  1. Well that was the best episode yet. Stream of consciousness -- I liked very much how they handled the whole bear killer thing overall. I've decided I can tolerate Sophie as long as she isn't speaking. And I'm starting to love Rik Rankin a bit. Jamie's wig didn't make me want to set it alight for the 2nd episode in a row, and I'm liking the fact that whoever's doing Clare's age makeup seems to be getting it done well. I wish Ian was a bit more...Ian. And I'm disappointed that Marsali and Fergus aren't as much of a set of characters as they've been in the books by this point. (Was Marsali that pregnant when they first set out then? I feel like she wasn't.) Did NOT appreciate the surveying of the land with a pack mule, 3 horses, and a wagon. FFS. :P I enjoyed the native segments, though I very much hope we get the scene w/ Jamie and the chief's daughters at some point. All in all it was the first episode this season that I wanted to watch again, so I did!
  2. Sophie is still soooo bad. I can't for the life of me believe they couldn't have found an appropriate UK citizen who grew up in America and could slap on a damn wig. Still, she's marginally better. As was Jamie's wig. Looking forward to tomorrow's episode, maybe they can finally slow down and enjoy the story some...
  3. Why would the Scots have weapons in America? It's still a British territory, and they're still forbidden weapons by the king, no? Agreed on them needing to age the heck up, quickly. It's not believable. Just use a bit of glue to add some wrinkles in the forehead, some crows feet, and color Jamie's beard growth with a bit of silver scattered through. A white mascara wand would take care of both their hair without terrible wigs and call it good.
  4. That was from the book though I think he told Brianna about it while she was captive to him.
  5. I didn't like the episode. There, I said it. Sam and Catriona don't seem to have any chemistry anymore. Sam's wigs are beyond terrible - so much so that every time he's on the screen I want to look away rather than become immersed in the episode. The only good part was the last 3-4 minutes on the pole-barge. That was some good Outlandering. Also, I must shamefully admit that I felt for Steven Bonnett a little bit in the books, and I don't think that's going to change in the show unfortunately. Actor's going to be a very pleasant surprise much like the man playing John Grey I suspect.
  6. It's the last scene from the official Season 4 trailer, just a different angle.
  7. Oh, Sansa will rule alright. She will take Casterly Rock and claim it for the Starks in a final act of revenge. Arya will become the Lady of the North. Bran will become the Hermit King at the Vale. Jon or Dany will die (probably Dany) and the remainder will be the sole remaining ruler stationed at King's Landing. And the Starks will hold it all.
  8. Orlando's career is long since dead though.
  9. I've sort of fallen in love with Twig myself. Poor thing.
  10. I am extraordinarily happy about Billy Boyd!! Also, I'm hoping they actually pronounce his last name. A few of my Scottish folks have insisted that Forbes should be pronounced "For-bish" but that sounds so odd to my American ears.
  11. It was definitely common. At any rate, there is no requirement for agreement and so we will agree to disagree. I think he looks waifish, gaunt, and not at all manly at this point in time. Tall just isn't enough.
  12. Which means he should not be a Euroslim modern looking man at *all*.
  13. I wish Sam would bulk back up and put some weight on his face. He doesn't look like Jamie anymore really.
  14. Could not agree more. This is awful.
  15. It was clearly named for the club Sterling was handing out cards for, IMHO.
  16. I felt like Sterling really meant he was trying to keep from getting killed/assbeat. He was one guy, alone, against 3 with no reason to believe help would be there in time. But he was clearly also a bit of a user living on Jess' powers and trying to find another investor to fleece.
  17. She is. They already indicated this was about a year later and she's 18 now. In the very first episode that was all about "First New Year's without Mom" thing.
  18. There have been lots of 10 year shows over the years... Right off the top of my head SNL, Survivor, American Idol, M*A*S*H, Cheers, Real World, This Old House, 60 Minutes, ER, South Park, CSI, It's Always Sunny... There has to be tons more...
  19. I did not enjoy Season 3 at all. The writing and characterization was often off. When it was right though, it was very, very right. And I've noticed that the few times I thought it was right, included David Berry universally. Very interesting. I'm hoping that America rekindles my love for this show, because I'm semi-off the train right now.
  20. I really do not think I'm going to be around for much longer unless they get the original writers back on board. Jamie and Claire do not look 40 and 50 respectively. Jaime's character is just...off. All season, something is just off. This whole section was boring, but there were moments of nice. I like the characterization of Marsali, but I can't understand a word she says when she's speaking quickly. We definitely should have seen the gale that killed the Porpoise.
  21. It's all quite wonderful actually. It's a soap, but it's a good one.
  22. Loved it! Can we keep this writer please? Also...Elias broke my damn heart.
  23. It's used regularly in day to day conversation and is gender neutral in much of Europe and Australia (where in fact it's most often used by men addressing one another). It's only Americans who really find it offensive. It's considered very mild pretty much everywhere else. But y'all go on believing whatever you like, I'm not here to evangelize.
  24. Cunt is not really a swear word anywhere except America. Not sure what the freakout is all about. Also, the rape aspect seems pretty..meh to me. Welcome to the 18th century when life was short and brutal. I adore the Outlander books, all of them, and can't wait for Brianna and Roger's story to take the forefront. Even though I think Sophie whatsherface is (currently) a terrible actor. I have at least some hope for her.
