  1. Here is Dr. Now's office with a bigger than life photo of him.
  2. Overall an interesting episode and definitely a different feel from the others. It was obvious LB would be a success because of his size and mobility. Agreed, his height minimized his weight and he was in far better physical condition at the beginning than almost anyone we'd seen so far. The show's logical conclusion, LB begins to run again, was a surprising upper, even though it was expected. Best part of the episode by far was when they pulled into Dr. Now's office. I only saw it briefly but was there a giant sign with his name AND picture on it. If that was the case, my love of Dr. Now has reached ridiculous proportions.
  3. Can someone refresh my memory but wasn't there a finale dress that had dramatic parachute sleeves, similar to Anthony's. When the model was walking, it really looked like she was about to take flight. Taking nothing away from Anthony, which was a great design. It's just reminded me of that outfit.
  4. Rerun today. JJ really intensely dislike a plaintiff that she was going to grand the judgement to and then gives a list of what she thinks she is: "unladylike, unneighborly, foul mouthed, bad tempered...(to the son) what's so funny?" Son: "You just, like, named off all the things she is". Even JJ laughed. I'm sick at home with the flu so thanks JJ for cheering me up.
  5. I am getting a kick out of how Dr. Now is getting bitchier and bitchier. You could almost hear the laughter in his voice when he said Janine said she was bulimic. When Steven said he wasn't eating in the hospital, Dr. Now said "are you on a food strike?" Janine was actually quite nice to the some of the people who helped her but was not nice to those in Dr. Now's office or in the hospital. I agree that she nearly ran that guy down and it did show how she had no regard for anyone but herself. So many of these patients have animals that they obviously can't care for. And it's always cats or little dogs, things they think they can control with little work. And sadly, when there is an exceptionally irritating patient like Janine or Steven, your mind does come up with the terrible old joke "where is the cat? Did (s)he eat him".
  6. Two episodes in and PRAS has gotten rid of three designers I personally liked. I think Ari had more to offer than, say Merline, but when she said the judges didn't get what she was doing, you knew she would be going home. I also think Josh's was worse and far more trashy. He should have been paired with Merline so we could have had a really correct double elimination. I've liked Fabio in previous versions but he does sound like he's getting a bit sanctimonious. We usually see the contestants mellow out but he sounds like he could be getting too full of himself. Hope I'm wrong.
  7. An example of how careless the show can be came when Anne went around telling her team not to hold the knife with the index finger on top of the knife. She got some good visuals by drawing red on the offending index fingers. However, on the second challenge, both she and Tyler were using the index finger on top technique to filet the fish. I understand there's a reason but to make a big show about this technique only to simply forget about ten minutes later is worthy of "The Room" (I definitely have breast cancer).
  8. A very weird show because it looks like Food Network's pretense of a reality show is out the window and you're left to judge how well the performers are playing the characters they've created. I did think the "make the dish that got you here" was low comedy because everyone was trying too hard. However, Lily is freaking adorable. When she was fanning Tyler even the other contestants were laughing.
  9. Contrary opinion, but I thought Candice's looked like a drag queen's concept of Barbara Eden's costume in I Dream of Jeannie.
  10. I said it before but Amy is living proof that those who can, do, those who can't teach. I get her a lot after seeing the reunion. She's a middle aged teacher, not attractive, quite masculine and will almost certainly live the rest of her life teaching people like Claire and Shawn. She has no prospects of a design career so you can understand her bitterness.
  11. "We'll have to agree to disagree. To me, it's a matter of intent. Wendy came into the competition plotting to deceive from day one, and never deviated from that, even after people did befriend her and were genuinely happy for her Banana Republic win. This just wasn't the kind of competition where that was appropriate. Kara Saun had one bad day. Kara Saun handled the shoe-thing badly, but she didn't go into it intending to deceive anyone--she was far too open about where she got the shoes for that. Yes, she acted entitled when called on the shoes (and I don't think she should have been able to keep them without giving up something else), but that doesn't make her the season's villain, IMO, not compared to Wendy's deliberate deceit. YMMV.:" What behavior isn't appropriate for this type of competition? It's a TV show. At the end, there's a winner and many losers and the fact that Wendy Pepper still being discussed 15 seasons after her appearance definitely lends credence to her agenda. You may have hated her as a person but as a contestant she never deviated from the rules. Kara Saun wanted the win just as badly as anyone else and proved she was willing to cheat to do it. Remember she even had someone helping her in the studio, which even Jay complained about. Kara Saun showed that underneath the smiling morality was a cutthroat competitor who would do anything to win. I have nothing against that except when you can't cop to it and accuse other people of being underhanded, it makes you worse than a hypocrite. As for the shoes, she was not upfront and open at all. In fact, she was quite sneaky about it and when confronted, she lied and tried to cover it up. In that moment, she showed her own character. S16 made so much of the tape measure scandal. That's small potatoes next to having shoes custom made, trying to sneak them into your show and then faking receipts.
  12. If she thought she was on Survivor, she did a pretty good job because she finished third and she was not nearly the third best designer there. Her machinations DID help her win because she made it to fashion week, which was a big deal at the time. The villain of that season was Kara Saun, Remember how she came up with those custom ordered shoes from Dollhouse and when questioned about it, she miraculously came up with receipts that charged her about $5 a pair? Who was the one who called her on it? Yup, Wendy. Thinking about it, I pulled up her takedown of Kara Saun and it deserves to be quoted in its entirety. “I'm going to tell you that Jay and I shopping at the store for five-dollar shoes is hardly comparable to you custom-designing shoes and putting an arbitrary value of five dollars on something that looks like your shoes. I just heard you on the phone equate a shoe at a sample sale for five dollars to a shoe you custom-designed and had made to your specifications, and that, my dear, is not fair or above board, Miss Perfect. It just shows how you're so f*cking morally corrupt and you walk around saying other people are all f*cked up but you're perfect; but it's okay for you to fudge when it works to your advantage, but God help anybody if they fudge for their advantage.” A fascinating and incredible moment in Reality TV where the self appointed villain reveals herself to have played the game fairly and the Moral Authority was a cheating hypocrite with dirty hands.
  13. Here is Kentaro's model #9 on PR. Clearly plus sized and you can actually see her next to Liris.
  14. They are definitely plus size and I think at least two appeared on PR. Liris and Jazzmine carry their weight in their lower bodies, which is definitely different from the Caucasian plus size models and created a different illusion. Because the proportions are different, it makes the concept of a fitted piece more tricky. For years, African American women have been complaining that the fashion industry does not design for their body types and in this plus size season, you saw it exaggerated. If you were to put all the PR plus size models on a scale, I think the weight differences would be very slight. Both Liris and Jazzmine would have looked great in his white draped piece. If we're at the point of "she's more plus size than her", you know the show's concept has arrived. Kentaro did a great job in the nightgown challenge for Liris so he clearly didn't have a problem there. Liris reminds me of Star Jones, in looks and attitude.
  15. Watching the runway again, this time I was struck by how well integrated the plus size models were in Kentaro's show as opposed to the others. He had, I believe, only three, but he respected them so much and tailored them so correctly that it was hard to determine who the plus sizes were. The only obvious one was model #5 who was wearing his black pleated sheer skirt. She has very poor posture and her slouched upper body accentuated her weight and broadened her midsection. On the other hand, model #9 was wearing a slip dress that, for me, was a total win. Because it was an oversized garment, the possibility of it looking like a nightgown or a muu-muu was strong but the draping was so perfect that she looked Red Carpet ready. That is something I would have loved to see Liris wear.
  16. I remember S1's Wedding Challenge where the models were the clients. Jay said that the designers agreed that these models are zipped in and out of clothes all day long but they are clueless when it comes to fashion. Instead of aspiring towards Vogue or Elle, he said they were wanting to become Disney cartoons. The closer the designers stuck to the models' vision, the closer they were to the bottom. Remember Austin Scarlett's train, which resembled entrails? The two seasons or so of the Models spin off was enough. Personally, I don't need to hear their opinions on the designs. I do wish we were privy to how the models were paired with the designers. Christina was the only other model in the final group with a win yet she was paired with Kenya. If he had the choice, Kentaro absolutely would have chosen Meisha. I don't think Brandon would have ever chosen Liris. For Kentaro, being paired with Sanita was not a bad thing because her fair skin and coloring (the only light haired model remaining) was perfect for his peach pleat/origami gown. However, can you imagine Meisha rocking that final look of his, which would have been perfect for her coloring.
  17. Kentaro said in the EW interview that Tim didn't like his work so I also thought it was interesting that we saw so little of Tim congratulation him while watching the runway show. I think we can pretty much guarantee to hear Tim saying that Kentaro is a worse winner than Ashley. I saw these photos of Ayana's collection and while she used a lot of plus size models, her fashions made her models look heavy. There was an excess of fabric and design that was less about modesty.
  18. If anything, Brandon's sleeping during the finale was similar to Jeffrey Sebelia who was completely finished with his collection when he brought it to NY. So much so that he was outside smoking when everyone else was working and it caused Laura to accuse him of cheating by outsourcing his work.
  19. I felt the same way. I'm fairly literal so when designers, especially on PR talk about their collections telling a story, I never quite get it. This time I did because everything added to the odd, compelling quality of the presentation. The music set the stage and the fashion weirdly played off it. Even the initial silhouette behind the screen of the tulle dress made you want to see more. After all the monochrome, you suddenly see the blood red and it's a shock. His final look has the feel of finality. I thought it was wonderful, intriguing. Although some have complained, I think this was the best finale and season from PR in years. All four designers had very distinct viewpoints and all were well executed.
  20. People don't remember she was in the Peace Corps.
  21. Kentaro's interview in Entertainment Weekly. Overall, it's a scream. Kentaro weighs in on Brandon as well as the Twins (he liked them as people). He said he saw several people go home with tape measures around their necks. He felt that women can look at their clothes at the apartment but men can't so maybe everyone should be naked. Best observation: When he found out the winner got a trip to Japan, he said he preferred a trip to the Grand Canyon. http://ew.com/tv/2017/11/17/project-runway-season-16-winner/
  22. Yeah, and how successful were they? Something like reality TV is even worse because a decade between the end and start of a reboot is beyond a lifetime. We'll see what happens with AI, but ABC also tried to reboot The Gong Show" this year. There have been a few successful reboots, but do you think LIfetime or any other network is going to axe their #1 show because some people think the talent pool isn't as strong. That's a ridiculous argument as is because there are thousands of graduates of design school every year and it's rather a matter of which designers try out and which are chosen.
  23. S1 when Vanessa Riley tried to put Wendy Pepper in her place, she turned into the villain herself. In the clips, Amy sounded like a very stereotypical overworked teacher who should have retired years ago. The show is the highest rated show on Lifetime and is the highest rated non sports show on Thursday. Sarah and Tara should know that when you just stop a show, that's the end. It doesn't come back. Ten years...yeah, I can see that happening.
  24. Kentaro's Tulle dress is up. https://www.jcpenney.com/p/project-runway-season-finale-winner-tulle-pleated-maxi-skirt/ppr5007469569?pTmplType=regular&catId=cat100630341&deptId=dept20023450025&urlState=/g/project-runway-juniors-skirts/N-1b0zt0pD1nwuv9Z1z0llxt&badge=new
  25. As we've seen from reunion shows, when someone comes on to try to settle a score, they always come off looking bad. Amy sounds really bad already.
