There is no implication that any of the characters love it so much that they have taken out a paid subscription to this newsletter that comes out whenever Pen has gossip to share, rather then weekly/monthly/etc. And I very much doubt that Pen has the time or ability to traipse around London drumming up enough advertisers to make her freesheet newsletter profitable. If anything it would be costing her a fortune.

100%. I don't know what the real Fagan's story was. But what we were shown here was a very clearly abusive man continuing a campaign of abuse against his ex wife. What's scariest to me is that I don't think the writers, producers, actors, etc actually know that that's what they were portraying.

I like Zosia Mamet generally, but I agree she's miscast here. This kind of tough, career lawyer working for dodgy people just isn't her.

Remember, they are ducks. They hatch from eggs. Della and the triplets never actually met until she returned from the moon, because she left before they hatched. If Pepper is Webby's mother, they probably never met before either. Pepper is definitely related to Webby and is a big sister or aunt if not her mother. Apart from having the same enthusiastic personalities, their eyes/eyelashes are animated in the exact same way.

Ireland wasn't a 'depressed' place, it was an abused colony undergoing repeated near genocides of it's native peoples, most especially in the 1840s. A country that struggled hard in it's early decades of independence until it reaped the benefits of joining what has become the world's most powerful trading bloc. Ireland isn't a static, mythic place. Ireland is a growing, evolving country like everywhere else in the world. Now, in 2020, it is one where families like the Conners live wealthier, more comfortable and more easily upwardly mobile lives with more leisure time, near constant access to free/highly subsidised higher education and earlier retirement than they do in the US. The unwillingness to recognise that the "old country" wasn't preserved in amber the day your great, great grandparents left it, is undoubtedly a pretty big part of why life for people like the Conners is how it is. And it's deeply insulting to the real people who live in those real, not mythic, countries.

I'm quoting the review on the main page here. What the hell kind of ignorant comment is this both within the show and the review? Ireland is a first world extremely wealthy European nation with one of the world's highest living standards (3rd, according to the most recent UN data). It's highly, highly socialised and as a constitutional republic with proportional representation at all forms of government one of the world's best democracies. (One of only 22 Full Democracies on the planet which the USA is not.) One of the very, very first things that the Irish government did at the start of the pandemic was to set up a generous pandemic unemployment payment and a variety of assistances to small businesses to cover losses due to lockdown and venue capacity limits. As well as make evictions from either owned or rented homes illegal. A household with 4 adults and 3 kids would have been had a state income equivalent of over US$1750 a week during lockdown and then various supports as businesses reopened. It's also a country where my experience of long Covid meant I needed numerous phone and in person doctor and hospital examinations, lung x-rays, EKGs, bloodtests and a variety of medications. And my only worries needed to be about my health, as all that care cost me less than the equivalent of US$10 of money that the government gave me in the first place. Darlene and Becky should be so lucky as to be immigrating to Ireland, (especially when university education for children of low income families costs nada) though they probably wouldn't actually get resident visas.

100%. The minute Beth-Ann told April about how she loved the piano but Rob told her she wasn't good enough it was obvious exactly what he is at. I wouldn't even be surprised if her attempts at spicing things up in the shower were actually fine but he preferred to act like it was all wrong rather than let her feel any sort of confidence or power. He probably didn't mean to hurt himself but he wasn't willing to let her take that kind of initiative.

Starlight converts electricity to light. If there is no electrical energy near her, her powers don't work. The test subject who blasted them shorted out the electricity in their immediate surrounds (and possibly any she stores internally) so she had no access to electrical energy to convert to light. Once she was in the vicinity of the car she stopped, she could use it's battery to power her up. I strongly suspect it's a demonstration of how her power works now, so that in one of the latter episodes of the season/big finale battle she will be up against Stormfront. Stormfront has been shown to have a similar power level to Homelander and thinks Starlight's light up power is "cute." But while Starlight on her own isn't a powerhouse like Stormfront, Stormfront's powers are a massive liability against a supe who channels electricity. If Stormfront attacks Starlight, Starlight will channel multiples of that power back at her.

I'm not sure if the show is going to get this deep into an issue like rape. But that would be a really, really common situation. There are so, so many cases where a man rapes a woman but is actually so utterly ignorant about what consent actually is that he doesn't realise what he has done. (I remember this being a storyline on Felicity in the 90s.) In many countries the law even frames rape by intent rather than consequence. So if the man didn't set out to be a rapist, it doesn't actually matter if the woman consented or not. The man just has to convince the jury he assumed he had consent and he can't be convicted. With Homelander being who he is, this would be especially true. He would assume he had Becca's consent, because why wouldn't he, everyone loves him and he can do whatever the hell he likes. While Becca in no way whatsoever consented to him.

See this is where the final reveal actually worked better for me. Identical twins, like Deb and Dana, and fraternal twins are completely different things. Fraternal twins run in families due to a hyper-ovulation gene. Identical twins are a seemingly random occurrence with no apparent inherited link. So while it's not impossible for a family to have both kinds of twins, it would be extremely rare. (Unless someone from a family with identical twins has fertility treatment, increasing the odds of having fraternal twins.) So the last reveal makes so much more sense than the family circumstances would have as they initially appeared.

11.22.63 was also adapted by Hulu as a mini series starring James Franco. I think 5 has said a few times that Diego's attempts to save Kennedy are very likely what causes the apocalypse. And they all worked out that with the exception of Vanya they are all involved in some way with Kennedy's visit/assassination. Vanya said that as a nanny on a farm she's the only one who isn't involved. (So obviously it's something she's doing that will bring about the end of the world.)

Surely Five saw Ben on the rooftop in the first episode of this season, though. He seemed to take note of each of the siblings battling the Russians and we got several seconds of Ben using his demon tentacle powers which I assumed was us watching from 5's pov.

The thing is though, in this episode she asked for maintenance of $25k a month for 10 years. $3m over a decade, then done. He awarded her $16k a month for as long as they both lived and she remained unmarried. That would be close to twice the amount if Dan was still alive. So while it seemed like she got shafted, she didn't really. (At least in the tv show, I don't know how that matches real life.) I think the bigger issue was that Dan could keep on appealing it, and appealing it. If she'd just been awarded a big lump sum and very minimal maintenance it would have been to both of their benefits. The thing I really, really don't understand is why Dan wanted to shaft her out of the family home. Why convince her to move and then take the family home out from under her and then sell it anyway?

Yeah in a very early episode the Simpsons go for sushi and Homer eats a possibly poisonous fish and told he may only have 24 hours to live. The rest of the episode is him living his bucket list.

This feels very unfair to Rose Byrne but my biggest issue with her isn't her wig. It's her accent. Under other circumstances it would be absolutely fine but it's a bit of a problem for me because when she talks, an awful lot of the time, I'm hearing Serena Waterford. I wonder if she has the same dialect coach as Yvonne Strahovski or if it's just something similar in the speech patterns of an Australian woman doing an American accent. Whatever it is, it's a bit jarring because she's literally playing a woman on the opposite side of the debate as the real life Serena Joy.

I don't think there is any way Buffy told Xander that she was allied with Spike. He would have gone crazy and as well as that, Buffy has around here, started to keep things from her friends. I don't remember her being as secretive before Becoming. However, I think that just doesn't work so well once you have Joyce in the mix. She will know nearly everything by the time season 3 starts. There is no way that between Anne and DMP, she hasn't made huge headway into breaking down the walls Buffy has put up. Having her mother in the know and supporting her should have had a huge positive influence on Buffy.

Joyce would have remembered that though because when Buffy objected to letting Dru go free as she'd killed Kendra, Joyce leapt on it as proof that Buffy hadn't killed her and wanted to call the cops. While she mightn't have remembered names or a lot of details, Giles would have managed to work out what happened. He would have been shocked to learn Spike was with Buffy and wanted to to know why. When Joyce told him he wanted to be able to leave with the person/vampire who killed the girl Buffy was accused of killing, Giles would have figured out that it was Druscilla. And it would have made sense to him that Spike hated Angelus' influence over Dru enough to want to betray him to the slayer.

My very least favourite storytelling device is drama driven by characters not talking to each other. When a whole load of angst happens because people who would normally talk to each other don't, I just hate it. Presumably over the summer Giles would have filled in Joyce on everything from S1&2 that she needed to know. Maybe not the events of Prophecy Girl as that as that would be too much at that point. But about everything with Angel, what Buffy has been going through since he turned including her guilt at not having killed him before he killed Jenny. That when Buffy said she needed to go save the world, again, she was being literal. Joyce would also have filled Giles in on everything that happened with Spike and between them Giles would come to understand the deal Buffy made to let Dru go and explained to Joyce how much that would have hurt her too. He and Joyce would have speculated on what happened and Joyce would have learned that Willow was trying to re-ensoul Angel. So when Buffy showed up at the end of Anne, Joyce and Buffy would surely have sat down and Joyce would have let Buffy in on just how much she has come to understand. Then gotten Buffy to tell her exactly what happened after she left the house that night. Buffy, might have been reluctant initially but she would eventually have explained it all to Joyce. They would have reconciled much better at that point and Joyce would have called Giles, had him come over and either had Buffy explain to him what happened or explained it to him herself. Then either Buffy or Giles would have told the rest of the Scoobies. They would have sympathised, while also letting her know just how much it had hurt them that she hadn't gotten in touch. Xander's 'kick his ass,' comment would have come up and moved on from. Then over the next few days Willow would have told her how much she missed her friend while she went through her big changes over the summer but it wouldn't have been a recriminatory thing, just a truth that would help Buffy realise that even though she was hurting, her actions hurt the people who love her. And when Angel fell out of hell, Buffy would have been less inclined to hide him.

It wouldn't though. Buffy would have made that sacrifice regardless of Dawn being her sister. She wouldn't have ended the life of an innocent if she could have sacrificed herself instead. But Dawn needed to be her sister, with the same blood, for her sacrifice to work. In my imaginary Buffy remembers the real timeline story, I wouldn't have had her quite so depressed t being back and would have the different memories to everyone else storyline be the driver. It would also have meant that if Spike and Buffy were to have any sort of relationship it would have to have been more imaginative than destructive hate sex. As Spike's protectiveness of Dawn was his original "in" with Buffy.

What might have worked as a storyline would have been for a resurrected Buffy to have been resurrected with her own memories rather than her monk altered memories. So she would have remembered S1-4 as we do and she'd have memories of all of the things that happened with Dawn in S5. But her memories of S5 would have a completely different emotional resonance because she has no fake memories of Dawn. Through S6 she would not have any love for Dawn and would in fact be completely weirded out that she went catatonic at Dawn's capture and then lovingly sacrificed herself. She would be angry that the monks messed with them so. Buffy was willing to sacrifice herself for the world on Prophecy Girl. She would have done whatever it took to stop Glory from getting the Key. She didn't need her reality to be messed with to do her job. And now she's left motherless, possibly because of what the monks did to Joyce's brain, while being expected to mother a young girl she has no feeling for. It would have created a distance between Buffy and the Scoobies both because they want her to love Dawn as they remember her doing. And because they have different memories of the events of their friendship. We could have explored what those different memories would be and knowing that there are differences between their memories and actual events could be part of what drives the wedges in the T/W and X/A relationships as they question where they are vs where they maybe should be. Part of the Dark Willow story could have had Willow wipe the fake memories of Dawn from everyone because if she can't bring Tara back, she can at least have her real memories of her time with her back. And it could be here that Buffy comes to realise that she has developed a genuine love for Dawn throughout the season. And Dawn coming to terms with the loss of the fake memories could have been a driving part of her character development in S7. First in school and later when the house is full of potentials.

Just reading this forum to take my mind off real life! But when I was first watching series 7/4 with the Scoobies realising they were under threat from the ultimate evil and the AI team under threat from a seemingly ultimate evil. I assumed for quite a lot of both series that they were up against connected evils. That the thing controlling The Beast was in fact The First. That whatever was controlling Cordelia or impersonating Cordelia was an agent of The First. The arcs on each series involved facing off against a threat the likes of which they hadn't faced before, that was so personally targeting the protagonists. They were very similar to each other in a way that was unlike any previous arc on either show. There was more than enough interconnection between the shows for that to have been the case, with a plot from Buffy being how we are reintroduced to Faith on Angel. Then Willow nipping across to call on the spirits of the interegnum. And ended with Angel getting a macguffin necklace from WR&H, because obviously the Senior partners weren't in the mood for The First to beat them to the apocalypse punch, which magically saved the day over on Buffy. So there was no practical reason for these two storylines not to have been truly connected on a meaningful level. I was so gutted when we got a completely unconnected Jasmine instead. (I also hated Caleb on Buffy, enough that I didn't want to watch Firefly for a very long time knowing it was the series starring those two show ruiners.) Both series had started so, so strongly and ended up being so crazy disappointing. Buffy wasn't as bad. And I don't hate the ending plotline of Buffy empowered all the potentials. But I hate how poorly it was executed. I hate how the Turok Han were so easy to kill for no reason. I hate how The First would have won anyway without Spike wearing the MacGuffin necklace that Angel was handed as an incentive to randomly take over WR&H. Events on Angel being meaningful to the defeat of the First could have been an excellent satisfying story but instead it was just stupid.

It would be really cool if they could get Santino to guest star for an episode as Max's brother/friend/high school rival. I liked this episode a lot. Jane Levy has a really good signing voice and she did a really great job switching between her music video signing and dancing and her real life signing and dancing. That was especially well done in I Saw Mommy..... She was so reluctantly singing and trying not to, then she left the room and you could hear it burst out of her as she ran around to come back in the other office door. (Why does everyone's office have two doors?) I really like Crazy too, I think it totally captured how she was feeling coming out of that doctor's appointment where she was hoping to that it would be about her dad removing his back brace and instead she was being essentially told to say goodbye.

What the hell Mitch's new healthcare worker? Putting spinach in a chocolate milkshake is just disgusting and won't blend properly. Maybe make the shake with frozen banana, dates and cacao powder if you want to make it healthy. Don't randomly add spinach to ice-cream. Bleaugh!
