I wasn't sure where the best place to put this was but since I blame the writers I figure here would be the best place. I can't believe how quiet this off season is. With the final season coming up, I would think that there would be all kinds of buzz, but there in nothing. *I find nobody is really talking about anything. That's because Dabb and company make speculation pointless when they change the rules every episode. It seems that not only is the entire writing crew back, but that "watch while cleaning" assistant is going to be writing another ep and it seems like Berens got promoted instead of leaving. I believe last year he was a co-executive producer now he's a full executive producer. I'm not even sure Jared and Jensen can save this mess. *Of course, I'm talking about my corner of the SPN fandom, not the entire thing.

I did too, but I still forgot about it. lol. I don't even know what season 13 was supposed to be about.

Acutally, there is no need to watch s 1-14. Based on the way 14 ended, none of it matters anyway. For me the show completely lost its original charm and heart after 11.4. They brought back a pointless character who will now just not go away. I personally think Dabb took over right after episode 5 because that is when the season turned to crap and the show never really recovered. I liked Regarding Dean and Asa Fox in s12. There is honestly no episode that stands out for me in 13. I can't even remember one, they all blend together. As for s14, I pretty much stopped watching whole episodes after 7 becasue of he shift to a character I care nothing about. The only whole episode I watched after that was episode 13 and that was for nostalgia. It wasn't horrible but it was a let down because something I really wanted to happen never did.

These Spoilers Suck: Bitter Speculation About SPN Spoilers
ILoveReading replied to catrox14's topic in Supernatural
I can’t link because I don’t know how in my phone but there was a post on tumblr about jensen’s Meet and greet at jib where he said he wrote a scene for the writers to use in the ep he is directing. Between wanting to bring back former writers, writing his own material and wanting a say in the direction of the season it really sounds like he has no trust or faith in any of the writers to do the show justice. -
I’m on my way home from a fantastic week at Jib. The guys were all in a great mood. My auto session with Jensen was just the best. Because just as I went up to the table Misha sat at the table next to him and they started throwing Kleenex packages at each other and having a staring contest. This went on for like a minute before Daniela scolded them to get back to work. So I basically got to witness this close up and get extra time being right next to Jensen. I made a poster with my favorite Dean eps and the eps he directed he took a bit of extra time to look over my poster and comment and he pointed to the list of eps I had that he directed I asked if I would get to add to it and he shook his head yes (I didn’t think that is considered a spoiler) so he is directing this season seriously, every con makes me love him more @catrox14 Ricky is also one of the nicest dudes and hilarious. At his autos he was hugging everyone before and after. Making everyone laugh in photo ops and his panels. off topic but I’m still fan girling so hard after hugging Sebastian Stan.

Supernatural Bitterness & Unpopular Opinions: You All Suck
ILoveReading replied to mstaken's topic in Supernatural
I don't like the idea of Dabb and co. having the last say either, but given that they can't seem to find any talented writers, I still think the duo would be in charge. of any future projects. So now or in the future there is a very good chance the final say is in the hands of this crew. From comments they made it sounds like they agree the quality took a nosedive. I'm sure the decision to end it didn't come easy to them for the very reasons that they consider the cast/crew family and their decision affects so many others. I guess for me, I don't see the point in ending the show if your plan is just to bring it back in a couple of years. Their contracts would be ending. That would give them as much power now as they would in the future. Even if they were promised something to get them to sign, that doesn't mean the producers would follow through. The Michael story is a prime example of this . Even reading the script for a movie, scripts can change right up until filming. Why should they have any trust that BTS crew would do right by them regardless of what they were promised upfront. This is why my unpopular opinion is just let go. -

My unpopular opinion is that I really don't want to a limited streaming series or a movie. This is an old show that even if they did a limited series it would most likely be the same bts scenes crew we have now. If we got a movie it would probably either be Dabb or the duo writing a movie or show running. They've already destroyed everything that made this show special. I'd rather they just let it go. I'm excited to see Jensen in something new. Staying committed to this show in anyway would limit his availability. -

I wish this was so. I know that con guest lists really don't mean anything but so far both Pellegrino and Alex Calvert have been invited to every con in 2020. They usually only do that with regulars. So I think Lucifer and or Nick is coming back. -
Id say that we'll get scenes of Dean, Sam and Cas fighting the Zombies, juxtaposed with Billie giving Jack his 1587th "you're the most specialist snowflake" speech. Then just before the guys are about to be taken out Jack will show up and stop all the Zombies. Then Dabb and company will retell 20 classic eps while Jack takes care of anything God related.

I wasn't a big fan of his portrayal either. I think this was the Dean we would have gotten without Jensen. In fairness to Brock though, the was badly written in this ep. I don't think Dean would have been calling the teacher, honey and sweetheart and announcing they wouldn't be there that long. I would thin John told them to keep a low profile, not stick out. No way would Dean have yelled "I'm a hero." It's not surprising this episode was written by Dabb.
-
Part of me wonders if what Jensen is excited about is the set up to put the brothers back on the road, Saving people, hunting things and classic SPN eps.
-
I went back and looked up the inteview. This is what Richard said. He interpreted the script as Dean was a bad brother. He may not have have wrote it but he directed that scene with that intent in mind. So I change the statement what I feel the scene intended to to tell us.. Based on writing and directing it was too tell the audience that Dean failed Sam. I went back and looked up the interview. In this ep we're shown that Dean was dragged off by John and Sam was left behind. Even though there were times that Dean didn't make the best decisions, this episode was not one of them. He literally had no choice about leaving Sam behind. So Dean not being there for Sam was sometimes a physical impossibility but that is not what Speight was trying to say. This episode could have had Sully spell that out in no uncertain times. It didn't. Of course, Dean wasnt' the perfect brother. He was child. Children make mistakes. It goes back to what I was saying. That instead of telling the audience Dean wasn't always there for Sam, they should be sending the message that he never should have hand to. Sam telling Dean that he's was cleaning up Dad's messes is just more "you did the best you can." Again I'm looking for, "you shouldn't have hand to clean up Dean's messes for so long." IMO, its not the same thing.
-
Unless the story line is about Jack then it will never end.
-
For me authorial intent is important. Given Speight's interview about Dean had to learn that he wasn't always there for Sam, its tells me what his intentions are when he directed that scene, was to say that wasn't there for Sam. IMO, this is exactly what the episode said. We saw that Sam was left behind on his own while John dragged Dean on a hunt. How can Dean be there for Sam when he had obligations to John. That is expecting Dean to be in two places at once. I guess I wasn't clear, I'm not looking for people to say that Dean did the best he could or that he was always there for Sam. What I want is for the show to acknowledge that he should never have had that responsibility in the first place. It's not about whether he successed or failed. Its about having that unfair burden put on him. I want the show to acknowledge this and then not take it back five minutes later. The closest was in s2, but then John turned around and dumped responsibility back in Deans' lap.
-
These are mine too. I think s1 is my favorite cliffhanger. My favorite season openers are 4, 2, 9, 10, 1, 5, 3, 8, 11, 14, 12, 6, 7, 13,

This might be more unpopular opinion but i believe that if people prefer Dean the reason is at least due to 75% Jensen Ackles, with direction, being another 15 and the writing being 10% Because I've always found Dean to be underdog in terms of writing. In the beginning, he wasn't the chosen one. He was the side kick, but Jensen embraced the role in a way Kripke never envisioned. He made Dean so much more then he was ever supposed to be. He did the same with Alec on Dark Angel. So much so he made the leads jealous. I know personally I find the underdog easier to root for. A good example of this Just My Imagination. All that episode did was leave me feeling bad for Dean. Because it showed me that not only did Sam have Dean and John looking out for him, but supernatural creatures as well. All it did was leave me asking who was looking out for Dean. It showed that he really had no one. And that he literally had to be in two places at once. No wonder he felt like he didn't succeed. It royally irritated me once again when Dean had to thank Sully for looking after Sam when he didn't. Once agian , everyone failed to say that this wasn't a failure on Dean's part. I find if there is a controversial decision to be made 9 times out of ten they put that decision in Dean's lap and if its Sam, they make sure to build up a narrative around it about why its okay.

This show doesn't have the budget for a Zombie apocalypse. I suspect that the zombies will be dealt with in the first ten minutes. We'll get glimpses of them fighting while the real focus of the scene is on Billie's conversation with Jack. Then he'll swoop down, take out all the zombies and then it will be business as usual with the writers being lazy and copy and pasting eps with the Winchesters trying to track down all the things they hunted before. The episodes Cas and Jack aren't in, i'm sure we'll get an offhand reference to Cas taking Jack hunting and him putting down monsters at 10x the rate of the Winchester.
