I think this refers to charitable acts, not mooching off your family and thinking that the "Lord provides." Two different animals, entirely. As I said above, the BIBLE says, leave and cleave. Mechelle even said it when Josh got married, but unlike the usual situation in which the kid is the moocher, here the parent offers perks and a paying spot on a long-running television show. Time to cut BOTH cords, both the houses and jobs/TV show in its entirety. Let the kids actually fucking leave and cleave. If JB and Mechelle raised them right, there would be no worries, right? I think a big underlying reason they can/t' let go is that they are truly afraid that the cultspeak may not stick. It's easier to keep them in daddy's bosom - so to speak - than allow them to test the waters of real life on their own. Sure, Josh got a taste of life on his own in DC, but let's face it, there was usually one of his family members at his place, or he flew home for long weekends twice a month. On balance, he really did NOT have the breathing room that some have given him credit for. And that's all on his parents.

Their "ministry" is supposedly to print up tracts. Except they don't have the money to buy a printing press. Or have a place to put one. That's what this stupid RV trip (originally supposed to go for TWO YEARS) was supposed to accomplish. Now, Jill wants out. The first wise thing she's ever said. And yes, I seriously doubt Erin actually INVITED these clowns. But they sure as hell made sure they were front and center, like they were the Bateses' BFFs.

They never said anything about getting teeth yanked. He just showed up at the hospital the day they took Jill home with braces on. I'm sure the appointment was planned out months in advance, knowing he'd be on leave at that time, but there's nothing to indicate he had teeth pulled. When would he have had time that week while Jill was hospitalized after the c-section? We do know that he had the jaw surgery at the very beginning of May, a little less than a month after the braces were put on. Maybe he had teeth pulled sometime in between, and that is part of the reason he's no longer employed at Wally World? That last bit is pure speculation and snark. In reality, who knows about either the teeth or his employment situation?

Jill is a poor man's Mechelle Duggar. Nurie raises those kids. They posted a video of when they got coconuts in Florida. Guess who was first in line? Let's just say that the kids were lucky to get anything, even though Nurie had done most of the work to get the things open. Well, there was DRod and a hammer, but he was ineffective. But he and Jill hoarded the shit out of those things, despite all those poor, hungry (and curious) kids. :/

If the Bateses knew about Josh, it was through the fundie grapevine, not due to up close and personal knowledge on Gil's part. The posters who dug up the research on FJ were adamant that Jim Holt was the point person in that situation. Jessa is absolutely the Regina George of fundieworld. She has never stricken me as a very nice person to anyone aside from Ben, once she decided to relent and allow him to really court her. Heck, Ben was nicer to Jinger when she started crying at the rehearsal dinner. Jill is Cady Heron, pre-Mean Girl makeover.

Before the accident, they were pretty good about moving from state to state to stay one step ahead of CPS workers. A friend of mine was going to report them when they were still in WV, but then we found out they were on the road and out of state, so there went that plan. Fuzzysox, Jill would cream her panties if she could marry off Nurie to a Duggar or Bates. The former seems to have a much better chance of happening than the latter. Fatboy David photobomed Erin's wedding footage on the show. I almost fell off the couch when I saw that they used that footage. I'd seen stills of DRod, so I knew when to look for him. LOL

It's been over a month; shouldn't the swelling be down by now? I realize Jill took the picture at that angle to mitigate the odd, new face shape, but even with that and the beard, it's still quite pronounced. I guess I'm hard on derickdillard because he's not my type. At all. However, any goodwill I might have had for him really dissipated during Catgate. I just can't with people who are insensitive toward animals.

HFC, you might want to remind your daughter and SIL that the Lord helps those who HELP THEMSELVES. And tell them that it's time they found ways to "provide" their own income stream. Or, pull a Michelle Duggar and tell them to 'LEAVE AND CLEAVE, BABY!" (but don't do as she did and provide enough lifeline for them to continue to cling to you like a barnacle - see Josh, Jill, Jessa)

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
Sew Sumi replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
Yes, the party line during both interviews was that Josh had a "life change" when he went to build the new Gothard compound in Little Rock. That's all well and good, but again, being forgiven does not equal being accountable to the law for one's actions. I'm sure there are plenty of guys sitting on death row who are really sorry they did what they did, and asked Jesus to forgive them. It doesn't make them any less guilty. Back to Jim Holt, being a chaplain and counselor at a facility meant to treat youth offenders like Josh, wouldn't he have also been a mandated reporter? But he instead put on his Church Elder hat to resolve this situation. It's so messed up when you realize that if Holt had done what he was supposed to do, the case would have been dealt with through proper channels and the records SEALED for good. Add Holt to the list of those who failed the Duggar children. Talk about some heavy duty irony. -
Free Angry Olivia from the baby cage! And Poor Nurie (JRod's 16 year-old). Before Jill's sister's accident on Good Friday, Jill really seemed to be trying to sell off Nurie to the highest bidder. They crashed Erin Bates' wedding, and Jill has mentioned Mechelle Duggar in her FB/blog posts like they're chummy. I imagine there aren't many takers for the Duggar boys these days; Nurie Rodrigues or someone of that wacky ilk may be Joseph's best bet...it's hard to say what life will be like for him in the Fall at Clown College. I know I heard some rumors about Tori Bates and Joseph Duggar when he first moved to TN earlier this year, but I sincerely doubt that the Bateses want to be tied to a Duggar since Joshgate became a multi-media conflagration.

Gil was NOT consulted. This church was pretty much run by JB and Jim Holt, who were both elders. Holt was the elder who was consulted I forget the name of the church, but after the fiasco, they left and formed the homechurch we saw in the very first special. Jim Holt was also the "expert" consulted w/r/t professional counseling. He worked as a chaplain at a local facility for minors who ran afoul of the law. All of this information (as well as the name of the facility) is easily found on Holt's own bio. Historical information regarding the church "elders" was sussed out on Free Jinger. He argued against Josh attending the CHRISTIAN facility that he had a big stake in. They obviously tried to fix this 'in house" and not involve professional facilities. This was in 2003, a year after the first abuses as well as JB's primary loss. Were they so concerned about image even before TLC came into the picture? And if so, why? Back to Jessa: I hope she has an uneventful pregnancy, but is it wrong that I hope that she gains about 40 more pounds? She seems to be more like Anna, gaining some weight all over, than Jill, who was all belly. Pregnancy hormones haven't cleared up her face either, but I can't say that the acne is any worse than it was before she got knocked up. It seems that most of the Duggars' acne is late-adolescent onset; Joy and the almost 17 year-old twins are next on deck.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events

Josh really wasn't given much of a choice now, was he? I also recall his bio on the JA20 website saying he accepted Christ when he was well under 10 years old. Which is it? Again, the Duggars are trying to have their cake and eat it. Those of us who think critically have the obligation to call them out on their bullshittery. Being forgiven =/= answering to the law for his crimes. -
Jessa is a master plagiarizer. I'm not sure she has an original thought to call her own. She just shifted from being primarily from the Gothard school to being of one even more fatalistic, if not necessarily legalistic - Calvinism. Pity that fans of the Duggars don't even bother to learn this much about them, especially since they have had a weekly show since 2008. The Duggar/Seewald (not sure about Dillard) brands of Christianity are not best for ANYONE. They're extreme fundamentalist cults.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events

An irony totally lost on JB and Mechelle. Par for the course, really. Irony is often found at the feet of fundies, but in an ironic twist of fate, they always fail to recognize it. -

That's Mackynzie. She's had pierced ears since she was about six months old. -
The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah
Sew Sumi replied to SpaghettiTuesdays's topic in Counting On
And let's face it, their core audience is a group of people who do everything based on blind faith. When you read the leghumper comments all over the internet, one is not impressed with their ability to think independently or form cogent thoughts. They TOTALLY buy what the Duggars are selling, hook, line, and sinker. They refuse to even entertain the thought that a person named Bill Gothard even exists. Although his teachings are everywhere in Duggarville, those who are blind cannot, and willfully WILL not see. I am glad that some figured this out with Joshgate, and it must sting for them to finally realize just how badly they misjudged these people. Appearances, especially that of a "happy" family, can be deceiving. I think there is a lot going on behind those vacant eyes and what I see as often forced smiles. Especially with Jana, whose still waters likely run very deep. -

Yes, they totally ignored Jackson's b-day on social media. I guess Joshie couldn't hold out any longer; he had to be going thru withdrawals (as did Jessa, but that's for her thread). -

Partay! https://instagram.com/p/3-TRwdGrWH/ And yes, not an adult in sight as they continue to hide behind cute kiddie pics to avoid criticism. Cowards. -
I wonder if they have any books that aren't biblical in nature? My guess? No.

The "tea party" was not at the TTH. The Duggars don't have those type of chairs. I think it may have been at Jill's.

I was going to add that, but I would sound like a broken record. They are ALL hiding behind the kids, babies, and bumps since their return to social media. -

FWIW, Josh and Anna rejoined social media tonight, feting Mike, who turned 4 today. Party with cupcakes at the TTH. No Sierra cake to be found, just some cupcakes and Josie (probably licking them).
