  1. For the DC metro area, that's a steal! Or in my neck of the woods (SF Bay Area), a 2 bedroom apartment.
  2. Well, we know Derick was at work as recently as the week when Joshgate broke. Jill said in the Megyn Kelly interview that when she found out what had happened, she "called [her] husband at work." He likely gave notice that Friday, the 22nd; that was the day after the shit hit the fan. Two weeks' notice would have made his last day last Friday, the 5th. Others have noted that he may have just been sent packing right away. All we know is that Pickles claims the robo email was "very recent." I posit that Wally World squeezed the last bit of blood out of that turnip before he moved on. It's the least Derick could do after taking seemingly most of this quarter off.
  3. I don't think that it's a big stretch that they impose these hyper-modest rules on the young girls because of what happened to the older girls (who were wearing bloody Little House dresses, for crying out loud!). Of course they didn't say anything like that; now we know WHY they didn't say anything like that. The finger would have pointed far too close to home, and they were doing all that they could to forget that it happened, but at the same time, try to make sure it never happened again. The two aren't mutually exclusive to for the hypothesis to be proven true.
  4. The Duggars may not have blamed the girls per se, but just look at what they do. Mechelle almost had an aneurysm when Josie ran around without her shrug at Jill's wedding reception. So, it's not a case of what they say, it's a case of what they do. Mechelle obviously thinks that the little girl is potentially enticing someone if she does not cover her shoulders. It's sad in retrospect, knowing what we know now, but that's not the only example of this. It's just the most blatant one that we all saw.
  5. Deanna preceded Boob in school by 3 years, so I doubt there was really a discussion about where to send her. I get the feeling the JB asked to go to Shiloh Christian, and his parents, who probably had to go without some things to send him, managed to pay for 4 years. Even if Deanna had wanted to go there for her senior year, from what Boob has told us, it doesn't seem that there was enough money for both to go.
  6. I'd buy this if they were allowed to be on social media like "normal people" ie. their legions of teenage leghumpers. They aren't allowed to "communicate" with the fans until they're engaged, and even then, the relationship is a one-way street. They aren't going to follow any of us. This goes for ALL Duggars on social media, not just Jessa and Ben. However, Jessa and Ben DEFINITELY like the attention more than Jill and Derick, or even the entity that posts as "duggarfam."
  7. That timeframe would have missed both my brother and JB until they were in middle school! But as I noted, they DID catch it in my brother (at a private, secular school) when he was 15. eta: "Really struggled with reading" doesn't say much. It could be an undiagnosed LD, or maybe he just didn't/doesn't like to read. He doesn't strike me as overly intellectual. :D As for the speech issue, listen to his kids. I think that's environmental rather than inherited. Listen to his young kids. They end up growing out of it, as JB obviously did.
  8. Back then, what would have been diagnosed? Maybe dyslexia. My brother, who is a year younger than JB, was diagnosed, but not until he was about 15. I suspect he also had ADHD, but back then, kids were just labeled hyperactive and kept back a grade (also happened to my brother). I honestly don't remember JB talking about that; I just remember him talking about how small and scrawny he was in high school. Doesn't mean that he didn't have a LD of some sort. I am usually pretty reliable with this stuff, but I can't definitively answer this either way.
  9. I'm going based on what JB has written of his childhood. That's the way he portrays himself; he saw Shiloh Christian as the "privilege."
  10. Deanna had Amy when she was 24. She's now 52, going on 53. Amy is 28, turning 29 later this year. She was nowhere near being knocked up in high school. I figure that JB got the private school education because he was the Golden Male Child. Mary may hang out with Deanna a fair bit, but look who she's living with, adopting skirts-only, etc.
  11. I think JB still owns the car lot. Remember they showed an old family friend running it? At minimum, he still owns the property. They would be stupid to kick that guy out and reinstall Smuggar there. I agree that he's even lower on the totem pole than "regular" used car salesmen. For the time being, I see no other option for him than to go to work for JB. I don't even think IBLP headquarters would touch him at this point. However, this is all subject to change in a year or two IF nothing else emerges.
  12. Since there's no gender reveal in either Jessa's or Ben's Instagram pics, I'm voting that they're pretty sure TLC is at least giving them a #BabySeewald VSE. For all we know, TLC was quietly there with them today.
  13. TBH, my first thought was that it has to do with Josie, ie. not getting care for whatever ails her. I know the Duggars and TLC are trying to portray her as "all better now," but is that really the case? Just a thought...
  14. Aaaaand they have a David Waller-inspired website: Brandon Loves Michael(a) - because they can't decide HOW to spell her name on the front page! LOL http://brandonlovesmichaela.com/
  15. Yes, Brandon and Michael are engaged. The wedding is Aug. 15th. And hands OFF Bradley. He's MY boo! :D
  16. No, any praying they show the Duggars do is basic meal prayers or prayers for special people, ie. a prayer for Jill when she went in for her c-section. Prayers for Derick and Jill's engagement, etc. Even when they used to show them during Bible time, I remember a simple bible lesson for the littles and asking around if there was anyone they needed to pray for. I don't remember them ever doing formal prayers on camera.
  17. Will they allow him to fly back once a month to get his braces adjusted??? REALLY???? Also, I don't see orthodontia being on the radar at all in Kathmandu right now. The city is pretty much in ruins from what I've heard from people who were there when the earthquakes struck (one person is home now, much to the relief of her mother). :)
  18. It just occurred to me that they can't be doing a mission to any 3rd world country. What about Derick's orthodontia? I mean, damn, dude just had major jaw surgery barely a month ago. He's gotta be going to work for JB. Jill has made it no secret that's what she wants.
  19. Derick may also be making himself available for this spinoff, since he was still employed about a month ago, and the spinoff had been talked about even before all this stuff happened. Jill said she called Derick at work when the scandal broke, so this is a VERY recent thing. We don't know how much lead time there was between the Duggars getting notice of the police report request and their release on the 19th, but if he's not at work today, he'd already given notice by the 19th. It's likely his last day was this past Friday. And it's true. I tried sending an email, and I got the robomessage.
  20. I just hope this doesn't mean they've gone totally bunker mentality, and Derick is going to work as JB's tax shelter guru. eta: I saw the post in question. :)
  21. The Digging In episode was filmed when Izzy was 4 weeks old, which was 15 days before the first InTouch article on 5/19. I don't think the Duggars had THAT much lead time in being aware that InTouch had applied for the police records. The records were released to InTouch on the 19th and published online on the 21st. I don't think it took two weeks for InTouch to get those documents. I think the Duggars were informed before the 19th, but no way they knew two weeks out.
  22. The US Weekly link I posted maybe 20 posts back has pics of the new Smuggar digs.
  23. The taxes were paid off about two weeks before the scandal broke.
  24. I'm not blaming Josiah, just saying that his window for public exposure may have closed due to the actions of his brother. And as we have said, that's life. Doors close all the time, and I don't care what the Duggar party line has been on the Fox specials; they wouldn't have done them if they "didn't care" or were "at peace" regarding the future of the show. Stevie Wonder could see what was up here.
  25. He did, however, have quite a decent run. Someone like Josiah is probably seething. He is the most like Josh, personality wise, and probably saw a bright future for himself in the spotlight.
