  1. You can hack cars like that you know. Make the brakes not work and stuff. Actually you can pretty much take over the whole car, no matter what the inhabitant is doing. Watch/listen for a couple of minutes while the researcher talks and she'll tell you how they hacked a car with a song..and you'll never know it happened. https://youtu.be/zurrQiETDHA?t=53 I'm half-deaf due to way too much loud music in my youth, and I kept thinking it was just me. And then the damn commercials have that 10+ shocking dB change. Kids, don't watch this on demand - make sure your recording. Ugh.
  2. I could maybe get behind Richard Madden if he was interested in it. He looks WAY older than Sam though!
  3. The language is not abnormal. I walked past one of those last year saying there would be a something along the lines of a bomb-threat simulation with a simulated response from SWAT at the end of the block at X time on Y day.
  4. I am still pissed about Rubicon. And I am long, long past a college freshman age and have recently grown up enough to realize that the sociopolitical commentary in this show is spot on. It has to be if there's to a be a world for my great-great grandchildren to live in.
  5. Rankin is the only one of those men that I can actually see as Roger.
  6. That was my immediate thought too to be honest. There was something...significant about it that wasn't correct for the situation. Could be Kit's acting, but I dunno. It was slightly odd.
  7. When so much of your audience watches an episode, the finale nonetheless, and has no idea what actually happened, it marks a huge and utter failure. There was SO MUCH FAIL in this finale. This season was pretty crappy overall for that. All the elegance and cohesiveness of the first two was just gone.
  8. That's because she made some horrible noise like someone hit her in the back and the camera cut away before you saw her keep her oath.
  9. Yeah, that might be the end of it for me too. These dudes are CREEPY. Everything they insert that's not in the books is sadistic brutality of women. I'm kind of over it.
  10. The swamp lady said Tommen was going to bite it too, so....yeah...things are about to from bad to worse for Cersei...
  11. Control will escape and defect fully I think.
  12. It's been foreshadowed for ages. I always thought Stannis really left her at the wall with Melly to be able to somewhere claim plausible deniability. He knew. He always knew. I also agree with the above poster that in the books, this will be somehow used to resurrect Jon Snow. There are definitely places in the books where I think it is fairly clear she's going to end up like daddy. I distinctly remember thinking 'She's mad. Utterly mad.' Also, I think next week, Arya pays the price for her disobedience.
  13. Except Frank already pretty much told her he wouldn't have minded at all if she'd taken lovers during the war, and made it pretty clear he had. This behaviour would be either uncharacteristic or an uncharitable double-standard. I think he was curious to know if his wife was a nutter or not in the books.
  14. BJR's more visceral and involved with, focused on, the person he's torturing. He doesn't really go for shock, he seems to have a much more subtle and invested sort of conversational approach to his perversion. The corpse thing just wouldn't...work. It doesn't fit his pattern. I dunno. I can't explain it.
  15. That's actually somewhat annoying. It's completely inconsistent with the character of BJR to be honest. I expected better of Menzies.
  16. Oberyn was considered a very learned man - he even spent time in maester school...
  17. Their oath is not celibacy, but rather to father no children, nor marry. It's to prevent a conflict of interest/leverage point.
  18. That's actually exactly the point. As for the whole killing BJR thing - if she does, she never marries Frank, and if she never marries Frank and she doesn't honeymoon her way through the stones and...I'm not sure I could do it either... It's losing both of her loves, for certain. And maybe dying in the war herself since her path would have to be rewritten (assuming she doesn't just go up in a paradoxical poof of smoke.)
  19. Actual height is unimportant in filming. There are no hobbits in real life for example, nor dwarves. Bree could be played by Hayden Panatierre and they'd get the perspective right with careful shooting. And Tom Cruise is wee but you'd not know it from his work.
  20. I got that completely. I think she knew exactly how things were going to go down, and that she believed Myranda. I don't think the she thought it was quite as sick as it was though, but Sophie did a fantastic job of conveying knowing IMHO. Remember, Sansa did this because she intends to kill them all. She was told on the road to Winterfell, and Littlefinger would have turned around if she'd chosen not to marry at that point. He'd have found some other way to get her to the altar, but she certainly didn't learn about this when it was too late...
  21. What's more, he wanted the Sansa who'd been abused by Joffrey and Ramsey and who he 'nurtured and trained and 'saved' from Lysa'. She will be his most loyal servant when he's done with her life experience shaping.
  22. What a brilliant idea. I never thought of this! Has it been done before? Edit: That Amber girl is PERFECT for Bree. Not too pretty, but still striking. So's the Sharon girl. I think I'm going to rest easy about the casting - their casting director's amazing and going to get it right.
  23. This. A thousand times this. It was an occupation, a war, a purposeful and methodical destruction of an ancient culture and society. It was brutal, and terrible, and soul-crushing. And it was meant to be all of those things. It was done so effectively that the repercussions have lasted through to this very day, hundreds of years later. It wasn't until just this past year that the Scots started to make a significant move toward independence again and make no mistake, if they had, the war of economics which would have been levied against the Scottish people would have been no less brutal than the Jacobite wars. And, let's all be honest here, if anyone thinks that soldiers in the middle east aren't raping or being raped, today, right now, then they have a lot to learn about war and the psychology thereof. Rape is, and always has been, one of the most effective weapons in a soldier's arsenal.
  24. When Merlyn told the crew they were subpar actors, I about DIED laughing.
