  1. I'll accept that she can't afford curtains. And I'll accept that she likes the idea of being seen. But I have to think that if that girl was living in a curtain-free first-floor apartment with big windows, and was not afraid to walk around in a towel (or less), masturbate, and have sex... some entrepreneur would have built bleachers across the street and would be making a fortune selling tickets. Because there is no way that Creepy Joe is the first person to have noticed the show...
  2. Arboreal? No. CAN they climb? Yes. Unless you know enough about snakes that you don't need to see the head at all. Or better yet, know that head shape isn't going to help as much as some people think it is.
  3. I would be shocked if there was a Season 3, UNLESS a third season is somehow related to what was the second book of the trilogy. (In fact, that would be an excellent way of turning Mr. Mercedes into a series... though the title "Mr. Mercedes" will have no relevance whatsoever.)
  4. Still no. And to put an end to your argument: I'm from the South (born, raised and still live in Alabama) and I'm a herpetologist. (Herpetology is the study of reptiles and amphibians.) I spent years in the Snake removal business. And now I'm part of an online Snake-identification organization... and an awful lot of our time is spent refuting those ridiculous rhymes, and showing pictorial evidence of our explanations. In short, head shape is the WORST identifier one can use, in part -- but note solely -- because most snakes can and do change the shape of their heads to make themselves look more intimidating.
  5. Think "weird religious cult." Though with "cult," the word "weird" is probably superfluous.
  6. Correct that it was a non-venomous Snake (looked like a Black Racer, acted more like an Eastern Rat Snake) but that rhyme --like most snake-related rhymes --is NOT reliable. For the sake of their meal, I hope it was a rat snake; that would be much meatier than a racer.
  7. Lasik surgery?

    S01.E01: Pilot

I'll give it a shot. But I'm already getting vibes similar to those of a show called The Nine, also in the "something strange happened and we're going to tell the viewers what it was in very small doses doled out over dozens of episodes -- if we last that long" genre. For it to last as long as that one did (which was not long) it's going to need to fix a few things, namely: the main character can't be so unlikable unless that's the part of the storyline, and Michaela is, for now, simply unlikable... and I don't think she is supposed to come across that way. And as others have said... there is NO WAY that the passengers would have been released so soon (if ever.) They disappeared for five years then reappeared, having not aged a day. That is the very definition of BIG NEWS as well as BIG MYSTERY, and probably POTENTIAL PROBLEM. In real life, those people have returned only to spend the rest of their lives as lab rats... with about as much freedom.
  9. So zombies can go airborne in a breeze that barely blows the leaves? And this wind is 100 miles per hour, and yet the trees hardly move, and the rain falls straight down? Have these writers ever even seen wind?
  10. So THAT'S over. Like others, there was a lot to hate about Season 3, and I think much of it stems from the fact that the writers were expecting more seasons. I don't know what to think John told Nolan, but I kind of hope he didn't confess to killing Danny. I hope he shared a lot of good Danny stories, apologized for lying about the assault on Danny, and tried to explain why the estrangement between Danny started, and continued to grow. But mostly I hope he started to treat Nolan like a decent kid and nephew. Nolan had some issues, but except for Janey (and eventually Sally) his newfound family treated him way worse than was deserved. Hopefully that last scene was the first step towards John rectifying that. Ozzy: completely wasted storyline. The things they could have showed us this season, instead of showing him. But I do think that Father Lopez was one of HIS visions, and that those scenes of Sally confessing didn't really happen. Beth, Roy's past, Bungalow 3: Fodder for future seasons. I'd like to know exactly when in the writing/filming process the decision came down about Season 3 being the end. I have to think that some episodes were already in the can, because that could help explain some of the meaningless storylines we were subjected to He didn't hit Danny with a car. He beat the crap out of him, then the family lied and said that the injuries were the result of a hit-and-run.
  11. It was more than implied; there was a scene that showed him setting two gas cans on the stove, then lighting the burner under them.
  12. I think that just because that was the last time WE saw Meg doesn't mean that it was also the last time her family saw Meg. She has left the island, and her family doesn't know where she is now, but that doesn't mean that the last time anyone saw her she was cruising off into the sunset in a tiny sailboat.
  13. Positive. And one sure way to tell that they are faking it is to notice the water. It is impossible to paddle a canoe without disturbing the water; in fact, both the canoe and the paddle will disturb the water. No matter how carefully you move the paddle, or how smoothly the boat tracks, the water will show it... ESPECIALLY if the water is as smooth as glass, like that water was. They faked it. And I'm OK with them faking it, I just can't believe they faked it so poorly.
  14. I saw it as Daniel's daydream, but a very significant daydream for two reasons. One, he was actually thinking about the future -- a very pleasant future -- instead of looking back on his mostly horrific past. Daniel did not spend much (if any) time looking forward, so it was comforting to know that he can do that now. And two, he was daydreaming while listening to the tapes from his therapy sessions. If he can daydream while listening to those tapes, then they are losing the grip they had on him; another very good sign.
  15. That's what I got, too. Missed about a minute of show. (And unless the three of them spent that minute staring at each other, those of us who saw Frank Thomas instead missed SOMETHING.)
  16. Because this is a show (two shows, really, counting TWD) that goes to such extremes to accurately depict the undead, we have come to expect general excellence in the special effects. So it is amazing that the first place they blew it, that the one thing they couldn't accurately fake, was... paddling a canoe. When they first set up the river, John is paddling... BUT THE CANOE IS NOT MOVING. I never thought that scene would be the one in a show about zombies that reminds viewers "Oh yeah, this is all fake."
  17. It's picky and apropos of nothing important, but... I have never seen a relatively tame hairstyle alter someone's appeal more. I found "previous Paige" to be incredibly attractive, and "present Paige" to be... considerably less so. And I can't see any real difference between the two except the hair.
  18. Six episodes... :-)

    S08.E02: The Damned

So when I heard that there was going to be a TWD/FTWD crossover, I started trying to figure out who would do the crossing over, and my best bet was Morales (though I didn't remember his name.) He was the only person I could remember who had left the show alive. But now I'm thinking that it can't possibly be him, so I guess I'll just have to wait and see (or eventually find a spoiler somewhere.) BUT, having Morales on my mind made me recognize him more quickly when he appeared on screen; my wife was impressed...
  20. Right? Everybody just hides out in the pantry (or even in the buildings; it really doesn't matter as long as they aren't seen and stay quiet.) And a couple of brave souls lead the horde away from the ranch, and when it is far away they hightail it out of there, and double back home. Instead they opt for the second-worst plan ever, and when it ultimately fails, they're left with the worst plan ever (giving the horde plenty of time to get inside the compound, and then trying hand-to-hand combat.)
  21. Not much to add besides "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO." Pretty telling that a for a guy who is afraid of heights and yet participated in several height-related tasks, including a spectacularly scary bungee jump, the biggest obstacle Scott overcame was... Brooke.
  22. That was odd. Also odd: Michael, Linc and Whip are on the run from the military guys on the boat. They make their way into a room, and Whip secures the door with a large metal bar. And then Sucre somehow appears in the room. I have loved this show since Season One. But it's really just a live-action cartoon, and like other cartoons, it requires a monumental suspension of belief.
  23. The narration was, but the robot's "I can help" was so familiar, but from somewhere else... Edited to add... Upon reflection, I think it reminds me of Ralphy Wiggum...
  24. Too many commercials! Sorry, had to vent. WHERE do I know that robot voice from? It's so familiar...
  25. Fakest Line-up Ever. Was it just me, or did the camera seem to force us to notice the handshake between Sarah and the "officer/detective" who showed her the line-up? Was there something I was suppose to notice?
