  1. This was not a good advertisement for the NYC dressmaker. Josie probably wishes she could move even farther away, like Alyssa. Having only 1 bedroom isn't going to deter her family, and I don't know that Gil/Kelly will help them enforce boundaries or not. There seems to be no boundaries in that circus. I feel so sorry for the ones who don't thrive in chaos. I'd lose my effing mind in a household like that. CLEAN sure was a big deal to her, wasn't it? Ugh. I can't imagine how nasty their house gets in a short amount of time.
  2. I couldn't even focus on the conversation Maggie and her dad were having because the PANCAKES WERE BURNING. You can flip and talk at the same time, guys, and you have no more flour to make new ones.
  3. I thought they were foreshadowing Brian collapsing in the hot tub and the team of 5 going to 3! What the hell was he thinking? And it added no excitement what so ever to that atmosphere. My god. You don't have to be drunk and wild to have a good time. Just show some personality! I think they got in their own heads and felt they couldn't compete with the green team's energy, because surely they have all at least attended one fun party in their lifetimes, right? Good for Kelsey! This was a challenge made for her, and she delivered.
  4. That fucking priest had more screen time and a more detailed story than Young Ian -a main character of Drums, and quite entertaining with it- had the whole season! How are we supposed to miss someone who was barely there? Richard Rankin was amazing, though. That's some of the best acting I've seen in this series, and there have been some pretty amazing scenes among the filler bullshit. The show runners really piss me off. They're either going to cram 3 episodes of material into 1, or leave us hanging and be even more off pace next season, which they clearly can't afford to do. It's not like the books get smaller as we go and a lot happens in The Fiery Cross.
  5. I am loving the Poppycock love in this thread! I can't wait to see him next week. He's my number 1 in the history of AGT. Too bad Sharon isn't still on the panel. I think she'd golden buzzer him if she could. We have Howie and Simon left and I just don't know if either of them would. It would be a sweet FU to Piers Morgan if they did! I'll join the chorus of delight for Courtney not making it. Until wildcards are announced anyway. She's awful, and she's going to end up like the lady from last week with vocal cord damage if she keeps up that screeching. Would have rather seen Viktor over the danger act, but oh well. That woman has freaking nerves of steel. We were watching her closely to see if we could catch even a slight flinch, or reaction of any kind, and nope! He gets a lot of credit for not killing the love of his life, but she is a badass.
  6. Kelton may have had substantial savings to put toward the wedding. He has a great career and presumably lived at home til they got hitched. He may have paid for the dress to make Josie's dream come true. And she works a real full-time job too. Big difference between them and some of the others at the times of their weddings. I'm shocked they allowed her to be filmed in a couple of those dresses. She sure did look naked under that lace! Can you imagine a Duggar bride even trying that on, let alone airing the footage? Ha! And someone fetch my smelling salts before the Carlin/Evan engagement airs! They're going to smush their bodies together and sway to the devil's drum?! Holy shit. But still no kissing!
  7. Yep. IIRC, in the book, Bree opts to not wear her stays and comes down to dinner obviously pregnant. She thinks she's accomplished her goal of turning off the suitors, especially the mother, but Lord John disabused her of that notion with the "granny lust" comment.
  8. I think this is going to be a good season. I really enjoyed episode 2. The 3 who are in seem to be handling it all very well so far. I'm the least violent person on the planet but I found myself thoroughly entertained while watching Abner strut his stuff. Cop guy (Abner's name is the only one I remember at this point) is thinking on his feet as well. He was smart enough not to jump at the offer of a sheet right away. Hope he doesn't find himself seriously indebted to the boss guy, but refusing it again may have been insulting and a bad move. The PI guy is going to annoy, though, maybe even more than Barbie.
  9. Dude. Several years ago, at our last house, we had a sweet, elderly neighbor. She was lonely so I always took time to chat with her when I saw her. We knew we had a mutual love of reading. One day when I wasn't home, she brought a book over for me to read. My husband, thinking he's doing something great, gives her Outlander. Cue me freaking TF out. And he's all, "Don't worry, I gave her the loaner copy, not your signed copy." He has no clue what these books contain. He only knows that I love to share them, and he was so proud that he knew not to loan out my cherished signed editions. I never in a million years would have offered her the book. Not because she was old, but from having a clear sense from getting to know her that she would not appreciate it. This little old lady had brought me some Amish/Mennonite/chaste AF "romance" novel. She never looked at me the same. I still cringe when I think about it. And kick myself for not running over there the next morning and ripping it out of her hands. Topic? I didn't hate the episode. They did what they could with all the stupidity. I'm definitely looking forward to Bree and Lord John meeting! That's up there in my favorite parts of Drums. But man, I'm going to miss Ian and Rollo. We've had far too little of them in the show as it is.
  10. @methadonna I believe they stated that MAGA Barbie (great name for her) was the one surrender of the group. So she is supposed to be turning herself in and would look ridiculous doing so in that getup.
  11. Yeah. He came across a helluva lot more organized for this show compared to his 2 predecessors, but his guns and god spiel made me audibly groan. I'm a bit curious as to their selections. It sounds like one shouldn't so much as speak to someone of a different race in the jail, yet these people are supposed to rely on each other? Don't get me wrong, I love the diversity. But it won't make it easy for any of them to have another participant's back if something goes down. Not that it makes me weep for blondie. I doubt the other 2 ladies want to associate with her at all anyway. I'm white and I wouldn't. Anyone else notice that we didn't hear the usual speech that the participants will catch charges if they do anything illegal? We usually hear that a dozen times an episode!
  12. Color me shocked at the sisters' seemingly authentic proclamations that Tori will be a fantastic mother. I just don't see it. She's so freakin immature. Hair? Hair is seriously her concern? I know Jessa Duggar surprised a lot of us with her motherly skills, but she wasn't a hot mess like Tori. I don't understand vow renewals. Til death do us part doesn't leave room for interpretation or expiration. But whatever. As long as I don't have to attend or purchase a gift, I don't care. I was uncomfortable watching this one. I sure hope Whit gets some professional help for whatever happened in the past. Of course I know the most professional help she'll ever see will be in the form of a pastor. :/
  13. Ugh, I hate RW too. It would still be stressful if they had 3 days and experienced servers, but maybe we could see more successes and better cooking.
  14. Germaine! I was giddy with the way the episode opened, though I'm still wondering when they're going to come live on the Ridge. I was also uncomfortable watching the de-virginizing of Bree. It's difficult not to think of her as a child, I guess, even though she is clearly an adult. I skimmed through their sex scenes in the books too. At least Roger probably gave her a big O in the show, there. Maybe she won't have to film a masturbation scene next season. Haha. I'm really not looking forward to the tired sitcom trope of great misunderstandings that is to come. Drums is such a mixture of fantastic writing and awful, awful writing. You just know we're going to get a full episode of Mohawk torture when the time could be better spent. Ugh.
  15. How in the hell would Loaghaire and Joanie manage to haul an unconscious Brianna into a wagon (I assume) and up the stairs of that house and into bed? And I hope we weren't supposed to believe that Brianna would even entertain the idea of Jamie not wanting his and Claire's baby. She knows darn well why they separated!! I like the character of Brianna. DG does a good job of making her characters flawed (some perhaps too much) and therefore realistic. She's a bit of a brat and Roger is a bit of an ass, so they deserve each other! But I found Sophie's acting to be atrocious at first, like many others. She *is* improving but she has a ways to go. It has nothing to do with her appearance or how I pictured her or what I think of the character. The actress was/is not on the same level as many of the others, IMO. Hopefully she learned a lot while working with Tobias. Those scenes and the ones with Joanie showed some great strides and I dearly want to see that continue!
  16. It took awhile for the first LCK to show up on Dish OnDemand too, but both episodes are there now. Poor Jim. I liked him in his season but I didn't think he was going to make it long here. Go Carrie! Tom totally copped out. "This is for young people." Translation: "I don't think I'd win either, with the ridiculous shit we throw at the cheftestants." I don't always watch LCK (I also hate the entire premise of bringing anyone back to compete with those who have not been cut) but when I do, it's mainly because it's nice to see his more human, fun side.
  17. For those who missed it, the little opening scene showed a hand taking a small snake out of a privy hole. The snake was squeaky clean and the hand only went in a few inches. It added absolutely nothing but disappointment for those of us who really wanted to see that little story come to life. Usually those openers refer to something that actually happens in the episode!
  18. I missed Ian very much. Non- readers have no idea why a snake was in the privy in that opening scene. I was very much looking forward to seeing that acted out, dammit! I hated this episode. I hate that they have chosen to make the relationship with the nearby Indians so much more contentious. Willie wanders 10 paces behind the ridiculous carving to fish at dawn and a whole gang descends upon them for blood? Give me a break! I had second hand embarrassment for the actors having to perform that. I thought I would at least tear up a bit at the reunion but it all felt very wooden to me.
  19. Me too. I'm hoping they went and just weren't allowed to film. He was clearly loved there and I'm sure some of his former caretakers would love to see him.
  20. The Kleins aren't hurting for money. I am pretty sure Will will get another China trip when he's a bit older. Just as I assume there will be more than one India trip in Zoey's future.
  21. My face upon hearing Murtaugh speak his first line mirrored Murtaugh's face when he heard Jamie speak his first line. And then cue the tears! This is one change to the story I've supported wholly.
  22. No. John and Joe are very close, and have been for a long time, and John didn't veil his disgust with Josh very well when the shit hit the fan.
  23. I thought it was pretty much a known fact that Frank knew Bree went back. He raised her to ride horses and shoot/hunt and all kinds of things dads weren't typically teaching their daughters in the 60s in Boston. He was prepping her for 18th century life.
  24. Thanks! Guess I missed it. I like book Brianna. I was so excited to see her come to life until I saw Sophie act. I agree that she seems to have improved some, so I'm going to be optimistic for now. I truly think it's the fact that she concentrates on the accent. The show runners screwed up by not casting an American. It's not like they have a score of Americans faking Scottish accents, for which I am thankful even when I struggle to understand, so they could have done us Americans the same favor. I started welling up a bit, imagining her meeting Jamie, knowing that we are closer. They better not screw it up!
  25. That part played out very closely to the book. I'm glad they kept it in the show. It was a nice little plot point for Jamie to feel like he was home again. I'm amazed there's any criticism of Claire being immovable on the point of River Run! I wouldn't care if it was only her decision and she had a Veruca Salt tantrum in the drawing room (though I do wish Jamie's line about living as a slave and never being able to own one had made it to an episode)! We are talking about owning slaves. Humans owning other humans and forcing them into lives of brutality. It doesn't matter how she's acted in the past or how she'll act in the future or what Jocasta thinks of her. I see the flip side anyway. Jocasta is pissy that she didn't get her way despite her Mackenzian method of naming Jamie in front of all those people without so much as a prior discussion. I am still a but confused as to why they changed things so much with Jamie and Claire's decisions on where to live, and with regards to Ian. We still got to Fraser's Ridge with the same outcome. Why make it so muddled? I'm hoping there is an actual reason for that. I am very relieved that the Bree and Roger scenes were condensed. Some changes are for the better!
