  1. I am not a crackpot: network TV needs more promotional nonsense like this. We don't get fall preview specials anymore, minimal crossover events, no "Circus of the Stars"... If the worst the cast of "Scorpion" has to put up with is occasional time served on "Hollywood Game Night", their contracts don't have enough clauses.
  2. Re: Gil's floppy 90s hair, the only person I can think of who made that look good was Chris Eigeman. And Gil is no Chris Eigeman.
  3. I mean... "Orphan Black", right? Love it, but love it enough that I want those characters to find some resolution. The longer the conspiracy stuff spreads out the less I care.
  4. AND I still have an mp3 player. It doesn't run down my phone battery and works quickly like a drag-n-drop flash drive, so who's laughing now?
  5. I will take responsibility for getting "bovvered" on the spreadsheet, and stand by it. Bovvered is a perfectly cromulent word. Consider yourselves lucky I didn't get any "Doctor Who" through. SPAAAAACE!
  6. I just caught up with season 2 of "Please Like Me", and Tom needs to go. I can't look at that deadpan stare and him playing the victim any more. The show knows he's pathetic, but that doesn't make it any more palatable.
  7. With that rambling game time question about whether or not fingerprints repeat, all I could think was: did Angela Chase ever give a eulogy?
  8. Aw, looks like I picked the wrong week to never watch "Law and Order" or "Breaking Bad". It's almost as though having bad taste doesn't pay off.
  9. This is my first exposure to 90210, so I'm surprised to hear how thoroughly it was turning into just the Brenda and Dylan show around this time, especially considering that Brenda's days on the series are numbered.
  10. I'm enjoying "Jessica Jones" so far, but I agree with Alan Sepinwall's article today about recent TV relying too much on serialization. I was hoping for "JJ" to have individual cases each episode in addition to the overall plot, like "Veronica Mars". But instead it was so fixated on the A story that some episodes went by with only incremental progress or incident.
  11. Anything else think Jennifer's death tableau was an homage to "Creepshow"? That movie has a big reveal of a head on a platter piled high with cake frosting, looked a lot like her waxy buildup.
  12. I don't know what to make of the crime side of the story at this point - I had hoped we'd lose Sin Rostro between seasons. I think the show is afraid of being *just* a soap, so they feel the need to keep something more heightened around; I also see how without an ongoing crime thread there's less justification to keep Michael hanging around.
  13. I will admit up front: I have never seen "Adventure Time" (ubiquitous gifs aside), I think the submitter did a good job with his case, and I'm not directing the following at him specifically. However, I did flinch a little bit at the mention of the show's creative vernacular, like "oh my glob", as an offshoot of boyish imagination. If that's a big part of what this show is celebrated for, we as a culture owe Diablo Cody an apology. We probably do anyway.
  14. I have elaborate Jess theories. I think he probably helped invent Bitcoin but ditched the project before launch because it didn't live up to his political ideals. So now he's like the Winklevoss twins, but for BitCoin. That, or he runs one of those weird curated subscription services that advertises on podcasts, where every month they send you a book and a bracelet made out of old bike chains. Also then he died, on his way back to his home planet.
  15. Yeah, I guess I can see that - doesn't feel necessary though as long as the conclusion was still "let's not fight this the traditional way". Could have given the story more coloring rather than a few stray jokes about beta males. I think my larger worry is that the thought process was "We need to make sure Maisie's character stands out as special, so the other women can't really contribute alongside her" - which is just... well, at best it's a lack of imagination. Although I'll probably leave it there, before I start criticizing the story it wasn't more than the story it was.
  16. I liked this a lot, but here's my nitpick of the week: they establish that the Mire harvests testosterone, so why not make the story about the Doctor rallying the viking women left behind? Or at least include one or two of the women in the line-up of people he's trying to train? Or, I don't know, give a single line of dialogue to any viking woman besides Ashildir? Feels like a missed opportunity, and it wouldn't have needed to drastically reshape the story to go that route.
  17. I have one thing I'd change about this episode: Bennett should have died instead of O'Donnell. As others have said (here and elsewhere), they've killed off similar fangirl characters before, and this particular death was pretty poorly staged. Better story: Bennet gets the axe, so O'Donnell is the one who has to come to terms with what travel with the Doctor is really like (outside of the files she read), the danger of meeting your heroes, etc. It'd be a much more interesting dynamic.
  18. I forget, has this link been passed around here since the AWT launch? "We're a cross between U2 and Pearl Jam."
  19. This felt a little tired to me, sadly. How many times has the Doctor debated ethics and interference by this point? "A Town Called Mercy", "Kill the Moon", "Waters of Mars", sort of "Let's Kill Hitler", "Genesis" but also present in things like "Into the Dalek"... Some of those work better than others, but they're all obsessing over the same damn theme. It's like all he can talk about but he still doesn't have an established policy? I want fresh ideas, not continual doubling back and ret-con.
  20. Wait, sincere question for Alex - when was it established that Devin is straight?
  21. Someone forgot to tell NBC that product placement only generates money if they advertise something other than their own shows. Unless someone is running a money laundering scheme where they route funds through as many internal departments as possible?
  22. Hmm. Apologies for the misinformation. I'd say it's overdue for canon consideration, but I'm too computer dumb and voice shy to follow through on that. Probably.
