  1. Right now Sophe's not turning a profit, and if they keep it non-profit, that makes the volunteer aspect not really exploitative. But motives to "help" are still likely to be less than noble.
  2. So after Ted Danson's pre-American Revolutionary War ancestor purchased the wife and children of his slave/property and then freed them all, did no one in his family ever again own slaves? I wonder if his ancestor purchased the first slave with the intent of freeing him and his family or if he became enlightened as to the human dignity of the man after he purchased him. I'm not a long time watcher of the show. When a white subject has "deep Southern roots" and a DNA test, but no mention is made of black relations, does that just mean they couldn't find any?
  3. https://www.thestar.com/entertainment/television/2017/04/04/the-tv-home-of-murdoch-mysteries-is-getting-a-new-detective-drama.html —so, feminist detectives in the 1920s (not about circumnavigation of the world) — could be cool.
  4. Oh, I see. So not something I can actually reproduce in real life? ;) "only on TV," or at least only with a camera. Your phone might have an option to slow down a selfie video. Now I'm picturing a slo-mo video of oranges spilling out of the brown paper bag with the random soul mate stopping to help and then in slo-mo with a hair flip (just bangs is acceptable) their eyes meet, and then the camera focuses on one hand covering the other's hand as they reach for the same orange—which really only happens on TV. —At which point I gag and turn off the TV. #nolongeraromantic
  5. Too bad that wasn't the closing argument for the defense. The script illustrates how much the outcome was a product of the times. But then the same could be said of the Salem Witch Trials and the Dreyfus Affair.
  6. Yes. A serious problem with the premise occurred to me while driving with the Google maps voice telling me to "turn right in 2 point 9 miles," which, if the Wisdom of the Crowd could be added, would also caution, "but do not turn right at 2 point eight nine miles." The problem is that a lot of pranksters would suggest turning right at 2.89 miles, as would the fast food vendor on the street of the premature turn. It seems there are many reasons related to self preservation, financial gain, revenge, etc. that could be disastrous when tainted info is uploaded and would at least undercut the value of Sophe. Hopefully this will be addressed in the next couple of episodes.
  7. There have been episodes of L&O SVU and similar shows that have shown dead children, but as far as I remember, it was not a child the viewers saw for more than one episode.
  8. I may be done. I don't mind hijinks, but I need consistency of characters' personalities/abilities. At this point no one should ever hire totally incompetent Scorpion to do anything, Walter should be teaching the gang about interpersonal relations, and Sly should be the group leader. Maybe I'd still like the show if they renamed it Musical Chairs on Crack, except I really hate the game of Musical Chairs because it focuses on the loser. Yeah. I know. That's kind of the premise of the show. Sorry. If the show gives some viewers a little happiness, I hope it gets renewed.
  9. Assuming it's still comedic in tone, he might just be doing it for fun. Maybe it's a pallet cleanser after The Following.
  10. I think that might have been Detective Batista, played by June Gable, but I'm not 100% positive. I guess we'll find out when they show her episodes again (3.8 & 3.12 according to IMDb). Linda Lavin had 6 episodes in season 2.
  11. Whew! I just checked Wallis Currie-Wood's (Stevie) IMDb page and found no other current projects, so we don't have to worry about Dimitri/Alex accidentally murdering her in a withdrawal induced rage should she decide to offer to use another shade of beige-white to paint his apartment. I sort of enjoyed the predictable, tied-up-in-pink-ribbons outcome of the warring factions being inspired to make peace by Bess's heroics to save the life of one girl who was run over by Bess's chauffeur, but then I've watched TV since the 60s. They didn't even bother to mention, that I can recall, that Bess would have to at least considered the optics of the child dying; the audience was supposed to believe that Bess was purely motivated by compassion, right? Dimitri's description of present day Russian torture was eye opening.
  12. And thanks for taking the time to pick out some key quotes and for your remarks, @Bastet. Appy is quoted as saying: Is that accurate? Do those words literally not occur in the entire series?
  13. Much more dynamic episode, but is it too little too late for ratings? Malcom Jamal Warner finally came out of the background. So Jane is arrested for obstruction and will likely lose custody if Lake comes back. Did these people learn nothing from the Nixon and Clinton impeachment proceedings? It's not so much about hiring burglars or having sex with "that woman" or buying cocaine from the pizza boy, it's all about the cover up. IDK. Maybe Jane's supposed to be too young to be familiar with the Nixon and Clinton investigations. Does Bird even care that Jane got inside info from a narcotics officer?
  14. It helps to have wavy or curly hair. Otherwise, if it's long enough, braid your hair into a single braid and then fold the braid back on itself and use the pencil or stick to thread the two braid layers together. I used to do that when I had long hair, but I have never seen it done on TV.
  15. Advanced communication capabilities have definitely made it easier for humans to grasp new word meanings, but I thought the creation of new words and/or meanings was increasing faster rather than slowing down, right? In addition to new devices (desktop --> laptop --> smartphone) there are even more things to do with them (save, delete, online, email, post, chat, tweet, like, ghost, etc.)
  16. As of this moment, your baguette purchase post has generated 18 mood improvements, as represented by likes/hearts. Well worth the purchase (and post)! This week my local grocery store advertiser indicated for the first time that they will have "multigrain" baguettes, which I was thinking of trying—and of course asking for a paper bag at the checkout. In Whimsyton, the oranges only spill when an attractive soul mate is nearby to help gather them up.
  17. I always thought this would happen (Roswell reboot): http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/roswell-reboot-works-at-cw-1047911
  18. Didn't Darlene also say that she thought the Dark Army killed Cisco and she thinks she's next? I guess Elliot didn't tell her he was shot because he didn't want to upset her, but then I can't imagine the words "I've been shot" coming out of his mouth at any time.
  19. This's question makes me wonder whether Edie Falco has strong feelings about how the brothers were tried by the media/public at the time and/or about how the actions of an unethical pyschotherapist lead to their conviction—including the therapist's failure to see they were having serious problems before the murder (assuming the abuse allegations were real). About the use of the term "reality TV," I must've missed that line, but couldn't it have been used as a descriptive turn of phrase that would not become a household word for at least another ten years? Maybe the phrase was injected on purpose or at least intentionally not edited out to tell us that the trial was no different than Reality TV with a capital R? Or are we sure it was just sloppy editing?
  20. I had missed the third episode and just caught it this evening. Like the guy in the interview, it made me so sad to realize that three years before he (and my boyfriend) went there, they knew it was unwinable and were advised to negotiate but chose to send more soldiers instead. I remember explaining the Domino Theory to my older sister's college boyfriend. He started to scoff at it, but then I showed him a picture of my boyfriend, and he just said, "I can see why you're attracted to him."
  21. Yes, the comments here convinced me to watch, but I'm not sure it was worth it.
  22. Aahgh! They believe Tyrelliot is a Tyrell-Elliot ship—not the two of them being different sides of Elliot. And evidentally this is a fully launched ship on Reddit. Sacrilege, I say!
