  1. I liked this! To me the difference between this and NBC's recent run of sci-fi efforts is simple: this looked fun, and is fun. I don't need a lot of portent and conspiracy, just give me a sustainable "Quantum Leap" style show, loosely serialized. I'm down with that for at least a few seasons.
  2. Tori's new hair = the Betty masks from bank-robbing cheerleader movie "Sugar & Spice".
  3. I watched ahead tonight because I was intrigued by the promise of Val. The next episode is a total friggin' snooze, shocking for a season premiere. Suggested alt. title "Waiting for Godot-Amber Thiessen".
  4. A thousand "Grace of My Heart" spin-offs, tie-ins, and re-releases, please and thank you. Let's just rethink most things about the Stoltz and Dillon characters.
  5. That's a good point - Mann was an irritant, but Dawson seemed to burn actual bridges. I'm sure neither had much impact on whether the series were renewed, but if anything I'd guess the latter created more trouble in that regard.
  6. I loved this series but it can't have been cheap to produce for something so niche. Cable has already had trouble with overproducing dramedies about dissatisfied Californians; this has some of the same hurdles, plus a layer of industry insider-ism, so I can't be too surprised that it didn't catch on.
  7. I had a "Barbarella" poster in high school, but that was in like 2000, it was on clearance at a Suncoast Video, I had an advanced interest in camp cinema, was pretentious about it, and I STILL only sort of knew the reference.
  8. I am looking at these before listening to the podcast and I feel literally insane. When did the dorm become an actual setting, with characters? That dog seems legit scrappy instead of "TV scrappy". Poor Andrea, just in general.
  9. If advertising this way is their attempt to apologize for all the worm-eye promos, I don't accept. Still angry.
  10. They really need a second symptom for Eleven other than those small nosebleeds that don't slow her down at all. They're so frequent it could be the basis for the world's grossest drinking game.
  11. I like what "Stranger Things" is doing, but I would feel so much better about it as a 6 hour movie rather than 8 hours with series potential. It's a little pacey, in that "no one discovers anything until the last 10 minutes of every episode" kind of way.
  12. In a sea of 80s references, they really got these kids to commit to period appropriate hair. Barb is full-on Martha Plimpton in "Goonies".
  13. "It's like the prequel to Go, No." I laughed and laughed. The Sarah Polley shade of it all.
  14. McBride has become such a dealbreaker for me. He's technically very good at what he does, but deliberately unbearable is still unbearable. And as you say, we are well past saturation point on comedies of toxic masculinity and misplaced confidence.
  15. Count me among the people who have no problem with cookie cutters in this context. How is that any more lazy than generic, freeform roundish biscuits?
  16. Is it really possible that Grace only dated 10 men over seven seasons? And yes, Nathan/Woody was the best.
  17. This is neither here nor there, but I saw this headline and immediately thought "Jack Donaghy vs Jack McFarland".
  18. I actually thought there was at least one alternate answer to the "hickey" question, but it was in such poor taste that it would never make it to air. I liked the writing overall; the question about the Baldwin brothers was funny but kind of impossible to match.
  19. I liked the new "Match Game"! Baldwin was so high energy it's like he decided to host it as a character.
  20. Bananas are disgusting, the worst texture nature has to offer. Clearly I need to start taking up a collection for some ad time.
  21. I no longer understand this segment. Didn't it start as a casual interview setting with musical interludes? And now it's 85% singing, but in a way that isn't as good as the recording or a proper live performance. MTV should just bring back "Unplugged" already if people are so wowed by this.
  22. Evan actually tried a "him or me" ultimatum when there are still like 16 other dudes in the house? Way to overestimate your value, guy - you've now singled yourself out as "the one who tried to control JoJo's decisions" when there's a whole roster of lower maintenance guys left to choose from.
  23. "The person on my horse" is just legendary writing, full-stop. Truly the gift that keeps on giving, despite not technically getting given.
