  1. I felt like I was watching an episode of Shark Tank. Then J saying she'd use her money...for a cookbook? I was so confused.
  2. Thank you for starting this thread. I wanted to love this show. Dan Levy is a treasure, and brunch is my favorite meal of the week. However, it's just so...forced? I know it's trying to recreate the vibe of GBBO, but I thought Netflix's recent Drink Masters did a better job at camaraderie with its cast. There's just not enough of the food. Six episodes in, and it's barely registering with me. I'm not sure why I'm still watching. I also am not a fan of Sohla.
  3. I attend a big music festival in Atlanta every year, and my accessible look is a graphic tee and shorts or jeans. And as a short person, if someone was in front of me blocking my view wearing Jeanette's crown, I'd be so annoyed. (Yes, I know that "festival" was defined loosely. Still, I bet the woman who was eliminated first was especially annoyed that she missed this challenge.)
  4. He said recently in an interview that he loves feeding his crew, and that if he ate all that food, he would gain too much weight. :)
  5. I am starting to think the show has run its course, too. As I said upthread, I don't long for the return of sailcats; I just want hoarders who will keep my attention for the episode's span, and the two-hour running time is feeling ever more bloated.
  6. When did Dorothy become so damn insufferable? Badges? While I'm not advocating for a return to the days of sailcats and pickles and possums, this season has been so boring.
  7. I don't know if it was here or on TWoP where Zaz was named Dr. Tonya Hoarding, but that might be my favorite nickname ever.
  8. My streaming service does not have A&E, so I have an Amazon subscription. I noticed that the episode was only about 50 minutes and wondered why. At some point during the Melissa freakout during day two, the episode abruptly ended. Normally, I would be annoyed, but I found her story to be boring, so I didn't really care. Reading the summaries here will suffice, and as I've been saying, I don't know why the newer episodes are so drawn out. Keep the runtime at an hour, A&E.
  9. That was one of the least convincing "yes, I'll go to rehab" statements ever and I've been watching this show from the first episode. I knew she was going to bolt before she got on the flight. And even her eventual trip 10 weeks later to detox, I knew she was going to leave because she wasn't invested in the process. I also didn't have high hopes for Ashley because none of the family members could give an ultimatum since none enabled her. The only people that could--Tamika, Danny--were addicts themselves. Sad.
  10. I kept thinking about the possibility of a fire, especially with all those old newspapers scattered about. The article mentioned above notes that he has been diagnosed with Asperger's. I actually wondered if he was on the spectrum, the way that he seemed to lack the ability to see the forest for the trees.
  11. I kept thinking about the moment the sister said that the cops were called when she tried to help him clean. I wonder if the cat ever saw the possum. :O
  12. Did anyone else worry about what happened to the dog?
  13. I suffer from chronic terrible anxiety, and I usually get crabby at the over-the-top media depictions of what a panic attack looks like. Ted looking at his hands seems like a small detail, but it meant the world to me because that's when I know it's happening. My hands start tingling. I really appreciated that moment.
  14. I have to watch this show on mute and with captioning because I cannot deal with all the annoying music.
  15. Here is some more information about Elann's death. So sad. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/opioid-overdose-awareness-day-campbell-river-mother-tracy-masters-1.5266735 Another article here states that it was "an intentional overdose" said she was doing well before a relapse in January 2019. https://www.campbellrivermirror.com/news/tragedy-leads-to-hope-for-masters-family/
  16. You can tell it's a Canadian episode if there's a scene with butter tarts. Note: I'm American, but only know about them because of my proximity to the Canadian border growing up. Whenever I make them for friends and colleagues, no one knows what they are.
  17. BSOJ is the abbreviation for "black screen of judgment/justice" -- that disclaimer that appear at end of shows like Hoarders and Intervention to give an update. Someone on the old Television Without Pity boards coined that term. JAG = Joshua Adam Garcia. He was one of two finalists in the third season of Next Food Network Star in 2007. One of the last episodes began with a BSOJ telling the viewers that the producers had discovered he had lied about his military service and had embellished his resume. He voluntarily dropped out when confronted, and he was replaced by the chef who was in third place, Amy Finlay.
  18. I realize I might be the only one to remember this foodie reality television moment, but I kept thinking about Season 3 of The Next Food Network Star when the producers had discovered that JAG lied about his military experience and inflated his resume. I was half-expecting some sort of BSOJ announcing that Gabe had been disqualified. Nope. @questionfear: The "choose your own adventure" Reddit metaphor is brilliant. I often use the description of Reddit as a microcosm of the internet. There are some places you should never ever go, but other spots are full of brilliant insight, and some are just damn entertaining.
  19. Phil's father Max died last night. Very sad. https://www.instagram.com/p/CQn3LbcNOdQ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
  20. That's the subplot that completely took me out of Season 3, to be honest.
  21. As I mentioned upthread, I already watched this episode on Amazon Prime, and I didn't want to say too much... But now I can say that Tim is a control freak gaslighter. I have watched enough reality television to know that editors control what we see. However, I'm very familiar with gaslighters, so I feel safe in making that judgment about Tim. This episode truly gave me anxiety.
  22. Corey, thank goodness. This episode needed Corey. Maybe Matt would have worked, but not Dorothy.
  23. The Tim episode is already up on Amazon. YouTube TV doesn't have A&E, so I bought this season on Amazon, where the episodes drop the day after they originally air. I watched it and really wanted to see what everyone had to say, only to find A&E moved its airdate. Tim...is something, and that's all I'll say for now.
  24. Someone upthread mentioned Longtime Companion, a favorite of mine which I recently rewatched--well, right before COVID-19 shut down our indie theater--as part of a series on LGBT+ film. I also adored the more recent movie Pride. Did Colin remind anyone of a young Christoph Waltz?
  25. I teach English. When a student doesn't meet the basic requirements for an essay, no matter how skillfully written the prose is, the essay will fail. Simple. It was also not just that he didn't follow the most basic parameter. He also had such disdain for the entire comic genre which ticked me off. Let me also add how much I loved Cat's vacuum cleaner.
