  1. https://www.pbs.org/show/funny-woman @JudyObscure Episodes 2 and 3 are streaming at the aboove PBS website for free. I'd think that Ep. 2 will be removed when Ep. 4 airs on Sunday so act quickly. Ep. 1 IMO, was weak in relation to 2 & 3. I don't think you miss all that much without seeing the pilot. There's a recap of the important moments from Ep. 1 at the beginning of Ep. 2 and I'm spoiler tagging a brief description of Ep. 1 for you.
  2. CBS' Sunday Morning pays tribute to Charles Osgood.
  3. Tonight's was a very good episode. There were some very good head-to-head battles and a heartwarming ending with Steve and Stephanie sharing the night's $20,000 prize for the most territory. I had to laugh at the final battle of the night. You can't call yourself an expert on movie quotes and lose on a famous quote from The Godfather, one of the most quotable films of all time! Bye Felicia! 😄
  4. RE: Music categories. Is there some unwritten Academy rule that Diane Warren has to get a Best Original Song nomination nearly every year? I was hoping Lenny Kravitz would get a nomination for "Road to Freedom" from Rustin. Nice to see a posthumous nomination go to Robbie Robertson's score for Killers of the Flower Moon.
  5. Wow, we seem to have lost A LOT of posts in our thread here since the recent updates. 😢 Anyway, Mary McCormack and Josh Malina have made a couple of interesting posts on Twitter/X over the past few days. We'll have to see what they're up to on Wednesday.
  6. Final Season Trailer. Three episode premiere on February 21st.
  7. The show has really hit its stride now, IMO. I'm enjoying the friendship between Sophie and Diane. The scene in the department store where Barbara used to work was a delightful tour de force of Gemma's comedic talent. I was iffy on this show one episode in. Episode 2 was an improvement. Now, I can't wait for next week!
  8. In my opinion, from watching the show and from listening to what LeVar said, the reason for his shock at having a direct white ancestor was because, in his words, "it was so close." He actually knew and remembers his great-grandmother. To discover that she, herself was half-white was the shock. Had Dr. Gates informed him, hypothetically that his say, fourth great grandfather was a white man who owned the plantation that LeVar's enslaved ancestors lived and worked on, that probably wouldn't have been particularly shocking to him; but discovering that the "Granny" he knew as a child was fathered by a white man was certainly a shock. I thought this episode was great.
  9. I have a feeling I'm not the only viewer who has given up on trying to figure out the ridiculous layers of competitions the J! producers have set up to ultimately get us to the TOC. I really don't care any more. I'm just watching some sort of Jeopardy! game at this point, where I occasionally recognize one of the faces.
  10. Week 19: 1/5 (F) Thank goodness for Calder! At least I had a respectable, but still incorrect, response for Monday's Paul Robeson clue. I said "The Emperor Jones," a film in which Robeson did star and his character did kill a man. Why I didn't think of the more obvious choice of "Othello" is beyond me. 🤷‍♀️ Representing Thursday's FJ, how about some Vietnamese bahn mi? (I'm back with cilantro again. I'll keep it on the side as a garnish.)
  11. Old Hollywood-style perfection! I can imagine stars like Lana Turner or Rita Hayworth wearing that dress in the 1940's. KH's hair and makeup were spot-on, too. One of the best of the night, IMO.
  12. I don't think so (JMO, of course) because of the extraordinary quality of The Bear's Season 2, Episode 7, "Forks." The way tonight's Emmys were all about "Connor's Wedding," that will be "Forks" at the next Emmy Awards. BTW, I'd think that the Emmys will go back to their regular schedule with nominees named this June and the Emmys being awarded in September.
  13. So, acting Emmys for Succession have been won by Jeremy Strong (for an earlier season,) Kieran Culkin, Matthew Macfadyen and Sarah Snook. I think all of them are deserving, but as the series has now concluded, it seems sad that Brian Cox, the actor who played Logan Roy, one of the truly great characters in television history, never won an Emmy for the role. (Cox did win an Emmy many years ago.)
  14. Well, there's supposed to be an Ally McBeal reunion, so she's probably backstage.
  15. I was afraid the three Succession nominees in the category might have split the vote, but the direction for "Connor's Wedding" was something special Congrats to Mark Mylod.
  16. That was a fantastic episode! It definitely deserved that nomination.
  17. The right choice. "Connor's Wedding" was the best hour of television last year.
  18. Yes! Let's start what I hope will be a bunch of awards for Beef!
  19. I would love to see a Seth Meyers win in that category. A Closer Look is comedy gold and Seth is great with his guests.
  20. Hell yeah! Move his category all you want, John Oliver's still going to win! And of course, he'd push the envelope to make sure Mama A. would have to heckle him offstage. ❤️
  21. Am I the only person who absolutely cannot stand Jennifer Coolidge? I was glad Mama Anderson piped up to get her ass off the stage.
  22. Jenna Ortega's cocktail length dress was beautiful! 😍
  23. Third time's the charm for Sarah Snook, who finally got the dress right! Her Golden Globes look was a train wreck, last night's Critics Choice black dress was an improvement and her red gown tonight was lovely. She'll look great when she finally wins her Emmy tonight! I suspect I may be in the minority, but I ❤️ Ayo Edebiri's black leather gown.
  24. I realize that the Best Actress Oscar will be deservingly won by either Emma or Lily, but I do hope that Carey Mulligan will win an Oscar before she's Glenn Close's age. She's a wonderful actress and she gave a brilliant performance in Maestro.
  25. I think having Season 1 of The Bear labeled a comedy was fine, but Season 2 was almost like a completely different show and should have been recategorized. It's also a very odd situation that last week's Golden Globes and tonight's Critics Choice Awards are for Season 2, but tomorrow night's Emmys are for S1 of The Bear. Beef was a fantastic show. I'm glad it's having a big night.
