  1. As soon as Deacon told Rayna that there was a transplant for him (not even a "possible" transplant), I was screaming "Don't tell anyone else until after the surgery". Everyone they tell is going to get all excited and happy, and then if/when things don't work out, they have to be told and then work out how to behave towards Deacon. To me it's like telling people you're pregnant before the 3-month mark. Everyone starts celebrating and then 1 in 4 women have miscarriages and then that news has to be spread.
  2. If they continue her character development as it's been going, I think she's grown too much backbone to get back with Mr Grove. Still can't stand "Master" Gordon's moustache.
  3. Hey Rayna, a couple of parenting tips: Stick to the consequences you mete out, ie, don't take Maddie to the concert. This is why there are so many obnoxious, whiny kids out there. They know from past history that if they keep asking, their parents will eventually give in. If you take your child to a huge rock concert (anywhere actually), you don't piss off home without saying goodbye or making sure the kid has a ride home.
  4. Really Gunnar, you just open the door without knocking and waiting for a response? (And, hint, if there's ever a next time and you follow this advice, if there isn't a response, you go away.) Her boyfriend came to visit, remember? Idiot. Rayna's hair looked terrible in that lighting. At first I thought she'd actually dyed a bunch of it white from about halfway down. Hey high schooler Layla, do you really think Jeff didn't have any relationships before you two hooked up in your sleazy, inappropriate way?
  5. Thank god Rose is dead. I was trying to decide between two British period soaps and matriarchs with awful simpers and weird American accents. Now I can still feel dirty about watching this and Downton.
  6. Wanderwoman - I've been reading your posts and the responses through tears of sadness and hope and gratitude. I'm hoping all your current changes and worries are resolving themselves and that the lovely Maisie continues to thrive. I know from personal experience that it can be very difficult to accept help, but you obviously have loving family and friends who want to. I wonder if you have a strong, assertive friend/family member who would take over some of the mundane things for you and your husband once you get home. This would be someone who could set up one of those on-line sites for family and friends to sign up for meal deliveries. Someone who could give suggestions for a weekly cleaning service, yard work, etc. Your husband could coordinate with her/him with email addresses. I suggest this person should be assertive, because in my experience it's best to have someone who is able to say "The WanderFamily is not ready yet to accept visitors, so if you are signed up for a meal, it would be most appreciated if you could leave it on the porch in disposable containers" or words to that effect. This approach can sound kind of harsh, and some people may be offended, but those who really want to help will appreciate the opportunity and the guidelines. Your coordinator person could also have a list of suggestions for local food delivery services for out-of-towners - whether local takeaway, a deli platter from the supermarket or whatever. (Sorry, I've no idea where you live, or what your local support network is like.) But (big but here), if you do something like this, it should cause no stress to you. Ideally, you would ask someone close to coordinate, let them know what will help, and then leave it to them - no more involvement except being able to get through a day without worrying about dinner. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
  7. Still not sure why it was gratuitous if it was then eaten (if anyone can tell me that Shirin threw the rabbit away after slaughtering it , I will totally change my mind). This week we saw a lizard, a snake, and a hen killed. If I were ever foolish enough to apply for Survivor, never mind appear, I'd like to hope I'd have the foresight to practice some of the necessary skills. Who knows when rabbits might be the next live protein?
  8. Perhaps I missed something, but I assume that she ate whatever she killed, which wouldn't be any different than buying and eating a creature with a face that someone else had slaughtered. (And I can read up on all sorts of things - boxing, being a lawyer, making pate de foie gras, flying an aeroplane, and it doesn't mean I'd be able to do it in reality.)
  9. I don't understand the problem with Shirin having learnt to kill something. Is it because most Americans don't eat rabbit? Or are just squeamish about realizing that what they eat comes from something that was once alive? Would people be upset if she'd learned to slaughter a chicken? Baby chicks are cute, as are lambs and calves. To me, her learning to kill something in a (presumably) humane way is like getting fit, or learning to swim, or balance, or throw. Things people get upset about what contestants don't do before they're on the show.
  10. I wonder whether there will be any acknowledgement of the fatalities in Argentina?
  11. Absolutely Trudy knows Mouch blew off the meeting - that look of hers at the end said it all.
  12. I think you nailed it with "some people". I do know what spoiler means, and to me giving the next location doesn't spoil anything. Obviously, people approach things differently.
  13. Why don't you like the location being given beforehand? I'm truly curious as I personally don't understand what difference it could make to your viewing. Thanks.
  14. I'd forgotten how much I didn't miss this show while it was on hiatus. I thought Sarah could do everything? Walk into jobs she's not qualified for, write plays, snag huge photography jobs with no experience. But she can't put together a piece of flatbox furniture? And +1 to everything everyone else has said.
  15. Jen looked as if she was going to vomit at the restaurant. Eric looked as if he was trying not to cry during his team's meal. Bourdain should have sent Eric home - he admitted he misdirected the guy he sent home. It was obvious by the end of the tasting that Vanessa was going home - she was weeping in her THs before they had even awarded stars.
  16. I believe the BBCAmerica version is always edited - at least it has been as long as I've seen it here. In the UK, it's just under an hour (no ads), in the US it's around 50 minutes, with ads. We're losing probably 15 minutes in the US. I go to Youtube for the original - and for lots of previous episodes.
  17. Who's George and what's he doing there?
  18. Jim Carrey is also one of those egomaniac guests who is constantly looking at himself in the monitor rather than actually participating in a conversation with real people.
  19. Seemed to me like Mr Botox had a hand in that.
  20. Not a good show - non of the Americans really added anything, and even Judy Dench wasn't as funny as she usually (maybe because she didn't have anyone to go up against). Jennifer Aniston just didn't seem to get it, and I found Dustin Hoffman kind of creepy.
  21. Headmaster? Really? She's a woman isn't she? (So many questions, so little time.)
  22. Where did all those students come from all of a sudden. It seemed like way more than 45. And is the school staffed only by Christina and Chef Adam? Apparently all the students have special needs - so why isn't there adult supervision as they wander around?
  23. What I don't understand is how you can get your boyfriend to do most of your work for you and not be disqualified. Also, does that dog live with them? You'd think at least some of the girls would be ticked about that.
