  1. Her post-show interview with Michelle Visage, Anne Frank was her original idea the producers slapped down.
  2. Personally, given Trixie was going to do Rupaul for Snatch Game I doubt she would have done well. Probably not crashing and burning. But the top four of the Snatch Game this season were all fairly strong and very realized. I have severe doubts about Trixie's ability to do the same with Rupaul, who is a hard choice to begin with and really requires quickfire wit, which IMO seemed to be missing from Trixie's toolbox. Honestly with what i've seen of Trixie off the show on Youtube, she's not really as comedically talented as she claims, but then drag comedy trends towards the extremely edgy and she seems very stuck on a 'pure as driven '50s snow' kind of character.
  3. My bet would be on Kennedy or Katya next. I love Katya, but it's a look challenge and they've often been stank about her low budget style.
  4. My hope: Ginger, Katya, Kennedy for a group of talented performers who have overall done well throughout the competition. More likely: Ginger, Kennedy or Trixie, Violet... which I would be fine with(Violet has mostly underperformed, but she at least tries and could be a tremendous drag queen in a few years if she comes out of her shell). Dread: Pearl, because Pearl has underperformed throughout the season and is, along with Fame and Serena ChaCha, one of the overall weakest contestants the show has ever had. But ultimately the season is Ginger's to win. As in there really is no chance she isn't winning it.
  5. I think it also causes the weird thing this season of a lot of queens being much more interesting people out of drag than in. Just off the top of my head you have Trixie, Max, Pearl, Violet, Fame and Tempest.
  6. I think it's a basic problem of casting for good looks out of drag rather than casting for a wide net of different styles and personas of drag. Drag isn't modeling so pulling primarily from the beautiful doesn't mean you're going to get the best. I'd also say a lot of bad challenge design. The Glamazon Airways and the Ru Hollywood Stories are the only two challenges that i'd say range above the standard of the specific type of challenge they're doing, most of them have ranged much, much below. Shakesqueer probably being the worst. And ultimately, Spoof! and the Snatch Game are the only challenges that have really let them flex their creative muscles. Oh and just awful lip sync song choices, only two have been even passable and the rest are pretty much the worst of the show.
  7. I kind of wish the older queens this season had been in season six and the younger queens last season were in this one. Because the older, more skilled queens this season really don't feel like they have much in the way of competition here and the younger queens are just belly flopping and bigger personalities like Adore, Joslyn, Laganja and Gia would be much welcomed to liven them up. I feel kind of bad for Fame in that usually if you're not that great at anything on the show but make it this far, you get something to show for it anyway. Alyssa Edwards killed her lip syncs and was ridiculously quotable, Laganja was one of the more memorable characters of a memorable season, Trinity got to crawl out of her shell and be funny for two episodes and killed at her lip syncs, etc. Fame pretty much peaked in the initial Spring/Fall runway mini-challenge and then never really got a chance to shine.
  8. It's sad that in a season of bad song choices and mediocre lip syncs, probably the best choice for a lip sync song was wasted on the weakest lip sync.
  9. I'd also put good money on her taking on the role of Quaithe as well, since at this point in the books Quaithe is a reoccuring character in Dany's storyline, but the show pretty much forgot about Quaithe seasons ago.
  10. I think the entire point of the exercise was to bring Trixie back. You're not going to bring Max back, he just went, you're not going to bring MKD back, he's old and this season is all about the younguns, and the rest were filler.
  11. I'd say I found her the worst, or second worst, in at least the Snatch Game, Glamazon Airlines, Spoof video, DESPY Awards and Ru Hollywood Stories. I didn't think she was this episode(though she was the third worst, which isn't much of a improvement). The Snatch Game is the one that's really noticable about it, since even Michelle agree's Jaidynn's schtick as Raven was funny at first, compared to Miss Fame's Donatello which was a bomb from start to finish.
  12. Eh, I find Kennedy's win here(and in the old lady challenge) completely in keeping with Rupaul's sense of humor, since Rupaul is the one sole chooser there. Rupaul really likes off color ghetto racial, especially black, humor. A black queen putting on a giant ghetto booty or covering herself in powder to look ashy is absolutely how you win Ru over. It's a consistent winner in any challenge, mini or main, where the goal is 'these monkeys have to make Ru laugh'.
  13. I would say the main way show Cersei is more well rounded isn't in being a better person, she's still a horrible person, but that she actually is a quick witted and fairly sharp person who knows what she is doing and is willing to fight for what she wants. Comparable book Cersei after appearing like that in Ned's chapters in the first book, just gets increasingly revealed as stupid, incapable, outright crazy and basically a shrieking paranoid harpy with her own chapters basically play ultimate unreliable narrator by putting you in the head of someone too stupid to realize every maneuver around her. Oh and in the show she doesn't primarily get her way by fucking whatever guy she currently needs.
  14. I would probably put Katya more as the underdog this season(Jaidynn moreso before she got booted this episode). Like Dida Ritz, Joslyn Fox and Tatiana she's a much more budget level queen who came in with a lot of personality and what she could afford or could make on her own. Miss Fame I wouldn't really call a underdog because a underdog usually manages to push themselves through the competition, they aren't given a free pass.
  15. Youtube celebrity. Unfortunately unlike Adore and Courtney, who were good performers and drag queens, their attempt to keep someone around with some pre-made fame this season is extraordinarily transparent because she's just not very good at anything and is really bad at performing, probably in the bottom five of performers in the entire series. That Jaidynn, who is a unpolished but genuinely energetic and interesting performer, went before her is just criminal, but then really the same could be said for the rest of the queens who have gone already.
  16. She doesn't do drag shows. She's said on show that Drag Race is her first time performing. And this episode's Untucked she was worried about lipsynching because she didn't have a routine thought up for the song and forgot all it's lyrics. So maybe she'll pull it out and turn out to be the untrained Latrice Royale of fashion queens, but all signs point to 'complete lip sync train wreck'(which honestly would be in keeping with this season's lip syncing anyway, which is mostly around the same level of energy as Honey Mahogany vs Vivienne Pinay).
  17. One thing I always find strange, that in the finale when they have to pick teams one of the guys always seems to go for a all guy team. It didn't blow up in Logan's face like it did Roy(really Roy? No one who knows how to do beauty makeup for a /ballet/ challenge?), but it is one of those things that will make me give a stinkface about the contestant.
  18. I'd say Trixie was that way, India Ferrah as well(though there it's more like she's boring out of drag and even more boring in). But it's pretty notable with Fame because she's made it this far and is clearly getting cut a lot of slack. And while I originally really liked how she painted her face, after week after week of the same makeup i'm realizing she looks less current model and more 45 year old ex-model who had too many facelifts like Janice Dickinson in make up. Maybe too much facetape, sometimes I wonder if she's capable of blinking.
  19. I do imagine Olyvar is still around for the same reason Roz was: he's a actual actor but willing to do the extended, full frontal nude scenes of the extras(many of them porn actors) they hire for the brothel etc scenes. Though unlike Roz he isn't great for giving a humanized face to those brothel scenes since we know literally nothing about him other than that he looks really good naked. Personally I don't mind his current presence, including the change to Loras which I feel is another example of differences of character age changing character circumstances, BookLoras is a teenager mooning over a older man who started sleeping with him when he was like 12, ShowLoras and ShowRenly aren't that far off in age and were in a much more equitable relationship.
  20. I do notice that the people who came in with characters haven't really used them much. Besides Katya, Max hasn't done anything with the whole 'I came from Oz!' schtick he had in his Meet The Queens. And last season Adore Delano's 'I'm a fucking mermaid!' never made it out of Meet The Queens either, besides having a few clearly Ariel inspired looks.
  21. Unfortunately I kind of gather at this point that 'powerless female extra in a very rapey situation stripping naked' is actually considered the more 'arty' form of nudity for premium cable style TV, given how many articles I saw praising Marco Polo for it's use of nudity and that is pretty much 100% of what it has. Did Jon actually have any nudity in that scene? From what I remember it was 100% naked Ygritte and then like a half second blink and you'll miss it out of focus side view of Jon jumping into the pool.
  22. I'm kind of hoping next season is a full on All Stars season, I think the show has a strong enough backroll of runners up and notable contestants to bring back that it would be nice to see them come back and compete. But not a half assed half new half veteran season.
  23. While it is likely to happen, I do think the show pre-season 4 is in many ways a different animal than post-season 4. A lot fewer condensed plotlines, many more minor characters included(thinking on it, almost all the minor characters in the show come from the first three seasons), much fewer cut plotlines and very few new plotlines. I'm pretty sure until they were looking at season 4 and beyond and seeing the work they had to do that they were still planning at a fairly faithful adaption of the books and so a lot of season 1-3 has setup for characters and plotlines we may never see on the show. Though how much has actually been cut has yet to be seen, i'm kind of getting the feeling we'll likely see things cut from this season appear next season(Bran and the Iron Islands being the most obvious ones, since if they don't show up next season then they're effectively the most time wasting multi-season arc ever)..
  24. Alyssa, total class act as always. As someone who is not a Violet fan, her portrayal of Alyssa did raise my estimation of her. Not because it was really good, it definitely earned being safe and no more, but because she threw it together quickly after scrapping her original choice and still had a grasp of everything she needed to do. Still not the best sense of humor or comic timing, but she didn't flatline at all.
  25. Well, this episode has made some of my friends drop the season from their queue of shows to watch. The Snatch Game is usually what separates the winners from the losers and as they put it 'Just fucking crown Ginger already if the rest are going to be this bad'. I have to say, this season has definitely not won me over. Earlier seasons usually only had one, two at most, queens who would really warrant being on a 'Top 10 Most Blah Drag Race Contestants' list but this season could easily populate the entire list because they just that incredible blah. When someone as talentless as Miss Fame is a real contender for the season it just ain't going anywhere.
