  1. I have never seen anyone charge a phone in a doctor's waiting room. I'm not even sure where to look for outlets in any we visit. I have seen a charging station in a hospital ER though and that I can understand. Unplugging medical equipment anywhere to plug in a phone is beyond rude and narcissistic. Yes, the portable batteries are great and keep people from being such pains to the rest of the world.
  2. Who charges their phone in a medical waiting room? We've found a new level of entitlement. I'm glad we have holidays during Joy Anna's pregnancy or I fear it would seem as long as Jill's. I've developed a new appreciation for people who wait until close to five months to make a public announcement.
  3. Derick picked on a particular person who has a show on the same network. That's a big difference from a general my religious belief is opposed to xyz.
  4. St Pete is on the west coast as well. It's near Tampa. :)
  5. Aren't Jen's parents near Pensacola in response to a prior post about them not being on the gulf coast. I finally watched this episode today and found the picking up toys to not be nearly as disturbing as I'd expected. Yes, the kids could have been more expeditious, but they seemed fairly right on where I have pegged their developmental levels. Jen didn't seem quite as chatty as I'd expected as they seemed to have edited the scene down from a longer period of time. I thought Bill handled the grocery shopping fairly well and that bodes well for them realizing that they needed a bit of a course correction. The kids do seem to be attending parochial school based on their grace learned at school and I expect they are placed by their achievement level rather than age.
  6. Mama June's second show wasn't on TLC. It was on a different network, WE I think. I noticed the won't "feature" Derick wording also. I think it means they can show Jill doing things and doing talking heads and if Derick happens to be caught in the frame with Jill and the kids they'll let it through.
  7. Once again, I'll say it all depends on the contracts. TLC does love to pay by the family or the family entertainment LLC. That dumps the distribution back onto family corporate entity. Also Counting On has entered the "option phase" of the contract. That means when an option period, either year or season depending on the contract, is up either side can try to change things for the next option period. TLC could then easily just not continue a person or a family group at that time.
  8. Thank you! We decided after the fact that they had done us a favor. As you said there can be quite a wait for services even if approved and we ended up at a university clinic where the service was excellent and there was no waiting list. Our child also has synesthesia which was a bit of a zebra and resulted in our not having to pay anything since it fell under a research grant. While the therapy was provided by a couple of graduate students they were interested, well trained, and well supervised.
  9. I understand and appreciate the interest, but it isn't something I want to discuss here. :)
  10. The Duggars are in AR not CA and the resources in AR are limited. I do have friends who have been through the process in AR and are continuing to have difficulties. Since Josie attends only Duggar Academy, the CA in-school process isn't the model they would be following. What they would face is similar to what you seem to recognize a bit in your last paragraph. I so often see people think the Duggars have only to request therapy and it will fall in their laps when at least what I've been told by parents in AR is not what happens. Also for whatever it's worth, I had a seven year old who couldn't pronounce several sounds correctly and that child was denied speech therapy at school because the problem was "not severe enough." Fortunately, we were able to enroll the child in an alternate program.
  11. Josie had some kind of therapy when she was younger. Michelle briefly mentioned it in passing in perhaps an interview. They chose not to show it on TV or the therapist did not want to be filmed. To get therapy through the school district the child is evaluated and must be sufficiently below standards to qualify.
  12. I don't track The Seven Little Johnsons as I can't tolerate that show. The viewership is fairly in the middle for a TLC show that has been on as long as The Little Couple. The ratings are similar to the Duggar non-wedding shows except The Little Couple skews a bit older.
  13. Alyssa has 6 pounders and so far has carried small. I won't be surprised if Joy Anna's newborn is twice the size of Alyssa's.
  14. Some of the behavior could be due to the problems of filming. They have to wait while the lighting and all gets set up and then do the prescribed activity possibly multiple times. They are fed lines and have to keep their clothes clean and the same in case of retakes. Some kids take to becoming "performing monkeys" and others do not. I don't think all the issues we see are due to filming, but I do think filming is detrimental to the children for the above reasons plus the issues with so many people seeing the footage. They have filmed more real events that were still crafted for the show than some other families. That they were real events doesn't mean they weren't stage managed or even re-enacted. From the Gosselins and the reason Kate wigged out about the clothes on an episode was the "leaving for the day" was actually filmed on the third day that it took to film their "one day" at a special place.
  15. Ratings: 1.193 M viewers and a .22 rating.
  16. It probably won't make you feel any better, but it pretty much happens to all the family reality show participants if they stay on the air long enough. Eventually the comfort level with the production team, the getting so used to being filmed, plus the inability to keep up an "act" and the warts begin to show and the novelty begins to wear off with viewers. The tide begins to turn from isn't he/she so great and wonderful to how on earth can they do THAT?
  17. No, just spoiled, stubborn, and no self-control. She couldn't be bothered to listen to anyone who told her she was eating too much. Hm, does that sound a little Duggarish?
  18. I don't know. Joy looks like my SIL who gained about 90 pounds in her pregnancy and had her nearly 12 pound son by C-section.
  19. 5.5 months along - she's progressing proportionally. She looks to me like she's gained quite a bit of weight. I won't be surprised if she gains 60 to 80 pounds this pregnancy. She may be the one to produce 10 to 12 pound newborns.
  20. Thematic approaches are probably the opposite of "Bible based" where church history, marriage, parenting, salvation, advent, etc could be sermon material for a series of sermons and would surely be approached with the Bible and Bible passages in mind, but would not be taken solely from say Psalm 1:1.
  21. Being producers gives them some credit, some extra money, but does not usually give them total say in what gets aired. We'd have to read their contracts to know that. The network and the executive producer get final say normally.
  22. I think that range is a perfectly reasonable due date. She began eating for two it seems before she even confirmed the pregnancy. Hopefully she'll learn like Jessa did that a little restraint in subsequent pregnancies can make for an easier pregnancy and delivery for most people.
  23. I truly hope that Joy Anna does not deliver before February 16. March 1 would be even better.
