  1. There are a lot of strategies you can use to give away the 2nd EP, and I think Natalie and Meaghan used a good one: You are a strong team, you might be ahead of us at some point. IF you are ahead and IF there is a U-turn, promise you won't U-turn us. I like the brothers. I haven't seen them do anything overtly nasty to another team, just the occasional slight misdirection which for me falls under the category of RAAACE! It doesn't hurt that they bear a passing resemblance to Mark Wahlberg, who I think is one sexy looking guy. I have to agree that Rex doesn't seem to have retained any of the grace and balance he had as a professional ballet dancer. But I gotta say, if you told me one guy in this competition was named Rex, I would have picked him. Every time I see him in a TH with his name underneath I can't help but think "Damn, he just looks like a Rex." I'm so thrilled to find TARC on a legitimate source where I can watch from here in the US.
  2. "This dress should be euthanized." Gee, what a great constructive remark from a mentor and an educator. It looks like Tim's inner bitch has come out of the closet. I wasn't crazy about Sandhya's dress, but it was the only one that I could envision as a 'futuristic' design. All of the others, good or not, didn't look much more future than next spring's collection. I honestly expected more 'out there' kind of stuff.
  3. Not to mention the dominatrix boots with the 5 inch heels.
  4. Thanks. I knew I recognized him from something and I never watched Friends.
  5. Yeah, I can't describe it, either. I am seriously underwhelmed by the talent this season. Although I don't have a problem with the winner, I would have put one of the top 3 in the bottom and vice-versa. Sometimes I want to see exactly what the judges see up close as much as I want to taste some of the food on Top Chef.
  6. I thought Alan looked surprised, then happy. It was Celia who really surprised me with her 'I thought she went home an hour ago' in that nasty voice she does so well. It's The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel. At least per the CC. It must be a popular movie standby, I know I've heard it before as well but never knew the title. I've only just realized that the building they show the morning after is the hotel, so I guess all the sleeping couples we see stayed overnight. I can't figure out what the expression on Gillian's face when she wakes up next to Robbie is supposed to be: Is she surprised, happy, does she realize she's made a commitment and probably a huge mistake? And why of all things make that the final shot of the episode (and the season)? I love the cinematography on this show, the huge sweeping downs. The only TV show I can remember using the location so well is Breaking Bad. But it seems like this season every time we see a high shot of a car traveling across the downs there's a huge dark thunderstorm plastered across the sky. I don't know if they just filmed all those shots on the same day and dropped them into different episodes as needed or if it's supposed to represent how dark this season was. Absolutely lovely wedding. I loved the flowers at the banquet.
  7. I thought this was the best unconventional materials challenge they've ever had. There were a number of really good looks, and I even liked Angela's. The one team where I said out loud 'Oh, that's bad"? Was the winning team. Of course.
  8. Wow. Potential for a great challenge - no monsters or aliens! - brought down by boring concepts and really poor paint jobs. Dina, girl, what happened? You were so good last week! It's not very original, but I picture the tick-tock man looking something like the Mad Hatter: oversize top hat and pocket-watch. Hey, it's better than a rabbit/rat face. Didn't care much for the 'clear winner'. Maybe they really have reached the bottom of the barrel, talent-wise.
  9. For starters, check out the Tim Gunn thread here in the PR forum. It's a major topic of discussion.
  10. My favorite look was Fade's. Very surprised when it came out because it didn't seem to be his aesthetic, but I thought that was a fabulous dress. I don't even remember Amanda, but I hated her outfit. Because nothing says spring like black, gray and gray. However it seemed like the judges felt obligated to put her in the top 3 (anonymous runway show, my ass).
  11. I don't understand why Stahma killed all 3 of those women when it looked like only one was actively against her.
  12. No one stood out for me except Dina, whose work was far above the rest, and Scott, who sadly was Dead Would-be Make-up Artist Walking from the word go.
  13. AFAIK, the entire series has been written by one woman, Sally Wainwright.
  14. I don't think they've ever said why he would be attempting suicide, although Gillian has said he was a heavy drinker. But there must have been a legitimate reason to claim it was a suicide attempt if the police closed the investigation.
  15. It looks like they're going to start off with a stunt Top Chef pulled during it's Texas season: They're going to tell all the newly arrived contestants that they haven't really made the show yet, there's another 'audition' and one of them will be going home immediately. Didn't like it on TC, don't think I'm going to like it here.
  16. Count me in with those who assumed that a log-splitter involved some sort of axe or sharp blade. The pictures I pulled up with a casual search have me very confused. How would you go about committing suicide with one of those - and then not quite finish the job? Why would you think it's the right tool for the job? Is it possible that they have something more old-fashioned on the farm? It's making me think that Gillian may be responsible for Eddie's death and she was going to turn it into an accident, i.e., "Look, Eddie tripped and got his head jammed into the log splitter. While it was on." This is turning into a very dark season. Another thing that bothers me is Raff and his girlfriend's pregnancy. Gillian laid the whole thing on Alan as if he's the only man Raff could talk to, and he wasn't there when Raff needed him. But Raff also has his Uncle Robbie, with whom he was close enough to move in with for a short time. And although you can see he's very close to his grandfather, his uncle might be a better choice to go to with a problem like a pregnant girlfriend.
  17. From the very beginning until the President's final scene I kept wondering if the Chief of Staff was doping him with something to mimic Alzheimers. When he signed the President's name to Jack's rendition order it came so naturally that it was obvious that he'd been forging the President's signature for some time. Maybe it was just to cover up Heller's lapses, but at some point he became a stooge for the Russians, and who knows what else he did for them. I was expecting that either the helicopter would explode, or Belechek would shoot it down, and I'm very unhappy with TPTB's re-edit to have Jack flying off to be tortured by the Russians. It gives no closure. It doesn't help that one of my favorite mystery novels is Polar Star by Martin Cruz Smith wherein the hero has escaped from the KGB and in flashbacks you are told what they did to him. Not pleasant. I was glad to see the Prime Minister show up in the end. I guess once the immediate threat to London was over he decided to kick back for some tea and crumpets and a long nap.
  18. They're doing a variation of Roshomon wrt the events of Eddie's suicide, i.e., little bits and pieces from different people who are sometimes withholding information and some times actively lying. What I'm getting is not that Gillian finished off Eddie after his botched suicide attempt (and for some reason I have no problem with that), it's that Alan is afraid that there was no suicide attempt and Gillian out and out murdered Eddie. And it's not just Celia that knows now. John knows a certain amount, although we don't know what version of events Gillian told John, and we know how well he can keep his tongue.
  19. Well, this question I can answer. He also owns a small cottage somewhere that he rents out to a young couple. At one point last season Celia asked whether they could live there once they got married but Alan was reluctant to give his tenants notice. Asking them if they want to buy the house is one of the few suggestions Celia has made that I agree with. The 'bungalow' (really not what I would consider a bungalow, hence the quotes) they visited had a spectacular view but I thought it was very ugly. This was a pretty grim episode. While Celia shouldn't have told Robbie about Gillian's abortion, Gillian is just flying off the handle at everything Celia does. Celia apologized (very sincerely, I thought) and she can't do more than that. I was waiting for someone to suggest that Kate adopt baby Flossie, 2 problems solved in one fell swoop. Really concerned about who dies in the next episode.
  20. Season 2 DVDs are only available for pre-order in the U.S. Sorry for the double post, I was trying to add this to my earlier one and messed up.
  21. I have such a hard time paying attention to this show anymore, did they ever conclude that the obviously fake video was fake? The one with a guy in a squatch suit running in the woods while the kids in front were doing a s'mores video? I have to say that I prefer watching the 'enhanced' episodes because rather than random viewers' tweets they show comments from the team, and Ranae gives great snark. I swear I heard Cliff say in a recent episode 'It's a scientifically known fact...' ME: 'There are no scientifically known facts about squatches because it's not scientifically known if they exist!'
  22. Yes, when did the position of President's Daughter and Official Hostess become part of the chain of command? I have a real hard time with all the so-called admirals and generals advising the president and none of them appear over 40, if that. Heller and Boudreau are the only 2 guys with any gray hair in the room.
  23. Just an FYI, the above link will contain spoilers if you are watching the U.S. airing of the show on PBS.
  24. At the end of that scene the camera backs up and you can see their car, so they drove up. I like Gillian and her story as well, although I think sleeping with John was a poor choice. Is Paul coming back this season? I hated him at the beginning of S1 but by the end I found him rather endearing, being dragged in his cast from pillar to post by all and sundry.
  25. I think Gillian sleeping with John is a pretty big deal, and I can understand why everyone is shocked. Even if they'd never met before, they're practically family and they know it. Not only has Gillian gotten fairly close to Caroline, she's starting a relationship with Robbie. And IIRC, John didn't even come on to Gillian, she asked him to come to bed with her. I can't wait to see what Robbie does when he finds out.
