  1. As a TWoP alum, I have the same ingrained paranoia of mods, but I really would like to have at least one example of the malapropism. I've decided against posting if I can't recall the context, but I think it would be fine to post, "I can't recall the context, but I have been hearing word1 for word2. Can someone else give an example?"
  2. I see this show's writing on par with Breaking Bad, so 5 seasons seems doable. Or maybe 4—which is what you're saying anyway. Seriously? Got a screen grab? While I don't see literal time travel factoring into this show, I can picture Elliot wanting to so completely undo the hack that he travels back in time while in a fugue state.
  3. Yes. But this and the spending spree and all the other non-grieving activities that the brothers engaged in shortly after their parents' murder could be explained by psychological disorders (e.g. detachment of some sort) caused by sexual abuse. Even if they were just "cold blooded killers" or "bad seeds," these kinds of post-parenticide activities don't really make much sense. I mean, if the goal was to inherit the money and not get sent to prison, wouldn't the brothers make an effort to appear to be grieving?
  4. Thanks for looking that up, @vavera4ka. And yes, more stories by Pearlstein, please. And thanks to all who posted here, without which I would not have bothered to watched this episode.
  5. Was this never considered as a defense strategy by Leslie?
  6. I enjoy exploring the significance of the episode names. When I think of "Legacy" files, the backup server for my institution's website comes to mind, but the Wikipedia entry for "Legacy System" currently begins with: …but also notes: —all of which relates to the significance of the events in this flashback episode. I often find the file extension meanings even more descriptive; according to file.org, regarding the .so file extension: ^_ this can refer to Mr. Robot and Elliot sharing (at least) the knowledge of computer programming and hacking, but it can also refer to Tyrell and Elliot's interactions (I'm still not ready to abandon the Tyrelliot-Alters theory) as well as the sharing of purposes/hacking results between The Dark Army and the victims of the corporate carcinogenic substance polluting, etc.
  7. Hah! I find this statement particularly witty/amusing in the light of recent harassment scandals. I would like to know whether anyone involved with the creation of this episode gave any thought to the Neil Diamond/Neil Sedaka first name coincidence, especially regarding the fandom effect. I mean, did anyone even recall that the previous song the actors did together was by Neil Diamond? Was someone Googling Neil Diamond songs for the episode and Neil Sedaka songs came up too? Maybe someone will ask at a ComicCon.
  8. Russia and China share a long border. So the Reddit posters were right all along about Tyrelliot being a love thing? (Rather than Tyrelliot being another Elliot alter?)
  9. I'm okay with the lawyer and the way she wrangled the FLOTUS back from Crazy Pants Land. But Lyor? I get that they wanted a comic relief character—and I'm a great believer in comic relief—but not only is Lyor's role redundant to Seth's, but the POTUS is supposed to be a Man of the People at this point, who has the public and the media eating out of his hand. He doesn't need Lyor. Maybe they can get Lyor laid off on account of uselessness, and then discover he is a gourmet chef who can conjure up at a moment's notice local cuisine for any visiting politician or dignitary.
  10. Yeah, I was also thinking that a very pregnant woman would not be agile enough to overpower 2 adults and kidnap an unwilling middle schooler.
  11. This post is the perfect antidote for every negative vibe I encountered today. Can I please have 12 Nadine guest spots?
  12. At some point I read a speculation that it was starting either Sunday, January 7, or Thursday, January 11, but I don't recall the source (upthread??) and don't see any current mentions of those dates.
  13. I assume that the judge's dismissive attitude towards the child sex abuse defense was also supposed to be representative of the times—but does this show accentuate the judge's dated behavior, or does it mirror it pretty accurately? (I didn't see the original trial.)
  14. Not surprisingly, newbie Actor Glen gave away way too much, IMO, whereas H!ITG! Actor Dad was much more nuanced about it. And once again, Peter Scanavino/Carisi did more emoting with his body in a few seconds (watching the reveal of and then carrying the child-shaped blanket) than the rest of the cast did with all of their line deliveries.* Hah! Thank you for this! I can only guess they didn't realize that it wasn't even as good as the original until it was in the can. There ought to be a rule: No story retread unless it's an improvement on the original. Just because it is story-adjacent to the Benoah plot-of-the-week doesn't mean it can be hastily thrown together. *ETA: I'm blaimIng the "Don't touch me!" scene on direction.
  15. When the judge said, "Fruit of the poisonous tree?" I momentarily thought my wish had come true that this was a Battlestar Gallactica-level apocalypse show, and that the judge had formerly been a hairdresser, and that she was going to next explain,"I used to watch a lot of Law & Order."
  16. Bad word choice on my part. I was thinking how the murder was "fake news" because he was really dying of—was it cancer? I must have missed more than I thought.
  17. I dozed off towards the end. Did they not reveal who the fake killer was?
  18. But hasn't Leonard always been "the straight man"* when the script called for it? *comedy terminology, not a reference to gender orientation
  19. The bit in the cemetery with Leslie Abramson correcting the couple about sexual child abuse being worse than murder, followed by her father's support, was worth the price of the ticket, I guess.
  20. Thus the short Is have it. This was a much better pun when I heard it in my head.
  21. I'm not sure which was better: Ana Farris's patter or her perfect gold dress with the buttons.
  22. I seem to be hearing (and being annoyed by) this a lot lately. I hope it is the language's shortest lived fad.
  23. The character of Nadine will not be missed as much by the other characters on the show as she will be missed by the viewers. I hope TPTB at least went through the motions of offering Bebe Neuwirth more money to stay while at the same time respecting her decision. I will try to keep that thought.
  24. Sure, because she's the lead character, but also it's probably the only way he can keep an eye on her!
