The Lonely Js Club: Jana, Jason, James, Jackson & Johannah
Turquoise replied to SpaghettiTuesdays's topic in Counting On
I live in a state with a Vienna and a Cairo...neither one pronounced the way it should be (Vie-anna and Karo (like the syrup) respectively). I guess mispronunciation is a fairly common phenomenon, not that I'm a fan of it. Topic: I watched part of the Rome video. A few observations: James walking around filming is every tourist that runs over someone else because they're too busy with their selfie stick instead of watching where they're going. Encountered several of those at Edinburgh Castle. Most of the part I saw Jed! and Katey were taking care of the baby themselves. That was refreshing. At a store window: "Oh look-clams! (they were oysters) He complains at one point it's hard finding places to eat. I haven't been to Italy yet, but I would think there would be a overabundance of places to eat in Rome? Perhaps he meant something the whole group would agree on, and phrased it badly? -
In the last day she has posted about going to the beach, going to dinner with Nurie and a couple Nots, and going to the Valentine banquet at Nurie's church, and never once mentioned any of this? I have had three miscarriages, and don't wish that on anyone. But when I was having mine I wasn't doing all these activities and posing for pictures.

It's fairly common in churches that don't do infant baptisms. A ceremony to acknowledge new babies in the congregation. The parents bring them up front, the parents declare they will raise the child in church, a prayer is said. I don't know if parties are generally thrown after. I was raised a heathen Catholic, where baptism parties are a thing.

You know, the driving wasn't as hard as we thought it might be. The steering wheel on the right does help, it's the same concept as here, driver is to the inside of the road. Occasionally I had to remind Mr. Turquoise "Wide right!" LOL. I enjoyed how many out-of-the-way things we saw, in every country. I have terrible lifelong motion sickness so the worst for me was the ferry from Wales to Ireland, we traveled through a storm. Miserable. Will make sure I have extra behind the ear patches for our next adventure.

We road tripped around the UK & Ireland for our honeymoon 3 1/2 years ago. While I enjoyed what I saw in London, my preference was for the smaller cities & villages we went through. Probably just me. We stayed in a BnB in Vauxhall, and I did enjoy the ease of being able to walk to Westminster, etc. We do need to make a trip back because we covered a lot of area, but didn't get to spend a large amount of time in any one place. Would like to pick a smaller radius and soak it in a bit more.

Carlin and Evan: But Mostly Carlin!

I was assuming Janelle would have Axel & Evie. I was at the birth of my first grand, but after that I had charge of the others while son & DIL went to the hospital (plus there were COVID rules...) But the other...can't make an excuse for that one.

I think "I'm sorry" always works. I think generally people mean well. My brother committed suicide almost 10 years ago, and there were (are) a couple things people say that get to me. I was shocked at the amount of people who feel entitled to know which method he used (they aren't). If you weren't close to him and aren't close to me, the fact that he felt desperate enough to end his life is quite enough. The other one is people to this day still ask couldn't we see something was wrong. I had cancer 5 years ago. Not one person approached my parents and asked why they couldn't see ahead of time I had cancer. Illness is illness. Trust me, we all went over every interaction with a fine-tooth comb looking for something we missed. Concern is great and much appreciated, satisfying your curiosity is not. I will always be protective of my little brother.

I assume I'm looking at this correctly (I don't see any motion, so going with Nemo wasn't climbing up)...so Nemo falls asleep hanging half off the couch, and everything thinks it's adorable and photographs it instead of moving him to a safe place to sleep? Any pictures I have ever seen of a parent/child sleeping, the parent is holding the child. Why am I surprised yet totally not surprised by this picture??

I managed to get a Christmas cold...side effect of having grandchildren that are toddlers and early elementary school. They're completely worth it. Symptoms didn't start until early on the 26th, after all festivities were past. I am mending, and our snow is melting, which makes my dog very happy. He has a narrow window of weather conditions he enjoys. 🤣

My Chihuahua was most unhappy with the cold and snow this morning, but he is also the same creature who is a nightmare to try and get in a sweater. He is remarkably efficient getting his business done in bad weather. We maybe got two inches of snow, but it is bitterly cold.

I think "yes" covers it

Yes, this was on her Facebook. All even slightly negative comments are now gone. Only the ones telling her how AMAZING she is remain. I did see a couple comments on her Plexus post saying she was doing a great job teaching the kids. She must have seen some comments about how poorly educated they are.
