't even look at the judges. They were just genuinely thrilled for him. Heartwarming.
