  1. I think it would have been smarter not to do anything at all connected with the Presidency during an election year. It's too easy to make a misstep when the election is so fresh and people are still worked up about it, and these writers don't have the greatest track record of even recognizing potential missteps.
  2. When Dean told Sam “It’s not like we’re in the ‘live ‘til you’re 90, die in your sleep’ business. This only ends one way.” I kind of had to laugh. How many times has it ended that 'one way' only for them to pop back up again? I enjoyed the episode a lot. I liked seeing Asa Fox's introduction as a young boy, and the quick montage of scenes that let us see him grow up and become an effective hunter. I wonder if tying that first victim in the house to the ceiling was a direct stab at the Winchesters? My favorite part was probably when they showed up at Jody's house, and the banter thereafter. That just felt incredibly natural, and it made me feel good that they had a place where they could just drop in and be certain of a welcome.
  3. One definite plus for me - this was the second episode in a row that was just Sam and Dean; no Crowley or Castiel.
  4. I thought maybe they were implying that the talk-a-mile-a-minute girl's blood had had an impact on Hitler's personality. Otherwise, no idea.
  5. I don't see it that way, but it's all good.
  6. I agree they argued over who was right. My point was simply that Sam didn't say anything in this conversation that would indicate he was worried about Dean shooting her without investigating whether she was actually guilty. He didn't even suggest that Dean should question her first, which to me meant that he just took it for granted that he would.
  7. Yet in this instance, Sam didn't seem to have any qualms at all about letting Dean go after Beth alone. He seemed to trust Dean not to do anything stupid.
  8. And . . . getting away from the whole Hitler comparison . . . If that's the case, I'd say we can kiss Garth goodbye. I'm okay with the Winchesters trying to protect the bits of supernatural that don't do harm. I think it shows growth from the beginning of the series where the assumption was almost always that the creature (whatever it was) needed to be killed, and the discussion was mostly about the best way to do that. I expect there will still be plenty of things they kill for good reasons, though, so it's not like they are changing from soldiers to pacifists or something.
  9. If she does come back, I sincerely hope that it's not another case of Sam just overlooking everything she's done to him personally, and accepting her as a part of the team.
  10. If we're going to talk about streaks, can we please not tie Sam to a chair again anytime soon? This is 3 out of 4 weeks. When they were talking at the Impala's trunk after the father kicked them out, Sam reached for an EMF reader and Dean reached for a gun. When they discussed their opinions of who/what was responsible, I'm pretty sure Sam said that Magda would have every reason to be an angry spirit and they needed to burn her. I could be remembering it wrong, though.
  11. I do wonder how the family convinced social services that Magda was dead. I would have thought they would have to produce a body. Just an idle thought.
  12. Admittedly, Dean went prepared to kill her, but it wasn't like he just walked in and went bang! He took the time to question her and verify that she was (or as it turned out, wasn't) benefiting from her boss's death and wouldn't have wanted her dead. (I personally think it would have freaked me out if he had shown up looming outside my door in an apparently deserted office.) I'm guessing that when she asked why he was there, and he had already decided not to kill her, his plan B was to flirt, which led her to giving him her phone number later. I have no idea why it took him so long to reach Sam, but I was glad he didn't get there in time to save him. Bad enough Sam got tied up to a chair again (!), but I don't want his big brother to have to save him every single time. I think it was actually a 3-bar aluminum gate. I've tried to climb over them myself and they wiggle. It's not so easy. Of course, there was the option to go around . . .
  13. Good job, Davy Perez! I think I'm going to be glad you've joined the writing crew. I liked it a lot. I thought it was original and since, like Jediknight, I thought it was Magda's ghost, finding her alive was a good twist. I also really liked the way they stuck to the main story, instead of bouncing around between Sam and Dean, Crowley and Castiel (and Rowena), and whoever Lucifer is currently inhabiting. They did a good job casting Magda and her family as well. I was a little surprised that Dean reached out to his mother. I could see Sam doing it easier, but overall I thought they handled Mary's departure reasonably well. It obviously had a impact on Dean, but they didn't wallow in it. My only quibble, which is minor, is that I wish when shows have environments that include horses, they wouldn't have them whinny all the time. I know they're doing it just to remind you that it's taking place in a rural area, but it's annoying. They just don't do that.
  14. This is one that it would sort of make sense for the BMOL to be involved. Guess they're sitting it out, like they did the apocalypse. Lazy bums.
  15. I bet the way Sam and Dean looked at each other after everything she said got on her nerves too. They've been hunting together so long, there's not really a lot of room for a third partner, especially since they seem to be judging every suggestion she makes and pointing out how things have moved along since she's been gone.
  16. I think a lot of people are just watching on DVRs when it's more convenient, or after their preferred show in that timeslot is over. I wish we could get the live+3 or live+7 numbers for these last two episodes.
  17. I'm betting the bike belongs to one of the BMOL people. I would be surprised if they didn't keep an eye on what the Winchesters were up to after they let them go. I do agree it's not Mr. Ketch; for some reason, the little bit we saw didn't give a motorcyclist vibe to me. But I bet whoever it is gives themselves away in the near future (before we've had a chance to forget about the motorcycle), and whoever it is will be riding that bike.
  18. I hadn't caught that either. Good job! Any ideas about the significance of the title? I looked up 'Foundry' and it's defined as a factory that produces metal castings. In 'The Road So Far' part, as part of her persuasion, it showed the dead girlfriend telling Vince that they could heal his sister. That part actually wasn't in Mamma Mia; I guess nobody told last week's director/editor that it was going to matter in this episode. I really liked Rick Springfield as Lucifer, which surprised me. He's a much better actor than I would have given him credit for. It did seem weird that Lucifer would trust Rowena to do a spell on him, when he was still threatening to kill her. Seems rather gullible. On the other hand, they did ask Castiel where he was going at the beginning of this episode. Kate, Claire, Krissy etc aren't part of their family; they haven't got the same obligation or ties as they do to Mary. It just seemed strange to me that they'd let her walk out the door without making sure she would at least be able to feed herself and find a safe place to stay. I'd have nightmares wondering if she was sleeping on the street somewhere. And since she's already shown herself to be open to taking hunts, and she has the journal for information, that would add another layer to my concern.
  19. I can't believe that neither one of them asked where she was going. Or how she was going to get there. Or how she was going to afford to eat. Or made sure she had a phone with their numbers. She doesn't exactly have current life skills.
  20. I had a couple idle thoughts on rewatch. Rowena's paralyzing spell only seemed to work on parts of Lucifer, he could still easily move his head and shoulders. Convenient since playing the character convincingly would've been a lot harder if he couldn't have moved at all. If Lady Whosit truly knew about the Winchester brothers, I think she would have handled things differently when she caught Dean and put him in chains. Sam was already hurt, which is something that Dean typically doesn't handle very well. If she had made him watch while she continued to torture his brother, I think he would have been more likely to give up some information to make it stop. Presumably, he has the same knowledge that Sam does. Beating on him while continuing to question Sam wasn't likely to be as effective since she'd be starting fresh with a new victim, and Sam isn't quite as protective (?) of Dean. I'm not sure that's really the right word, but I can't come up with a better one at the moment.
  21. Was there ever any information about how Episode 12-2 did Live + 3 (or any other measure of the impact that those who watched via DVR had on the ratings)?
  22. Jensen said it was something that Sam would have to fix. I doubt if it's a major part of the storyline; he doesn't usually give too much away.
  23. I wouldn't expect Sam to bring it up, but considering that Dean's focus is usually on keeping him safe and healthy, and the fact that the first time his mother sees him, he's beat all to hell, I did sort of expect one of them to say something, even if it was just a passing comment like 'Wow, you look a lot better since Cas laid the healing hands on you'. I know it's kind of impractical for them to take weeks of show time to let wounds heal realistically. I think other than Jared's broken hand and shoulder, which were actually damaged in real life, probably the longest a physical injury has been allowed to hang around is one episode after it happens, and usually not even that. But having Cas around to magically heal their injuries kind of invalidates them, which I'm not really fond of. There should be consequences to the battles they fight, and having Cas instantly hand-wave them away annoys me. Sorry, I'm not explaining that well, I know. Just my opinion, anyway.
  24. No argument on this. But actually, they pretty much dismissed everything Sam went through. As far as I can recall, nothing was ever said about his injuries or pain, what she did to him, how he felt thinking Dean was dead, nothing. It was like none of it ever happened. Instead, they just shove all that under the rug so they can get to the scene with Dean greedily eating pie and Mary announcing she doesn't cook. Somebody's priorities are skewed as far as I'm concerned.
