I'm sure he did.

And Sam's kicked out of shotgun and put in the back seat? Huh.
-
Wouldn't be the first time. He was expected to work with Lucifer last year, and even to help rescue the guy, and apparently had no problem with it, despite having even more history with him. I can only assume that Sam is very good at compartmentalizing.

I could wish that Dabb hadn't called it romance.
-
And there was Andrew Dabb's comment on twitter before the episode: "Tonight on #Supernatural rock, romance, and reunions. Tune in!" Hopefully he was being ironic or something about the romance.

Good point, Bessie. I guess they figured that since it didn't really happen, it didn't really count. I've always appreciated the fact that the show hasn't often found excuses to show Sam and Dean shirtless (or altogether unclothed), and I think that Jared or Jensen once made a comment acknowledging that. To my mind, it shows a respect for the characters and actors, not to just turn them into eye candy. I hope this was a one-off, and that that doesn't change.

Yes, but Mary hasn't. They take the time to show her being surprised by computers and their capabilities. I would think that an angel's ability to basically give them a 'get out of jail' free card from any injury would be worthy of at least a lifted eyebrow. I really liked Sam's expression when Dean was pushed down the stairs. At first he is gobsmacked by Dean's appearance, but right before they cut to a commercial break, he looked like he thought he was going nuts. Which when you consider the hallucinations he was having shortly before that, and his history of seeing things that aren't there, I'd have to think he was at least considering the possibility that Dean was also a hallucination. It was just a beat, and I'm glad they didn't hammer on it, but it was a nice touch.

It's very confusing which powers Castiel still has and which one he doesn't. Apparently he can heal people? You'd think they would have at least acknowledged it.

I think it's interesting that Dean took Mary at face value; no testing to see if she was a shapeshifter or anything.
-
If she did run into Sam during his soulless days, and didn't realize that he wasn't 100% there, would she necessarily know the difference now? It might explain her total lack of compassion for him. I doubt that's the line the story will take, but sort of interesting to consider.

I liked the music at the end. I thought it fit the mood pretty well. The music accompanying the montage at the beginning didn't do anything for me.

I personally liked the way they had Mary win that fight. It had nothing to do with any super fighting skills, or toughness, or even cleverness - she just happened to wake up with the woman's back to her and an angel blade within reach. That didn't make her a better fighter than Dean or Castiel, just a luckier one. I would've had a problem if Mary had beaten her on a level playing field when Dean couldn't.

I think I missed something - how did they know that veterinarian had anything to do with anything?

Thanks to whoever flipped it!

I think that might drive me crazy :) The whole time I was watching that, I was just wishing somebody could reverse it. Sometimes 'concept' stuff is just too much work for me.

There is also the consideration that Sam and Dean have hunted together for a very long time, and probably can anticipate each other's moves without needing to talk about it. You bring a third person into that mix, regardless of who it is, and it's going to upset the balance to some degree. They've done it before, but usually the two of them are doing their thing while the third person is working solo (like Charlie in Dick's office building trying to flirt with the guard), or it's someone else working with only one of them (Garth and Dean, for example).
-
It seems like the only way they can bring women into the show on a long term basis is if they are unavailable for romance (Charlie), the big bad (Amara, Abaddon, the Mother of All), or related (Mary). I'm glad we at least have a few like Jody who appear occasionally without dying, even if they aren't regulars.

If saving Mary also includes saving a bunch of other people, then perhaps I could see him going that route. But I was thinking more along the lines of Dean having to chose just between Sam and Mary, without any other lives resting on the outcome. In that situation, my money is on saving Sam, because even though they say codependency is a bad thing, they go back to it over and over.

I hope not, Sue! It seems to me that at this point Mary is a stranger to him. He doesn't have a relationship with her (yet, at least), so how can the sentimental notion that she's his mother trump the brother he went to hell for? I don't see it, but as you say, the writers may prove me wrong.

And they didn't know that Dean was (supposedly) dead, so they sent Lady Ladida after TWO extremely capable and large men wearing those pumps. She must be one tough cookie.

Or C) At the instant she fired the gun, Sam was zapped off to join Dean and his Mom. All we heard was the sound of a bullet or something metallic hitting the floor; I didn't hear anything that would make me think Sam was actually hit. It occurs to me that God's visit would have been a great opportunity for the writers to tweak Castiel so that he could hang out with Sam and Dean without excuses constantly having to be made for why he isn't helping or involved. All God had to say was "You've used a lot of questionable judgement, so your angelhood is revoked. Enjoy being human." The character is popular, but there's really no place for him in the story.

My personal hope is that whatever the hell her name is, she's forced to become comfortable/adept in Sam and Dean's world. I have absolutely no interest in seeing them play country bumpkins as they try to navigate high society in the form of the British MoL, but after Bloodlines, I'm scared that's the direction they're going. I've always liked the fact that the two main characters are flannel shirts/jeans guys with no pretensions.
-
I hope not. We've already seen that story played out with angels and demons. I'm fine with them being anti-Winchester, but I hope the conflict is for much more personal reasons rather than another potentially huge disaster that affects the world.

Now that the 'traditional' MoL know about Sam and Dean hanging out in the bunker, does that mean they will lose it as a home? Although miles vary, I've always really liked that set and would be sad to see it go. (This assumes that whatshername didn't kill Sam, nor succeed in bringing him in.)
