  1. This for me is another example of a double standard (not directed at you DittyDottDott, just in general). Dean clearly wasn't ready to deal with Jack yet he was excepted to put aside his issues for the sake of going along to get along. Why is is okay for Sam to hold onto his issues and pain and anger no matter the situation but Dean is expected to either suck it up, bury it, or or just get over it.
  2. So I think the roofie spell is going to be pretty much gone by the first commerical break and if not then by the back half of the episode.
  3. Based on this the various sneak peeks, this one seems pretty paint by the numbers. I figure we get the teaser scene, then there is the Sam researches, Dean get beer scene. Then Dean runs into the witch sisters and gets hexed. They tell him to bring him the book. He goes back to the bunker to get it. Sam tries to stop him, and Dean punches Sam. He takes the book to go meet the sisters. Sam follows, pulls the gun. They fight and the hex bag falls out of his pocket. Rowena arrives and picks it up, then we get the car scene. I think Rowena is behind the whole thing from the start. I wish I could buy this explanation, but he happens far to often and they seemed to stop counter balancing it with smart Dean moments. I really beleive this is how the writers see Dean. But I feel like I'm getting into bitch vs jerk so I'll just agree to disagree with this.
  4. I wish I could like this post more than once. You said everything I was thinking in a much better way then I could.
  5. I've found Sam always looks down on Dean in matters of academics. That's not new. But its like the writers can't remember that Dean knows how to research. I said this was going going to be a repeat of s8 and this just further confirms that feeling, especially with Sam dismissing Dean with "go get beer." Since I have a hard time believing Perez wrote last week, I wonder if they got their script covers mixed up. But then I remember Yockey was the one who wrote that line with Dean asking Sam to fix the colt.
  6. After this sneak peek, I also have a bad feeling about this one. More mopey Sam, and we;re back to Dean can barely read and Sam needs to correct him.
  7. I find the whole "Sam doesn't stand up for himself' trope to be exaggerated. Sam stands up for himself and gives back as good as he gets more often than not. Examples, The pilot, bloody Mary, Fallen Idols, metamorphosis, Slash Fiction, The Purge, Sacrifice, against John in Dead Mans's blood, Torn and Frayed, Citizen Fang, Unforgiven, Road Trip, Southern Comfort, Taxi Driver, First Born, and Point of No Return. Those are the ones I can think of the top of my head. If I go through the episodes one by one, I could probably find more. IMO, when there is a brothers vs brother conflict the narrative will support Sam's view point by giving Dean a straw mans argument, like when Sam was telling about why the was using his powers and Deans' counter was use the knife. The show refused to allow Dean to mention exorisms. Or during Fallen Idols when Sam accused Dean having to get away because Ruby treated him like an adult, but refused to allow Dean to point out he did allow Sam to make his own decisions and Ruby pulled his strings like a puppet.
  8. That's my speculation as well. I also don't think Dean's under the roofie spell very long. Because he seems normal in the scene with Rowena in the car. This might be along the lines of Out with the Old, where Dean being cursed was over in the first 10 minutes and it went from a random monster of the week to a mytharc ep.
  9. This is what frustrates me the most. That and when Dean does something to save Sam he's weak and clingy and when Sam does it its a beautiful act of brotherly love. Sam basically called Dean a selfish coward for doing what he did, but then admits he's doing it because he doesn't want to be alone and its awwww..... Sammy just loves brother. I personally, don't' think Dean did anything wrong but that wasn't the message the episode tried to send. They hired a popular sci-fi actress, gave her a popular sci-fi name, showed flashbacks to her being bullied by the kids at school and by her mom and saving Sam's life. They gave her a sympathetic motive and victims no one would miss. Then they had Dean kill her in front of her son. Then they had Dean break a promise to poor Sammy. It's bad enough that this episode seemed to be written to throw Dean under the bus, it just rubbed salt in the wound that they made Jensen direct it. Then when Sam essentially did the same thing to Benny, the entire thing was swept under the rug because of Dean's text message. I'm not interesting in debating, either issue since its been done, but to me its a glaring example of a double standard.
  10. Producer preview. So Dean does get infected because he tries to help someone. NGL, I know he's ruffied but I coudln't help but laugh when he tackled Sam. Jensen's comedy skill are good when I'm laughing with him rather than at him.
  11. http://comicbook.com/tv-shows/2018/02/01/exclusive-supernatural-clip-quality-time-with-rowena/ Sneak peek.
  12. Maybe some, like the British men of Letters, but a monster usually comes on Sam and Dean's radar because it leaves behind a trail of bodies. If it promises to be good, they usually leave it alive.
  13. It sounds like Sister Jo is going to be speaking enochian.
  14. I'm not sure I agree. Mostly because revenge has never been Dean's primary motivation for hunting. Paraphrasing "If killing that thing means you getting yourself killing, I hope we never find it." Dean was begged Sam not to shoot the YED and kill their father. He wanted revenge on Dick, but after Bobby came back, he seemed more focused on Bobby then he did Dick. (Although that could be the result of the writers dropping yet another Dean storyline.") When he was moving Lisa and Ben around, it seemed to me it was more about being concerned for their safety then chasing hunts. Because of this its really hard to say exactly how Dean would have reacted. I could honestly see it going either way. I do think a strong argument can be made for both sides with Dean. But with Sam, I have no problem seeing the John route. Yes, Dean has similarities with John, like music, cars, leather jackets and a quick temper but past the surface I don't think Dean takes after either parent. That's why I agree with @gonzosgirrl He was either adopted or switched at birth. . I wish the writers had taken advantage of the AU possibilities and used it to explore different scenarios. I'd have sold my soul to Crowley for an AU ep where John died in that fire instead of Mary.
  15. This has to go both ways. I see lots of Dean, should have respected Jack, and Sam's position but why was nobody respecting Deans. At that point in time he wasn't mentally capable of doing what Sam was asking. That had nothing to do with maturity. What was so wrong here about Sam giving Dean a little bit of space. Because it was literally only hours after 3 major losses. (Yes, I'm including Crowley here since Dean did). I would think that Sam might have had the emotional maturity to recognize was that space was what Dean needed the most. Dean didn't expect Sam to keep them apart. He tried to remove himself from the situation. Sam actually tried to tell Dean he couldn't leave. That's Sam trying to control Dean. I don't think Dean was expecting Sam to rearrange anything. He agreed to bring Jack to the bunker. No rearranging was necessary since Dean could easily escape on a hunt. If Sam backed off it stands to reason Dean would too. Sam did expect Dean to help him with Jack. Even if it wasn't sandwiches and bedtime stories he wanted Dean's help. Something Dean was not prepared for at that time. I never said Dean got a pass for how he treated Jack, but Sam very much escalted the situation. He didn't treat Dean any better than Dean treated Jack.
  16. From Ruth's facebook like it sounds like her and Dean don't have many, if any at all scenes together. This is disappointing as I really liked the way the two of them interacted in Regarding Dean.
  17. Ruth's facebook live. Some small spoilers We see Rowena's reaction to losing Fergus/Crowley She saw Jensen doing some funny stuff on set. From the sounds of it the majority of her scenes are with Sam. She's excited about the last shot of the episode. She called it unique.
  18. IMO, Sam wasn't just doing this he was making attempting to make Dean responsible for Jack. He could have said to Dean, "I get your not his biggest fan, I'll take responsibility. All I'm asking is that you be civil. If she shows signs of going evil we'll take action" I do believe Dean would have agreed to this. Sam did not do this . The bunker is a big place, it would be possible for them to avoid each other. When Dean tried to remove himself from the situation in episode 3, Sam's response was basically, "no, we have to take care of Jack." So he was doing a lot more than just pointing out that Dean's actions were wrong. Also when Sam wanted to get away from the bunker that ep, he just left so its not that Sam was worried about him being alone. That is Sam trying to make Dean into a parental figure. Age doesn't matter. It's something Dean clearly indicated he didn't want. Sam continued the my way or the highway approach. Which is why I think he was acting exactly like John in that scene. Also Sam's treatment of Jack wasn't much better in the early episodes. He was also pushing Jack to do things he was uncomfortable with. Again, something John clearly did. Dean couldn't have made it any clearer why he was having trouble being around Jack. Sam's response was to ignore this shove Jack at Dean even harder. They keep trying to say that Sam is really empathetic, he can't be surprised that Dean's response was to act irritated and annoyed. Maybe this isn't fair to Jack, but grief is messy. In fairness to Dean, Sam should have backed off here. IMO, this is why Advanced Thanotology should have followed ep 3 because it would have showed Sam listened to what Dean said. He didn't. He continued to tell Dean he had to be responsible for Jack. I'm not saying that Dean's treatment of Jack was acceptable, but or that Dean wasn't wrong, but IMO, Sam actions in regards to Dean were equally unacceptable. He was demanding and expecting things Dean wasn't ready to give. It was a lot more than just pointing out actions. It's why I don't think there is improved communication between Sam and Dean this season. Because of big part of communication isn't just speaking, its also listening. Dean was shouting, both literally and figuratively he needed space and it was the one thing Sam didn't give him. So I think Sam was equally guilty of acting like an asshat, just in a different way, and his actions seemed very similar to how John treated Dean.
  19. I'd really like a reverse grief counselor ep for Sam. Since IMO, the writers are very lazy and are just copying and pasting, I feel like the back half is going to be exactly like s8. So I don't think you're going to have to worry about Sam getting a win. I figure it will be Sam getting a hero quest while Dean makes dinner.
  20. I hope they treat Sam's depressive state the exact way they treated Dean's. Interpretation is open to how you see it, of course.
  21. This isn't really true. Sam didn't want to help. He was ready to bail after finding it out wasn't there kind of thing.
