Kim Richards: No Escape from Witch Mountain
NewDigs replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
I love a good trainwreck but I do not want to watch any more slow suicides. Kim makes me sad. As does Brandi. The BH franchise seems to have the most desperate participants. -
The mind. It reels. I will never understand the all or nothing approach. Especially medicine. And some of "these people" do end up in true crime books.

S06.E06: Showdown in Chi-Town
NewDigs replied to cooksdelight's topic in The Great Food Truck Race [V]
It doesn't really bother me that the trucks can be described so easily. Seems to speak to an easily understood point of view. And the wafflers just did not succeed in that think-out-of-the-box thing. I think their successes had come more easily because as scenicbyway said, people like dessert. I still remember a freshly made Belgian waffle topped with freshly sliced strawberries and smothered with a more than generous dollop of real whipped cream that I ate years ago at a place in Fort Lauderdale. That nothwithstanding, I still think I'd go Pho. Or Postcards. Or GD. Edit to add quote -
Kim Richards: No Escape from Witch Mountain

Nooooo!!!! Though the whole capri-pants thing skirts dangerously close to the gaucho. Neither look particularly attractive on anyone, imho. I remember loving my bow-blouse. I even had an odd little jewelry type device that allowed me to configure my bow in innumerable horrible styles. Please, keep the 80s where they belong, decades behind us. Which is where Kim seems to reside. -
S06.E06: Showdown in Chi-Town

Wafflers, a banana spring roll? Really? Ick. Pho played to the challenges, prevailed, and for that I am very happy. The Greektown tater tot thingy kind of made me go, Huh?, but the corn dog thingy they did in the beginning did too. Maybe these carny-type items are part of their repertoire? At least they were able to adapt to the competition. And I think that Jersey Guy 87 found the word I had been looking for re: wafflers, and that word is arrogant. They seemed to think that their business's successes could carry them through this competition. I was surprised to see the grace they displayed at the finish line. They had been pretty sour grapes this entire leg. -
19 Things I Hate About You: How the Duggars Infuriate
NewDigs replied to Ljohnson1987's topic in Counting On
Good grief. What's the cheapest gift card? Even if you're allowed one for a dollar... The guy's got a serious problem. And way too much time and money to support it. Watch out Js! You're next. -
Are any fundie families stupid enough to use her? I mean, other than the Duggars. Doulas and midwives have a difficult enough time gaining acceptance and now this idiot gets the attention.

S06.E05: Roadside Attractions
NewDigs replied to cooksdelight's topic in The Great Food Truck Race [V]
It used to be that a patron was not expected to tip owners, be it a restaurant or salon or whatever. But I think that (non) practice is fading. The owners are making profits that employees are not. And not being a food truck afficiando I have no idea about their tipping structure. What would I be tipping for? I pick up the food, I find a place to dine, I clean up after myself, what's left? Should I start tipping cooks in restaurants? Where does it end? And imho there should be no structure in place for anyone to just add on a tip and say, Is that okay? It should be stated somewhere if gratuity is added and the only time I have ever seen that is for larger parties on one check. -
Those are great thoughts but I think our little panel of objectors telegraph their opinions opposite to yours by using wrinkled noses, groans and rolling eyes. Makes feel old. And count me in as another "of a certain age" who now has a bit more disposable income. I have found that better clothes might cost more but they sure last longer. And usually require less care, ie ironing etc.

19 Things I Hate About You: How the Duggars Infuriate

Ahhh. Rewards cards. Now that makes more, monetary, sense. The article: In a confessional post on Kitchenette, Halsey recounts how this evil genius allegedly purchased 365 Starbucks gift cards and "registered every one of them online with a different birthday so that he gets a ‘free birthday drink' EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR." I guess the barista doesn't quite get how the plan works. Or he is trying to forestall other "evil geniuses". And I hesitate to use the word genius 'cuz this looks right up Duggar-alley. Put those Js to work! They can write. Kind of. -

I guess a show's not a wrap until Bethy has peed somewhere inappropriate. -

I don't know how I managed to miss the pregnancy back then. I do remember watching her pee on a stick during one of her solo shows. That's when I rethought my Bethy viewing habits. And loved the Kelley-jogs-NY segments on this 100th show. Either they were extended clips or time kind of stopped for her, potential, carwreck batshitcrazy on initial viewing. -

Whose baby was she pregnant with on Scary Island? -
I know this one!Justin Bieber! Eh, I guess they're both about the same mental age.

And though Dorinda did a pretty piss poor job of it, I think she was supposed to be pimping John's dry-cleaning business this season. Oops. Ramona really made her first million by the time she was 30? It's not that I don't believe her... It was fun to see a younger Avery this epi. What a cutie. I read somewhere that RHoNY was originally titled Manhattan Moms which would have been an awkward fit for Bethy. And her grasping. -

But, how much is a Starbucks gift card? How is this cost effective? Hardly seems worth the effort. Or I'm missing something, probably the most likely explanation. -
S07.E00: 100th Episode Special
NewDigs replied to zoeysmom's topic in The Real Housewives Of New York City
Granimal, I agree. And when they were showing the "original" Bethenny at work, and in her 1 bedroom apt. etc., I was reminded of why I used to like her.At some point she became, to me, less about hard work and more about grasping. I have to believe that the HW's shows really escalated her business successes but she continued to take some, imho, undeserved credit. -
"And did I mention that I love Josh, er, I mean, Priscilla?"If you have to keep reminding people about your lurve, maybe you're jes' tryin' to convince yourself. Just when I think I can't fall any further into Alice's rabbit hole... Meet the Wallers! And the Benhams! Watch the Duggars and Seewalds attempt to hijack the twitters! Pirates! And, agree with louannems, gotta love the Prissisms. Though I think comparing them to bumper sticker slogans is being too kind. You can't make this stuff up. Yeah, I noticed that slacker Priscilla only has two kids. Haven't they been married three years?

S07.E00: 100th Episode Special

Wow. I didn't think it possible to dislike Bethy much more than I already did but this episode delivered! Her arrogance is really astonishing. And some of the looks that Andy graces her with are embarrassing, like he's about ready to drool over his little money-maker. Gag. And then how she included herself almost as part of production with her, We've broken into the White House, we've..., we've... I had forgotten about that Skinnygirl logo w/her ass in the martini glass. Maybe that's what stirs the cocktails. Does she still use that? Don't know what Carol has had done or if it was just good makeup shading but I think she looked nice. Likewise Dorinda with her new short do and cleeeeaveage. -
Laurie bought that circle fabric at Mood where it sells for $100/yard. And how she thought those holes would work as a top I just don't get. To me, seeing a bare breast through a gauzy net type fabric or through real lace is one thing. But seeing a nipple through a hole in the fabric just looks like a very unfortunate nip-slip, imho. And the model's ass was out too? Epic fail. And I'm not fond of judges rewarding someone with "promise" over someone who actually delivered wearable apparel. Apparel that looked to me to have that same high/low hem thing they loved about Edmund's first design!
-
Let's not give Noelle too much credit. It appears that they were still living together at the time of his death. I say, gold digger to the end.
-
I liked Edmund's! Even the cloud, though I think it looked better when the model wore it more at her elbows and lower. Swapnil's just looked kind of tortured to me. Almost a trying-too-hard thing. Plaid and pink? Not today, thanks. And he did try! Candace? Nicely made but oh so predictable. Laurie should be gone. My jaw is still slightly dropped by that outcome. This week's guest judge was, to me, useless. That 17 year old the other week provided more articulate opinions.
