American Idol Past Contestants: What Are They Up To Now?
SunFun replied to tribeca's topic in American Idol
Newest (third) commercial featuring Justin Guarini as Lil Sweet for Diet Dr. Pepper campaign. Funny with a dash of kooky. Also, Guarini has an EP coming out in a few months. Not sure of date. -
I LOVED that so much. The guests were wonderful, their comments meaningful and on target. I wanted to squeeze the Priest when he so perfectly answered Candace's provocative question about a "war on prayer" during the discussion about the NYDN cover.

Wow, two of us coming up w/ repulsed/repulsive for Whoopi at the same time. It's THAT obvious.
-
Passive aggressiveness at it's finest. However, Joy better get that moderator chair when Whoopi implodes. Random thoughts: -Whoopi was either off her meds or overly medicated today. She was back to being frenzied and LOUD. Joy even noticed and made a comment. Ever so nicely. -Love how everyone is conveniently ignoring that a few days ago Miss Candice said she was probably voting for Trump. -Drives me crazy that the Planned Parenthood falsehoods manufactured by the Right go uncorrected... and that GOP's many skillful lies become "truth" to the faithful followers being purposely played. I use to really like Whoopi, wanted to see her work, rooted for her. That Whoopi doesn't exist any more. I watched her closely today, imagining she wasn't THE Whoopi Goldberg. Conclusion: Without the fame and prior history of accomplishments, many meeting her for the first time would be unimpressed, some even repulsed.

I'm with you. I wanted to like this show, have admired Viola Davis, so I went into it with great expectations. However, I keep rolling my eyes while watching, and laughing when I'm supposed to be awestruck by the "drama". It's too much, with even more too much piled on top. Not my thing. Bye HTGAWM.

Peggy vs Dodd. The first, last, and only time I've been for Peggy. Laughed/cheered/applauded. I love this show.

From an intelligent informative Richard Clark (yesterday) to an insufferable dope like Nene Lekes (today), the gigantic swing in guest-quality broke the pendulum. From Joy as moderator (yesterday) to Whoopi as moderator (any other day)? Just plain better all around with Joy.

My choice came down to least offensive. Edmond, who at least made wearable clothing. The ruffled items didn't bother me, not for a runway show. I can think of at least two past winners who had some ruffle-like flurries in their collections, so I didn't get the big deal made over his. LOVE his personality, too. Candice's was mostly scary, yet boring. Made me think of Elvira. Kelly's was a tacky, glittered, fanny-packed 70s flashback nightmare. Liked one dress, but underlining cut too short. Ashley's was a poorly-made parade of pastel sherbet w/ fairly unfeasible styles/styling.

Saw a promotion on TV today for a reality show with Kellie Pickler and her husband. I think on a CMT. -
Preach it. The panel's burka discussion was really unforgiveable. Annoyed the hell out of me, but also really made me sad.
-
THAT. I wanted so much to like this show, but it's too convoluted, and everyone's despicable. Much like 'Scandal' which I grew to hate and stopped watching
-
Agree. Edmond will be saved. Glad. As a whole. I didn't care for any of the designers' offerings, but only HATED Ed's. He lost his mojo big time on this one.
-
Tim was never shown telling him to pack and leave. Bet they show Tim saving him at the beginning of the next episode. He owes him for encouraging Edmond to use that sequin fabric. As for the previews showing no Edmond. Editing. In other news, WTH was Ed thinking with that horrible dress? Red Carpet, Ed, not Hooker Highway.

Forgot about PONTUS! That was knee-slappin' funny. And, ditto on the Joy love.

Seriously, a Snookie sex-act conversation stretched out to an intolerable length, then brought up again w/ a guest? Everybody to their room w/out dinner. Love Alan Alda, what a contrast to Coulter. Lots of wasted time today, but still prefer Joy over Whoopi. Surprised Joy seemed not to realize Cosby Show taken off air due to scandal, unlike other shows off the air. MJW seemed taken aback by her comment, too. Raven Raven Raven. Nice set-up for a Coulter slap-down.

Pickler s/b a great talk show co-host. She's naturally funny, very likeable. I adored her personality on DWTS. Plus, I love for good things to happen for people who persevere tough times (as her childhood) w/ such positivity. When you think about it, several AI Alum doing well, if not always getting noted. Edited to add another Alum example. Justin Guarini is coming out w/ new original music. The video explaining his decision is sweet and shows his kids. I'm definitely curious, so I pre-ordered. http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/justinguarini -
Laughed so hard, I choked on my carrot stick. I wondered if 'The View' might kill me some day, but not by a carrot stick.

Without looking it all up, I know Caldwell worked in television for several years, mostly TVG Network, hosting shows and live events like the Grammys. I think she released two albums, and I've seen her perform on talk shows. Sounded really good. She's actually had a pretty good run. Anyway, congrats on baby and happy marriage. Underneath that boisterous personality seemed to be a genuinely kind soul. Also congrats to Cook, if true. Good guy. -
Jaw dropping. The man's an idiot and an asshole. Or an idiot savant only capable of one skill set... doctor. I thought him belligerent during the interview today. Possibly even patronizing to the women. Sorry, arrogance paired with societal ignorance won't cut it. Something else I think he said today when talking about teachers being trained to use a gun was that they also be trained in tactical maneuvers or diversionary tactics... any one know exact quote? Anyway, it sounded like military training. WTH? These are teachers, knothead! Not to mention, that is NOT the kind of society we want. I refuse. Also, Whoopi was back to empty pontificating today. Ugh. In any case, the last 2 days have created for some good discussion here about issues other than how the show/hosts suck. Fun to read.

If in or near NYC tonight, consider going to this event for fun w/ celebrity Broadway stars and for a good cause...Random Acts Org.. Event hosted and co-produced by Justin Guarini. http://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Justin-Guarini-Deborah-Cox-Alex-Brightman-Tony-Vincent-and-More-Set-for-Tonights-CELEBRITY-KARAOKE-20151005 -
Love this show. Makes Sunday a must-view TV night for me. I ate up everything they fed me tonight. Russell is a class-A jerk for feeling entitled to bully Elizabeth. He reeked of resentment and jealousy in this episode. I think he represented some men's barely disguised resistance to losing male societal dominance. Not that he's self-aware enough to realize it. Elizabeth handled him with calm confidence. The addle-minded Senator should NOT have been a surprise to anyone. Yet, there have certainly been plenty of them in real life who keep their jobs.

So true. Not to mention the judge would also know.

- I think the last Corey Clark link was the initial report, not current status of his situation. - As for Carrie Underwood's album cover, I think she looks incredible and appropriately sexy. -FYI: In addition to the initial six shows cancelled by Kelly Clarkson, the rest of the tour was also recently cancelled. Same reason, vocal rest. http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/kelly-clarkson-cancels-all-remaining-2015-tour-dates-20150930 -
Best addition ever... Jane Curtin's amusingly befuddled judge. Coneheads rule. Here Jane, a made-up Emmy category just for you. All the new cast appealed to me, all proven actors, too. I LOVE a revenge-seeking Eli plotline. His nemesis was great on "The Americans". S/b interesting. Lockhart/Gardner was depressing. Which was the idea I suppose. If so, it worked. However, I do think it gutsy when a show takes a drastic turn away from the norm. Just don't keep it there. Please. Also appreciated the very clear contrast shown of how the justice system is doled out for those with less means. What a mess. Peter is still a dick. Some things don't change. I'm in. *Curtin not Curtain. Got it, M.

That. Also, I hate the new craze of obscenely-priced weddings. What an extravaganza has to do with being united-by-love escapes me. Such warped priorities also leads to tacky people tackily asking to be reimbursed for an uneaten meal. Still hanging with the show. It has improved. Hell, even Whoopi. And today, even Michele. As inane and off-center as the discussions can be, at least sometimes there's a nugget to be found now. I actually think there's hope.
