  1. I'm this far in the series and think it's odd but watchable. One question does come up: Is Sherry Yard able to chew with her mouth closed? Worse, someone in production evidently hates her because she is shown talking with mouths full of food, chewing like a cow, and there are times when we can hear her chomping and smacking. Gross. This is hopefully the last time I run across this heffa.
  2. Wait. What? Really? Good Omens was my favorite romantic story the year it came out. More couply stuff in GO2 and 3? Yes, please!
  3. They most likely were. Olduvai Gorge | archaeological site, Tanzania | Britannica
  4. Seconding your guess. The straw(?) palm(?) hat was the tell. Aldean usually wears a straw hat or a trucker's cap and he's from Macon, Georgia.
  5. Dr. Oluyesi's autoiography, A Quantum Life, is a great read. I have a tremendous amount of respect for him after learning his backstory. Joanne seems like she'd be a better judge for higher level baking pros. Andrew and Justin are fun to watch. I read somewhere that Andrew is involved with the skeptic community. For the most part, I loved the camaraderie between the contestants and how the teams eventually went from keeping to their lanes to contributing to all aspects of their projects. About Steve and Renee. He just seems very introverted and low key. He probably is one of those people with a quiet, wicked wit that may or may not land with some people. Poor Renee. Not everyone is cut out for television and timed competition shows can be brutal. If she works for the education arm of JPL, they may be pushing her to be a spokes-personality-critter. The way she talked during their exit, I got the impression she and Steve came to like each other, but she was very ready to get back to the lab. There was only one person I did not enjoy: Brandi. She was loud, obnoxious, and I'm sorry, but every person from Kentucky watching had to cringe at her bawling belle speech. She reminded me of every theatre/cheer/dance/karate mom who has to make everything about herself. What really got to me was her insistence on taking credit for anything that worked well. Whenever anyone complimented the actual engineering. she'd pipe up and bark out a "Thahnk yew!" before Manuka could respond. I noticed Dr. Oluyesi started addressing Manuka by name every time he talked about the mechanics of their projects. Toward the end, Manuka told a cute story about his uncle's jeep. Joanne asked him if that was how he got interested in engineering. Before he could answer, Brandi bellowed, "YES!" Oh, my goodness. Shut up, you jackass. You're embarrassing us. I was happy to see who won. Even though I thoroughly enjoyed both teams' designs, it was obvious the winning team's bridge was built better. However, the results of the final stress test came as no surprise with the team that came in second place. I think they could have stood on it themselves and it wouldn't have budged. Th winning team's weight test had me holding my beath. Both designs were so reflective of their styles. If both had passed all three tests, I wonder if it would have ended with a tie.
  6. Are you from Kentucky? I was so happy to see Kroger selling it south of the border!
  7. Thanks! Cn't believe I glossed over that teeny detail!
  8. Just finished that season. Catherine got worse as the series went on. It felt like she was encouraged to be a character instead of herself. Sad to say, I went from rooting for her to being relieved when she was eliminated.
  9. Did they stop filming at episode five? There hasn't been a new one on Hulu in weeks.
  10. Loved Newsradio and Kids in the Hall. Still, I didn't recognize Foley until he spoke.
  11. Remember this is someone who demanded Luke leave his wife or her. She's always been a cold bitch who wants what she wants.
  12. Maybe he did it to drive home that they were not friends.
  13. My first thought in that scene after Esther was such a bitch to Eyepatch was that she was scrambling for some way to ingratiate herself to June. I spent a chunk of my adulthood working with kids like her. (Yes, it happens more than you realise. Then again, I already live in Gilead.) They may very well have been assaulted. There is usually proof it happened What isn't always acknowledged is how the idea of the truth gets warped when these young people are gaslit, exploited, and removed into their own world of being identified as flesh to be bartered. It wouldn't surprise me if she wasn't entirely truthful. She's been on her own and had to fight down shame and degradation to survive.
  14. I am so loving this show! My three favorite episodes are: 3. Pippin 2. Godspell 1. Anything Goes Did anyone else cheer when Adam and Coy walked out to introduce themselves to the cast?
  15. I just watched the HSM episode. It was a relief to not see the therapy session this time. Maybe because the whole things seemed to be one protracted session. think this one made me the saddest. Betsey has no 'dar, bless her heart. Adam needed to calm down. Then there was Kayla... Did anyone else get ht vibe that the cast was mostly popular kids and Kayla was the outlier? The "you and Us" language that was used when her castmates talked to her about her role made it seem like she was not fully a part of the group. Betsey's reaction to Kayla's response to her question about dating pointed to that, too. I'm with whoever said they liked the show better when it was all about the play.
  16. I just finished the Godspell episode. It was amazing. The amount of talent on that stage and the exploration they engaged in to make it happen... I was impressed and moved.
  17. My all-time favorite response to the guesses came from Keenan Thompson: "You mean to tell me you didn't hear Gladys Knight? Really?" I want Robin Thicke to run out of damns to give and guess who he really thinks he's hearing and why. I'm fine with the schtick and Jenny M. makes a good foil for Ken Jeong, but it's nice to hear from the two who really know music.
  18. I liked the bounciness. It was the weepy neediness that turned me off. Maybe I've seen too many competition shows, but every time I see a contestant tear up on the regular or talk about how this has given them back something (!!!!!), whether it's a talent show or a bake-off, I get more cynical than I'd like to be. That steampunk fox was one of the best costumes yet. And I'm sharing the Brady love. I've been a fan since WLIIA.
  19. I like the judges. Ken Jeong is funny, Nichole S. and Robin Thicke bring the musical knowledge, Jenny...is Jenny. Wayne Brady's win was not what I expected, but I was happy to see it. He really did leave everyone else in the dust. I figured Flamingo's "SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! LOVE ME! LOVE ME LOVE ME! PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE LOVE ME!" shtick would get her the win. Her singing was above average, but her personality grated. She mentioned that she was told she wouldn't amount to anything at least twice during the finale. Was this a regular thing? I started tuning her out about halfway through the run. Maybe I'm a terrible person, but it seemed like she was trying to outcry Brady during the Q&A.
  20. The first episode is actually the best. They really, really need to drop the group therapy stuff, ie. "What would you tell your 16-year-old self?" By the Flint episode, I was thinking, "Oy with the tears already!" Having said that, the Flint cast was probably the least polished and yet they had the strongest sense of conviction when it came to their performances.
  21. What if TLC does an "All About Eve" with Natalie? She's younger, seems hungry, and would probably throw Whitney under the bus if TLC offered her the starring role in a MBFFL reboot.
  22. I've seen the first two episodes so far. Adam the musical director is fun to watch. I get the feeling he's somewhere between trying to curb his instinct to push for perfection and just letting the cast enjoy what they're doing. He's a treat to watch. The Texas cast seemed to have a lot more baggage. Maybe they were younger than the California Annie people? So far, it seems like everyone is glad to be there and happy to do the show. Having said that, a little bit of Brittany went a long way!
  23. I'm giving this show one more episode. I was cringing more than watching it as a nice distraction. Just not worth it to deal with cruel characters.
