  1. Also, while I’m on a roll with unpopular opinions, I don’t understand the complaints about having characters and storylines involving Jack and William. To me, that’s essentially saying that you don’t buy into the premise and world of the show. This entire show is about showing connections among the Pearson family and how everyone that they encounter weave in and out of their lives. This show is also nonlinear, so it allows for characters who have died to have storylines that are in the past. As long as the characters stay true to themselves, then I’m okay with that. Again, I feel as though you have to buy in to the world of This Is Us, and if you don’t, then it absolutely will be a frustrating viewing experience. Plus, just on a meta level, Milo and Ron are contracted to this show. They aren’t going anywhere, so to me it just seems futile to expect them to be done with their characters’ stories. None of this means that there can’t be valid criticisms of the show, but there’s a difference between not liking a certain storyline/character and not liking the foundation of the show. There’s a certain buy in that has to happen, IMO, and that’s true of any show that’s not straightforward, for lack of a better term at the moment.
  2. Here's an unpopular opinion: I am still enjoying and loving this show, flaws and all.
  3. This show hasn’t made me cry in a long time, and I was in tears during the bar smashing scene. James Pickens, Jr is such a great actor, and he deserves a good storyline, especially since I hated that Minnick/Bailey/Richard storyline a couple of seasons ago. When the stronger actors are featured, the episode quality improves immensely! I wonder if his storyline is due to Krista bring back. A bar offering shots for AA chips is the most disgusting and horrific thing I’ve ever seen. I’m glad Richard did what he did. It was cathartic for me. Evil. I also loved the Meredith/Koracick/Catherine storyline. Mere and Koracick gel so well together, and I also bought his friendship with Catherine. Maggie/Jackson was the only disappointment in this episode. I like Maggie, but her text to Meredith was ridiculous. As was her being made that Jackson was in contact with the mother of his child! More of these types of episodes, please.
  4. I'm glad the Halloween remake is doing so well. It's made 15 times its budget just domestically! The franchise needed Curtis back, and I am thrilled.
  5. It was, and I am totally loving it. I cannot stand OSU. Karmic justice for Meyer’s BS. Also, I am happy for Taylor Trent. His story is heartbreaking. Blessings upon him.

  7. I hope not because I’m super impatient. I hope it’s February 2020.
  8. I love how Reese Witherspoon is putting in THE WORK as an ally. I fucking love her.
  9. I must say, this episode surprisingly hit me in the feels. Alex’s story about how he didn’t call an ambulance when he was a kid reminded me of the time when I was in second grade and choked on something. I couldn’t breathe. My mom called an ambulance, and I remember once we got to the hospital I apologized about the cost of the ambulance. Alex’s storyline really did affect me, and I’ve never related to Alex before tonight. It was a lovely surprise. I used to work at a practice that treated children with autism, so I immediately deduced that the child must be on the spectrum. Otherwise, his behavior makes no sense and is horrendous writing. On the other hand, maybe they didn’t want to hit us over the head by coming out and saying that he is on the spectrum. I don’t know. For me, what’s frustrating about Maggie breaking HIPAA is that there will be no repercussions. I know; I’ve been watching this show since day one. However, if this had happened on a show like ER, it wouldn’t have bothered me as much because I know there’d be consequences. This just makes me roll my eyes. I say this as someone who likes her, btw.
  10. I LOVE Head Over Heels. Is it on Hulu or Netflix??? "Can you do that thing with your back again?"
  11. For shits and giggles, I went to JetBlue and booked a flight from LAX to Philly one way for today. The ticket was just over $500. Depending on whatever level he is on whatever airline of choice he uses, maybe the fees to change the destination were waived. But still!! Regardless, if I were Beth, I would immediately tell him he'd have to nip that shit in the bud now considering they are both jobless.
  12. You're just trying to make me cry again, aren't you?! I don't care whose people they are. Randall has met these people twice. Who on Earth boards a cross country flight for people that they barely know within hours of taking another flight??
  13. It must be exhausting being married to Randall. When he was going on and on in that final scene with Beth, I was exhausted just listening to the man! Beth is a damn saint. I forget who mentioned this first upthread, but I also have an incredibly hard time believing that Randall would abandon Kate and Toby for a pair of strangers! WTH? The way Milo delivers "hey, Katie girl" melts my heart and honestly makes me tear up instantly. It is said with such love, tenderness, and affection that it almost breaks my heart. Whoever said this role is the highlight of Milo's career is 100% correct. This may be an UO, but I love seeing the backstories of Rebecca and Jack. I especially loved Jack's backstory in this episode. Also, I am marrying the first man that does the dishes with me. I swoon. That's the stuff of romance, IMO. This is the first time I've liked Kate in a while. Let's keep it up, show. I adore Kevin as per usual. I can't wait to see the Vietnam plot unfold.
  14. That house would cost $6-8 million. There are some houses near where I live in Boston that don't have NEARLY the yard that house does, and I know they would go for $4.5 million if sold. Also, I wouldn't drink Dunkin' Donuts, either. That is brown water that masquerades as coffee. YUCK.
  15. (Emphasis mine) Who said any of this? Especially the italicized part.
  16. OMG. I laughed for almost two minutes reading this. Hilarious.
  17. Yes! I can't even picture Kate as a mother because I have barely seen her interact with children, and she seems more focused on the Jack aspect than actually being a mother. Well said.
  18. You've nailed it. The actors rise above their characters with their charm. In the hands of less charismatic actors, this movie would be terrible. Like, I love when Steve is describing the spike through his sister's chin; when they all object to Mary's wedding with Massimo; when Steve swerves the car when Fran mentions the man that Mary liked "Damn deer in the road!" I still LOL at those moments. I will third the notion of adoring the "scrub, scrub, scrub" scene. :) It's very cute. I aspire to be as put together as Mary.
  19. I think what's important here is that Kevin didn't add that detail regarding looks and DNA. The movie was about to start, so he didn't have time to elaborate, which is unfortunate. When you keep that in mind, it makes Randall's reaction justified. Now, if he were upset because his kids couldn't look like Jack, then that WOULD be strange (and stupid). The whole Rebecca/Kate/Toby story is very Steel Magnolias to me. In that movie, I completely agreed with Sally Field's character, and here, I agree with Rebecca. There are serious health concerns with what Toby and Kate are doing. I completely understand Kate's desire to have a child with her father's genes. Of course! I have a heart. However, realistically, a woman with her health issues has an incredibly small chance of getting pregnant and maintaining a healthy pregnancy not to even mention the age factor. As much as you might want something, some times, that isn't possible. I am genuinely wondering if Kate truly wants to be a parent or if she's more concerned with having another piece of her father around in her life. I say that because I think if Jack were alive right now, he would remind Kate how Randall came into their lives and how much both Jack and Rebecca wanted to be parents. Jack would actually be able to reason with her. I agree with others who've said that Kate's attitude is bizarre given her family situation with regards to Randall. Her comment to Kevin was really mean; I wouldn't have blamed him if he'd told her to fuck off after she said that. It seemed to have come out of nowhere, and it makes me wonder what Kate truly thinks about Kevin's life. Again, it was bizarre. I think Kevin would make a wonderful dad. I also don't understand why Kate isn't in therapy. I mean, they ALL could use it, but in her situation, it seems necessary. I also take anti-depression medication, and the plot line with Toby is infuriating to me. No one intentionally does what he is doing! I can't get over it.
  20. It's funny because everything you said about The Wedding Planner is true, but I still love that movie. Problematic fave.
  21. I love James McAvoy. However, I do miss his more hipster appearance.
  22. Well, TV is filmed. Theatre is in front of a live audience. Therefore, they are entirely different. Also, I am an actor as well, and I don't agree. Just because other actors have said it doesn't mean it's fact. I stand by my opinion that they are two different mediums. That's why some film/TV actors don't do as well on stage, and it's why some stage actors don't do as well on TV/film. Some aren't as adaptable. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses.
  23. I disagree. They are two entirely different mediums. Not comparable, IMO.
