  1. I rarely post on here, but I just felt the need to say that I don't think there has to be a bad guy here. Patrick Dempsey took a risk by asking for pretty heavy accommodations and he lost. Such is life. At least he stood up for his passion. Shonda had a choice between coming up with reasons to have him off screen for chunks of time or killing him off. Either choice would've been valid IMO. She chose the latter. Perhaps she just thinks it's a better story. In fact, I tend to agree (though I didn't like the execution of the actual episode). Maybe I'm wrong and Patrick is a diva or Shonda is the devil. I just don't know that we have enough info to assume either is the whole truth. Count me in as anxiously awaiting the Grey's tell-all though. I think Shonda's perspective would be too one-sided to make a good book. I vote for Ellen Pompeo, who seems to actually view all the drama pretty matter-of-factly and with a sense of humor.
  2. Wow. Despite all the anvils, I couldn't fully believe they'd go through with that until the very end. I'm not a huge Derek fan, so I won't lose any sleep over this, but even I wish this episode had been done better. Add me to the chorus of people who wish he hadn't died as a result of medical incompetence. It just seems wrong. Sucks for a neurosurgeon to lose one of the best in the field on his table. I guess he'll be shut out of all the good conferences for the rest of his career. The only thing that touched my cold dead heart a little bit was thinking about the kids. They won't even remember their dad, other than maybe a few memories for Zola.
  3. I've been thinking that maybe that is actually why they seem so regretful about the adoption lately. I think they realize now that because of the MTV gravy train, they actually could've handled raising Carly (at least financially). I don't agree, but they obviously think that a house and a couple cars suddenly puts them in a better position to have a child, even though they still lack education, ambition, and maturity. In hindsight, they could've been in exactly the same place if they had kept Carly and been on the show. As a side note, reason #243434808 why Carly is better off with B&T: She managed to escape a God-awful trendy name like Novalee Reign.
  4. I assume the quality of her potential suitors will go down after this though right? Leah has been lucky and somehow managed to land two decent men so far. I can't imagine a man with a job, a brain, and pure intentions would want to go anywhere near a twenty-two-year-old with two divorces, three kids, and a drug problem. Her inevitable next guy will probably be a hilariously huge step down, but I hope for everyone's sake that she doesn't keep procreating.
  5. I totally agree. And Tyler also seems to be rewriting history by acting like he just gave Carly to B&T as some kind of really nice favor that they should be constantly paying him back for. In reality, he gave Carly up because he couldn't provide her with a stable home. Maybe he should stop and be grateful to B&T for giving his biological child a great life (not to mention putting up with his BS for this long).
  6. Watching Tyler makes me want to throw things. When he was droning on about wanting Brandon and Teresa to put themselves in Catelynn and Tyler's shoes, he was just completely missing the point. It's not about them; it's about Carly. The one time he finally mentioned her wellbeing it was to talk about how devastated she would be not to have him in her life. Please. That would not affect that little girl's life one bit. She sees them one day a year. I doubt she's dwelling on it the other 364. Maci's explanation of how she got pregnant was also hilarious. "The doctor told me I might not be able to get pregnant, so I decided not to use birth control." WTF? Doesn't she give talks about safe sex to teens or something? Out of everyone's reactions to these surprise second pregnancies that keep cropping up, Bentley's was the best: "LOL no. I'm gonna go play with my toys." I'm glad the kids on this show know how to detect BS because their parents sure aren't very self-aware.
  7. I agree with everything that's been said here. It's nice to hear from sane people after watching this show. The only thing I have to add is that Larry is dangerously close to surpassing Jeff (Corey's dad from TM2) as my favorite Teen Mom grandparent.
  8. Part of me wants to give Ryan the benefit of the doubt and consider that his IDGAF attitude is just a defense mechanism. In the restaurant scene, I though maybe Ryan actually was hurt by Bentley's statement but didn't feel comfortable expressing it, so he brushed it off and stormed out instead. Jen and Larry's reactions made me think that I'm giving Ryan too much credit though and that he doesn't have some secret sensitive soul. When even your doting parents think you're an ass, you're probably just an ass.
  9. Even setting looks aside, I can't see what is so enchanting about Gary's personality. He doesn't seem particularly smart or funny. My best guess is that Kristina is attracted to him because he's a good dad. Despite all his faults, Gary seems to have done a good job so far as Leah's primary caregiver. Leah is a happy, smart little girl. I can see why that would be appealing to a young single mom with a daughter around Leah's age. ETA: I don't mean to imply that all single moms are desperate to hook up with the first decent dad they come across. It just might help explain how Kristina sees past Gary's otherwise skeevy self.
  10. What, you all wouldn't want someone as stable and sane as Farrah taking a scalpel to your face?
  11. I think this is my biggest issue with all of the girls (plus Tyler). They're exactly the same people they were when the show started except they have more money (and, for some, more babies) now. They have more resources than most teen moms do to pursue their educations, seek help for emotional issues, etc. I'm exactly the same age as they are (I think I noticed once that my birthday is a few days before Maci's.), and it's been really funny for me to watch how my perspective on them has changed over the years. For example, I remember sitting on the couch with my roommate during our freshman year of college watching the episode where Tyler proposed to Catelynn the first time, and we absolutely gushed about how sweet they were. Now, I think their relationship is completely toxic.
  12. I just got a chance to watch the new episode. I used to be a big Catelynn and Tyler fan, but I’m over them now. For all the time they spend googling themselves, you’d think they’d be more self-aware. They complain about media intrusion into their lives (after they’ve chosen to be on multiple reality shows), but they can’t comprehend why Brandon and Teresa don’t want their child (who didn’t have a choice in the matter) all over social media? Get over yourselves. Part of me feels bad for Catelynn given that Tyler is doing everything he can to put off marrying her, but girlfriend needs to open her eyes. Tyler’s been dating her for a decade, engaged to her for five years, and gotten her pregnant twice. If he’s still unsure about marriage after all that, it’s not going to happen (unless maybe MTV throws enough money at him). Maci has gotten too self-righteous for my taste. I get that Ryan is rough around the edges, but Maci seems to actually derive pleasure out of vilifying him. She’s been trying to have the same argument with him for six damn years. No wonder he doesn’t want to meet up and rehash the same stuff. I feel like you could’ve taken one of their arguments out of season one and stuck it in this episode and there wouldn’t have been a noticeable difference. I think Amber is clearly in a better place than she was before, but that temper is still there. I did have to laugh at the poor nail technicians who were just trying to quietly do their jobs while Amber & co. were bringing the crazy. I also think Gary is having too much fun with the fact that two women are in love with him (for reasons I sure fail to understand). I would say these girls need to get off the air and move on with their lives, but then I would have to find a new guilty pleasure.
  13. I just caught Amber's show. I have to say I actually gained an ounce of respect for her. I didn't watch the prison special, so I had never heard her articulate the extent of her drug use or her reasons for going to prison. I'm probably just naive, but while I was watching Teen Mom back in the day I had no clue she was on drugs. She's the only one I'm semi-interested to see this season because I'm curious to see more of her sober. If she's still crazy on her own, I guess that's that. I'm not too interested in the rest of them. Maci fluctuates between boring and self-righteous. Catelynn and Tyler have all kinds of issues that I doubt they're ever going to fix. I don't even know what to say about Farrah & co. Not one person in that family is in touch with reality. It's just bizarre to watch them interact.
  14. I would've liked to have seen a new behavioral aide for Max after the Gabby debacle. It was like after they lost her, Adam and Kristina just gave up on trying to correct any of Max's behavior and just decided that the world needed to accommodate him instead. I think it would've been a better story if they had showed some growth (minus the finale where he magically started smiling, making eye contact, dancing with girls, and hugging his sister voluntarily). This will probably be an unpopular opinion, but I think they should've cut the cord with Mark earlier. I didn't think it made sense for them to consider being together after season 3. Once Sarah decided she didn't want a baby, I thought they were basically just kidding themselves. This is more about the finale, but I wish there had been one scene with just the four siblings. Those scenes were always some of my favorites.
  15. I'm pretty sure it was the same house, just with very different landscaping. Old house: I like what the new family did with it. The lighter paint and grassy yard really brightened the place up. Edited to add: Here's what it looked like last night.
  16. The funny thing is I actually agreed with Kristina's general point, but I find the character so annoying that I still wanted to punch her in the face.
  17. Nothing surprises me with this girl anymore. Jenelle is lucky she's even still alive. No one's daily life should be this volatile.
  18. It wasn't mentioned explicitly, but Jasmine and Kristina did arrive at the hospital later than their spouses. I guess we're supposed to assume they spent that extra time making arrangements for the children. They probably waited until a reasonable hour in the morning when they could get the kids to school, call babysitters, etc.
  19. I actually really enjoyed the episode. My only real complaint is that the second half dragged a little bit. I loved the opening montage of everyone getting the call and jumping out of bed even if it was total emotional manipulation. The moment that made me tear up (and I'm not a crier) was when Drew couldn't get his car to start. I usually only find the actor to be average, but I really felt the frustration of "I might never get to see my grandpa again and of course the damn car won't start." I also didn't find Hank's proposal to be that out of the blue. When he spent the whole day sizing Joel up, I figured it wasn't just to show he was jealous but more because the wheels were turning in his head, wondering if he could play the family man role. This is a minority opinion (I think), but I hope Hank and Sarah end up together. I'm a sucker for the two-messed-up-people-somehow-work-well-together storylines. To top it all off, I don't think anyone really annoyed me this episode, and God knows how long it's been since that happened. They dipped into the occasional Bravermanism by badgering the doctors and nurses, but I'm a little bit more forgiving because their emotions were all over the place in the moment.
  20. I'm still amused/terrified that Mama Dawn is supposedly a nurse. How fast would you run away if you showed up to the doctor's office and found out she was the brilliant healthcare professional who would be sticking a needle in your body?
  21. As much as I would like to see Adam actually face consequences for a change, I genuinely hope the accusations against him aren't true. He's always been an irresponsible douche, but we've never known him to be a violent irresponsible douche, have we? That would open a whole new can of worms in terms of concerns about his children's safety. The driving thing is bad enough.
  22. I've always thought it was equally hilarious that we're supposed to believe 6'4'' John Corbett and 5'9" Lauren Graham somehow produced Mae Whitman. None of the Bravermans really look alike, but it sticks out more when it comes to height for some reason.
  23. I was actually surprised that Kristina didn't go off on Dylan and the boy she kissed. How sad is it that I totally expected Kristina to kick them out of school for daring not to accommodate Max. It was so odd that they didn't move the Joel/Julia story forward at all this week after the way the last episode ended. I know there are weird contractual issues this season, but this time it just felt ridiculous.
  24. I'm not leaning toward it being Crosby only because that would be a lot of heavy lifting for Joy Bryant. I definitely don't think she's a bad actress, but I also don't think she'd be the writers' go-to for the most dramatic storyline the show has ever had. It's anyone's guess though. I would be in favor of having a bus take someone out Mean Girls-style in the series finale. Just because.
  25. http://instagram.com/p/u1RC7sP0c3/ I just came across this photo. Does anyone else think they look like they're in a hospital? And it doesn't seem like Amber is the one hospitalized, so it's not for her to give birth.
