  1. I enjoyed PY on Suburgatory. His lovable, doofusy, sweet Ryan made SA's Hung character look like a rocket scientist in comparison. Since SA's eschewing shirtlessness nowadays, here's hoping PY will pick up the slack. And it looks like he may be able to do some of his own stunts: https://instagram.com/p/mtqM4tB3P5/ https://instagram.com/p/2jNadUh3OP/ https://instagram.com/p/tiMRHQh3F1/ https://instagram.com/p/cnzVkAh3Lj/ And maybe even dance: https://instagram.com/p/kXug_vB3Is/
  2. Brief [old] podcast interview w/SA starts at 3:36: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/not-sam/sam-roberts-wrestling-podcast/e/srw-043-summerslam-preview-stephen-amell-40192334
  3. I know nothing about Ben H. because I stopped watching his season as soon as the guys voted for Kaitlyn over Britt, but he's got to be better than smarmy, affected Nick, whom I do not find attractive at all. I still wish they'd cast Arie as The Bachelor instead of Winery Ben. Winery Ben was fugly and he was even worse at kissing than Lobster Sean so I never made it past his first ep. Arie, on the other hand? I agree that he's not really hot but he knows how to kiss and doesn't seem to take himself too seriously. I love the way he acknowledged that he didn't have massive biceps like every other guy in the house but he couldn't have cared less. Ames would be interesting and fun. I imagine we'd see a lot of "Olive Garden is my favorite Italian restaurant" caliber interactions. But the hottest bachelor for me so far? Ian McKee from Meredith's season.
  4. I knew Daniel Wu (Sunny) when he was a little kid (I went to college with one of his sisters and we used to go to their house to hang out and do laundry). It's nice to see him finding some success in the U.S. He's been a huge star in Asia for years but he moved back to California last year when his mom passed away.Into the Badlands wouldn't ordinarily be of interest to me but I've never seen any of Daniel Wu's work so I'll at least give the pilot a try.
  5. Stardust wrote a touching piece on his wife's blog when his dad died recently (SA favorited it on Twitter last month): http://www.beingbrandirunnels.com/?p=120
  6. After all the fanfare, looks like The Rock beat him to it. I only watched the first three minutes but DJ explains that Team Facebook and Zuckerberg approached him about being "the very first actor to launch this platform" because "no one really connects to the fans the way [he] does." I don't know much about DJ but I've always thought he seemed like a nice guy in interviews. Unfortunately, he comes across as an ass in what little I saw of this video. https://www.facebook.com/DwayneJohnson/videos/10153719084514384/
  7. I saw Coriolanus at the Donmar too and agree that he was fantastic. I even watched it a second time when NT Live screened it in the U.S. I assume you've already seen this? I don't know much about Hank Williams or country music but I'll see it for TH.
  8. Yeah, SA isn't just being modest when he says, repeatedly, "I don't dance." Just as well. He can't be good at everything physical, although it sure would be fun to watch him tackle dancing. Dancing is up there with foreign-language speaking and musical-instrument playing for me. Cases in point: piano- and viola-playing Jeremy Northam and French-speaking Bradley Cooper. I was meh on Tom Hiddleston until I caught his dance moves: And it doesn't hurt that he went to Cambridge and speaks Spanish, French, Italian and Greek. [Edited because: when I post from my phone I sometimes can't get YouTube videos to embed correctly.]
  9. The vids didn't play for me either but you can find them and others here: https://mobile.twitter.com/olicitybex
  10. For any New Girl fans:
  11. If you think that still is Oh-my-worthy, you're in for a treat: http://queenpartyoftwo.tumblr.com/post/107253498631/stephen-amell-hung-that-top-gif-is-really He was sweet in Hung but too doofusy to be hot. He was medium hot in New Girl, and very funny in his second ep. In Vampire Diaries, he was hot in a menacing way. In Private Practice, he was smoking hot and intelligent and almost too good to be true.
  12. Where's Diggle? ETA: I know it's supposed to be the three leads (using the term loosely for Ray) but it should've been Diggle and Roy with Oliver.
  13. Hee. At least a magpie getting the munchies doesn't pose much of a threat to us. But a bird being all tactical and using bait to catch fish?
  14. Is WWE actually considered a sport? The mind boggles.
  15. It'll be interesting to see what SA has to say about his idol . . . http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2015/07/24/hulk_hogan_racist_audio_rant_wwe_breaks_of_relationship_with_wrestling_star.html Have to admit that I do not get WWE at all. To be fair, I've never given it a chance but I did catch glimpses of it when it ran over into Eureka, Warehouse 13, etc., and my DVR ended up cutting off my shows way too early. WWE's right up there with monster truck pulls and Real Housewives of Wherever on my WTF scale.
  16. Brandon Davis is the guy who surprised his mom with a phone call from SA this past Mother's Day: http://comicbook.com/2015/05/11/stephen-amell-surprises-fan-for-mothers-day/
  17. Uh-oh. http://youtu.be/OaYlbsy6wLw
  18. 'Tyrant' actress Moran Atias has an intense ambition to succeed (L.A. Times Interview) I saw "Third Person" a few weeks ago and didn't recognize her at all.
  19. Background on the "Share a Coke" campaign which originated in Australia in 2011: http://www.coca-cola.co.uk/stories/history/advertising/share-a-coke/#TCCC
  20. Re: the Olicity mountaintop pic that SA just posted on FB/Twitter --- interesting outfit on Felicity considering they're hiking somewhere strenuous enough to require trekking poles.
  21. From the "Behind the Mask" thread: I believe Chinese is generally considered especially challenging, even among Asian languages, because of the tones: Mandarin has four, Cantonese has up to nine. Get the tone a little bit off and you could be talking gibberish. And many of the dialects are distinct from one another. For example, my dad was born in Shanghai and my mom was born in Guangzhou/Canton, so the only languages they have in common are Mandarin and English. She can't speak Shanghainese and he can't speak Cantonese. And I assume that there are more non-native Mandarin (and Japanese) speakers than non-native Russian speakers because fluency in Mandarin/Japanese can open a lot of doors career-wise. As for Oliver, his Mandarin is unintelligible for the most part. I actually understood his "Hao ba?" in the Hong Kong flashbacks but IIRC, I couldn't understand a word of what he said in the Chinese restaurant in Season 1. EBR didn't get to say much in the Chinese Coke commercial but her pronunciation was more intelligible than SA's.
  22. I'm still watching too but sadly, this show has pretty much become background noise for me. Whereas I used to wait with bated breath for Thursday nights to come around, now I'm lucky if I get to an ep before the following week's ep airs. KK/JR's chemistry used to be enough to make up for the assinine plots and repetitive dialogue but I just don't see it anymore. As awful as Season 2 was, I still found their bickering amusing and even sexy. Now I just find it tiresome and repetitive. Seriously, how many times do we have to hear "going primal" and "innocents" per ep? And is it just my imagination or is Kristin Kreuk really over-acting this season? I've always thought she was a decent actress (never saw Smallville) but it's almost as if she spent her hiatus doing a stage play and is now acting to the rafters. On a positive note, JR's really bringing the charm and the funny this season and I'm still enjoying AB and NL. Never in a million years did I think I'd be more into the J.T./Tess pairing than VinCat, but there you have it. Sad that a show I used to love has become so ho-hum to me. I'm much more into Arrow these days. Where north of Chicago are you? I went to grad school at Northwestern. They're currently shooting Season 4. (details in the media thread)
  23. That was a great interview and I hope they do another one. I'd kind of wondered about his ex because he mentions her a lot and he was clearly devastated by their break-up, even offering to give up acting and go back to selling insurance if it would salvage their relationship. So glad he's in such a great place now.ETA: Now I understand why a lawyer got involved when he drunk-emailed his ex. (It was a bit disconcerting that he'd written something so awful that his "girlfriend" had had to call a lawyer.)
