  1. Does Kellie eventually do anything? I've been watching some season 1 episodes (my first 90210 ever) and she seems largely inessential and colorless so far.
  2. I don't know that it's the *most* inside reference, but I remember cackling at the Susan Blackwell cameo in the finale. So great.
  3. "Thanks" to this podcast I have started watching 90210 for the first time. Things I did not realize: this ran until the year 2000? And at some point along the way basically turned into "Dynasty"? TBH, so far I have thought the show isn't quite as bad as you make it sound, but maybe I am just cherry picking the competent episodes. Or maybe I just loved Evil Amanda from the not-a-slumber-party too much.
  4. First bad episode of the season? Feels like we're finally seeing the downside of revealing so many secrets so early, because this was absolutely treading water.
  5. Not to muddy the waters, but I always associate this song with the movie "A Home at the End of the World". (Although I have seen zero of these episodes, so.)
  6. Obviously, Captain Howdy from "The Exorcist". And Olive Snook (Kristin Chenoweth) from "Pushing Daisies". She sings, she dances, she occasionally is overtaken by demonic possession.
  7. That Ahndrea computer gif is perfect. I will also be the suck-up who has only ever seen one episode of "90210" but still finds this podcast entertaining.
  8. When I watched on Hulu this morning, they definitely had swear words blanked out. At first I thought it was the product of a pilot meant for premium cable but episode 2 did the same thing. Not the most inexplicable choice this show is making, though. They almost got me to Google "was Charles Manson bisexual?" but I stopped myself.
  9. Not to salt the wound, but that was a really entertaining Canon section. I have definitely been in the position of trying to explain an interest that doesn't quite translate to general audiences, so getting to hear the other side of that dynamic was fascinating. I have resigned myself to never figuring out the Phrase that Doesn't Pay. I just get caught up in the show.
  10. Confused by all the updates I keep seeing for "GMW" - are they actually running this 5 nights a week like it's "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman"?
  11. Bit harsh on the Corden "Late Late Show". I've been enjoying it, and I thought I'd been reading that CBS was pleased with the numbers? Some of that is spin about social media/Youtube hits, but it's not DOA or anything.
  12. In retrospect, "The Slap" was structured like an actual slap. It came on strong at first but then slowly faded. Connie and Ritchie had way more slap-worthy lines than that. "You're going to win the Art Prize. Everybody says so."
  13. "Still Mad About You". Reiser and Hunt are available, and their daughter would now be a young adult. Hey, it's not any less likely than "Coach".
  14. Think how long it took for the title character on "Hannibal" to have his cover blown. I think someone lying about their age can probably sustain for a while. It also helps that it's... resolutely inconsequential? It's the "Bosom Buddies" or "Three's Company" premise - the stakes for getting found out are pretty low, it's just a hook to get people on board while they set up actual plots and relationships.
  15. I can't really be mad at "Glee", despite all the times I was mad at it. I keep coming back to the fact that if a show like this had been around when I was in high school it would have meant a lot; it means something even now.
  16. It was weirdly perfect how little screen time Aisha got in her own episode. And I was howling when Gary had his speech about how meaning in art should be left entirely up to the viewer; "All you have to do is take the pictures." Speaking of which - what IS Richie hiding? He is so shy about these photos, and also acting like he doesn't know how to delete any of the ones he doesn't want to be seen. They have been so hyped at this point it better be an accidental bigfoot sighting or something. If he's just worried that he took too many photos of whichever dad he's crushing on and it would look conspicuous - hey, we've all been there.
  17. All respect to the submitter, but that "Fringe" episode sounded absolutely impenetrable. Although to be fair, I was also thrown by that "Star Trek invents non-verbal communication" episode y'all loved. Either I'm subconsciously an anti sci-fi snob, or that genre suffers most when discussed out of context.
  18. This show even had a freaky Friday. Some enterprising gay bar could have a trivia round where people have to guess if a list of "Glee" plot points actually happened or not.
  19. I'll stay spoiler free, but I'm still reeling over the music theme for next week's episode. Also much like classic "Glee", it has a fever dream specificity and seems to completely disregard the youth audience's likely frame of reference. I'm looking forward to it.
  20. I said it with season 2 of "Smash": sometimes finales of terrible shows are MORE cathartic, because I really feel like I've been through hell with these kids. I don't know that I'd call "Glee" terrible, but if I made it through the puppet and superhero and dog adoption episodes, I can't think what this show could do to alienate me now.
  21. I tracked down "Rags to Riches" last year, having never heard of it before. It... sounds entirely perfect on paper, but maybe has a few small issues. 1) Lack of commitment to its 60s setting. It is the 80's-est 60s you will ever see. 2) Most of the songs are sung in unison by all six girls, which creates like the opposite of the "Glee" autotune problem. If any of them are talented singers, good luck figuring that out because it's all just kind of shouted. 3) General poor quality. (Sorry, but it is way low budget.) Okay, those all add to its charms, actually. If nothing else, I invite you all to watch this clip of two of the "Not Ready for Kids Incorporated" Players singing "Anyone who had a heart" to a horse. Yup.
  22. Has someone alerted Wig Cop that last night they literally had Gillan hang out in a wig closet for much of the episode? They're taunting us! This show is adorable and probably doomed. How many more seasons before ABC stops the "bad show name" trend?
  23. This week: the Penguin works his way up at a restaurant job, Fish auditions nightclub acts, and a female character finally goes to a second location. Guest starring The Little Wonder from the musical "Oklahoma!" I may be done with this, y'all.
  24. Tankgirl - thanks for the detailed breakdown. After posting I felt I should have said "fairly certain" or something along those lines instead; and it's still a conspicuous lack even if it's not 100% of the time. Of course, this could be another in a line of false leads we've gotten from the show... but I wouldn't be angry if Perkins showed up again for something more mysterious/complicated than a companion role.
  25. I am not a crackpot, but here's what was weird about Perkins: no one spoke to him, acknowledged him, or made eye contact with him except the Doctor. He had all kinds of lines that he just delivered into the air and no one reacted to. There was one moment where the Doctor tossed him a gadget and one of the extras read the display over his shoulder, but otherwise this was scripted as though an early draft had Perkins as the Doctor's imaginary friend/way of dealing with Clara leaving. (Even the last Tardis scene, Clara doesn't so much as look at him!)
