  1. @Toothbrush, how con-VEEEN-yent (TM Church Lady) you have FIVE Hubigs, a special treat for a Special Week. There are also five tables at the FJ Feast, one Hubig per table. Except no one is at the T44 so that means one extra Hubig for ... ?
  2. One of the best and most fun episodes of this show EVER. So many LOL moments. Although I did get a little verklempt when Ken said this was the second anniversary of Alex's passing.
  3. Oh, man, I love me some Whoopee Pies. Yeay! (Even though I'm not seated anywhere near your table ...) Scores are in for Week 8. Of the 30 contestants, seven got 1 * and three got both *. Congrats to those 10 Smarty Pants. Three scored 0, the popular T41 seated 13 players (waves HELLO to my friends!), six got a 2, seven got a 3, no one is sitting at the Table 4 4, and one very lonely person is at the table for 5. And that person HAS to be Winner of Week 8, the very talented and oh-so-TofC-smart @Toothbrush! It just doesn't get any better than that.
  4. And I went straight to Honduras, which made me realize that leaving FJ blank was better than writing that as my answer. But hey, it borders lots of water!
  5. I liked this episode, liked how Eileen let all the military guy's harsh shade just slide off her back. I don't watch that closely so I didn't even know who the guy was at Eileen's door, the one who kissed her. I never paid attention to who he was in previous episodes. I guess that's why I come here! I thought this was a much more interesting story than the Giant Cabbage of last week.
  6. Week 8 • Oct. 31, 2022 — TWO asterisk 31. Places in American History. A Native American story says this creek got its name from an injury suffered by a Sioux warrior in a fight with the Crow. * 32. Poets. Inspired by stories from his grandfather, his “Battle of Lovell’s Pond” appeared in the Portland Gazette in 1820 when he was 13. * 33. Phrases in American History. Andrew Johnson vetoed a bill that gave reparations to formerly enslaved people, hence this phrase for an unfulfilled promise. * 34. Novel Locales. This place from a 1933 novel lies in the Valley of Blue Moon, below a peak called Karakal. * 35. World Cities. The name of this city may come from “dur”, meaning water, a reference to the Helvetian people’s settlement on a lake.
  7. I love rowan and now follow them on Twitter. Today my happy euphoria over That Person losing Tuesday was struck down by my sadness over rowan losing today.
  8. It was in the movie Alien. I easily got the Cubs TS, but then, I listened to Pat and Ron announce all the Cubs games when they were contracted to WGN radio. I even got the TS of the Cubs' nemesis, the (hateful) Cardinals. I say "Bless your heart" all the time. And I mean ALL the time. Maybe spending every summer, from grade school through college, on a cow/calf farm in the Ouachita Mountains made that common speak for me. Anyone in the Chicago area looking for rowan, they will be at Hawthorne this weekend and not the Breeder's Cup at Keeneland, which I will be watching on tv. I'm a big racing fan and even owned an off-track Thoroughbred for a while. Riding her was like sitting astride a rocket ship with all burners going, unbelievably powerful animal.
  9. Because of posts here, all I kept seeing was Jenny's rocker t-shirt. I stared at it the whole time she was on screen, and got irritated when the camera moved in on her face and cropped the t out. I hope all of Sunny's customers paid in full and up front, no refunds. Donno stole this episode for me. I'd like to see a whole series of Donno and what's-her-face. Yeah, Darius and Lyle were an odd addition for hit men. Of all the people Reba knows, I wondered why those two. Not that there was anything wrong with that! I just saw Lyle on Dinner Drive With Kyle Petty and really enjoyed him so was pleased he appeared here. Dead body found in woods, so haul the body via a tv western, slung over the back of a horse. Buck (and Emily, child of a cop) need to watch more CSI dramas on how to approach -- and leave untouched -- a crime scene.
  10. Thanks TAAS. I will always save your weekly score space, don't worry! Sad to hear you are under the weather though, that stinks. But J is fun to watch from the couch, under a warm, snuggly quilt. So there's that plus to it! Plus being sick didn't affect your J brain power, so good on that, too!
  11. So did Lucy Ricardo when she and Ethel were stomping grapes. Maybe that's how @shapeshifter got the stylin' idea! It's a pretty rockin' look.
  12. While we've yet to hear from @theartandsound, @OperaLover1229 and @shapeshifter, here's the roundup for Week 6 of our contest. Of the 28 recorded scores, three got the asterisk. CONGRATS! Six scored a 1 (Saber takes a bow), seven scored 2, 10 scored a 3, four achieved 4 correct answers, and one stood out above the rest, the only player to have a PERFECT WEEK! That player is hereby awarded Winner of Week Six. Behold @Driad:
  13. I was delighted to look up the results of today's episode and see Andrew won. Made me very happy. Then I did an online search and found this. What a jerk.
  14. Always remember to Stay Clam. As a side note, the Samoyed that was pictured was Striker, GCHP CH Vanderbilt 'N Printemp's Lucky Strike, a dog shown by a long-time good friend of mine. I've known her since forever. I traveled with her in the past to help her with her dogs, and she with mine. Striker was suppose to retire after winning the working group at Westminster, but he's still being shown. He is the No. 1 working dog and No. 14 among all breeds of dogs for Best in Show wins. Some day he really will retire, and go home to Canada!
  15. I was stressing that I'll be gone tomorrow and maybe not home in time for ToC Tuesday. Then I saw who was on and it's He Who I Refuse To Name (or watch) after he sent my boyfriend home. So now I'm good with doing some relaxing errands after my appointments in town. The only time I've refused to watch was when he was on. A while back I came across a late-night rerun and thought, hey, I haven't seen this episode before! And then HE was shown ... and channel turned. Like Horton, I am 100-percent faithful.
  16. Youse guys is standard lingo for Chicago speakers. And I use "guys" as a generic term meaning all of youse guys I'm talking at, no gender specified. I always get a kick out of tv announcers who never use the opposite term. Like they call women "girls" but never say the men are "boys." Just something I've noticed over the decades.
  17. Sharing a table with you @secnarf ... I consider that a great week! Oh hey, @labresq is here too! Yeay! T41 is starting the weekend as THE place to be for fun! Check out my Halloween costume:
  18. Week 7 • Oct. 24, 2022 — ONE asterisk 26. Authors. When Esquire began as a men’s lifestyle magazine in the 1930s, he was asked for manly content and wrote in 28 of the first 33 issues. 27. Bodies of Water. The Kattegat & Skagerrak Straits separate these 2 seas. 28. Charity. A Catholic charity called Caritas Rome is the beneficiary of money collected from here, over the years averaging about $3,500 daily. 29. American Composers. He turned to opera with the 1903 work “Guest of Honor”, likely inspired by Booker T. Washington’s dinner at the White House. * 30. Artists. Sabena Airlines commissioned a painting by this artist, “L’Oiseau de Ciel”, a bird whose body is filled with clouds in a blue sky. *
  19. Add me to Team Rowan. I would love to be one of their friends, or be able to just hang around with them. It's refreshing to find someone so bright and positive and happy and outgoing AND, darn it, smart. I'd love to be able to count Rowan as a friend. While I like many of the ToC players (except He Who Sent My Boyfriend Home), I would be pretty happy with Rowan being right up there in the tourney, if not winning the whole thing.
  20. I have to wonder about burying that suitcase right ON a hiking trail and not in the center of some heavily wooded forest. I mean, just step off the trail four or five paces and bury the thing there. Plus, Walt managed to bury a whole person deep enough, Sunny can't dig a hole deeper than four inches to bury the suitcase? And no animal would bother to dig that thing up unless it was full of Little Debbie snack cakes or something else to eat. Wild animals aren't much interested in the latest fashion. I think swinging around a few lies would be easier for Buck than hiding another body. Those are starting to pile up. I'm thinking Cormac is behind some of those old dead bodies though. Not that I want that to happen. I kinda like him stalking Cassie. More Walt and Donno please!
  21. We've already seen how slathering on some tar-pit tar and a duct-tape wrap can fix that prosthetic, so no problem.
  22. WORD to your post @iMonrey. I feel like the writers are making stuff up every few minutes to fill out 45 minutes of story. It's like they are taking us on a '60s LSD trip via every episode. (Not that I know anything about '60s LSD trips.) But it is kinda fun since nothing makes sense. I can deal with that!
  23. No one thought about, you know, STEPPING on some of those big spiders? They weren't horse sized. Instead, they were held off by a Bic lighter. Alrighty then. I would have laughed MAO if they escaped from the spiders and went through the wall into a room full of snakes.
  24. [Ed McMahon voice] "You are correct, Sir!" Of the 28 players who have reported in so far, five scored a 4, five scored a 3, and 16, yes 16/sixteen! scored 2 and below. I'd say you are delicately balanced at the top of the pack this week, Your Majesty. Well done!
