  1. As someone who worked in restaurants for over a decade, I get really antsy seeing the women on this show not putting up their hair. Drives me nuts. Normally, this show makes me really hungry, and I love a good pie, but aside from Ryan's "key lime" pie, nothing looked appetizing.
  2. And her character was an alcoholic. I kept thinking about how Evan Rachel Wood played her stepdaughter on Once and Again.
  3. Sometimes students take online classes because they mistakenly believe they will be easier. Some do well, as long as they know the expectations. Again, we don't know, and may never will, but he could have been taking online classes at the community college as a way to get back on track to be readmitted full-time to App State. If he wasn't failing but hadn't logged into the college's LMS in a month, that could have been another sign of him disassociating.
  4. Exactly, and it was a bit distracting. I also wondered how he got away with not attending ASU and going instead to a community college. If Martin was paying his own way, no big deal, I guess, expect for the pattern of not telling the truth. And although we didn't get all the details, a huge red flag for me was the comment about him taking 4-5 online classes at the CC. I'm a community college professor, and that is an insane load.
  5. Who was the woman interviewed as his mother? His father's ex-wife but not the birth mother? And then there's the stepmother? I'm so confused. One of the first lines in the episode was about the parents' estrangement, which seemed odd to highlight.
  6. I have known some Allisons, Alexandras, Alexandrias, and "Alley Cat" is a common nickname. Sounds like something a psychic would reveal, and someone gullible (or a desperate family) would think, "Oh, my God, how did you know that?" when it's quite reductive. Also something, like the scar, the PI could have gleaned from investigation.
  7. Sadly, this was my first thought as well. I really hope it's not the case, though.
  8. Anyone else find this whole scenario to be odd? Maybe I was watching with too much cynicism. Like 100Proof said, why the ruse?
  9. And one of the nicest Goodwill stores I've ever been to. Not that the Southern Charm crowd would go there--Gwynn's is more their style--but I can just imagine the rich HHI residents donating their clothes and other sundries.
  10. And there are gators all over the place. I live in SC, yet I'm still terrified by alligators. If you don't pay them any mind, you won't become gator food, but it was still disconcerting to see them just there, sunbathing or strolling around the golf courses.
  11. I loved the scene of Peter Mullan dancing to Roxy Music. He's always been one of my favorite actors.
  12. And the roommate's use of the credit card a couple weeks after Sage went missing? That was weird on so many levels.
  13. I live in Richland County, and I wanted to head out to the Grand Motel to rescue some of those kitties. :( On a lighter note, I loved all the Super Troopers references last night.
  14. I feel for the Bradley family. I do. However, I really think it's a case of Occam's Razor. She fell off the balcony. I watched last night's episode and my armchair detective self came up with the same conclusion as I did when I saw the case on other true crime programs about her disappearance. It was probably a terrible accident. There is a special place in hell for the people who took advantage of this family.
  15. I think that Andrew is my favorite interventionist of either the Canadian or American flavors of this show. Agreed that Melissa wasn't ready. Bailing three days into rehab was sadly not a twist ending.
  16. Yes, I do! One of my favorite parts of watching Live PD is playing the "Where are they?" game when I see RCSD! I live about five minutes from the Leesburg Rd. I-77 exit. :) I drive by that exact location multiple times daily, so I recognized that spot right away!
  17. Happened in my little city. As you can imagine, there's a ton of press here, no doubt because it was on television.
  18. I mentioned on a previous episode's thread how I went to high school with her husband, who was a couple of grades behind me. The older brother and I had classes together. Yes, the family is very status-conscious, and very old-money. Dad is a doctor, and I know two of the sons are as well--Cam's husband and his older brother. I was about to say something about how Bravo loves the nouveaux-riche, but then there's Thomas Ravenel. Therefore, I vote for "not interested." Turns out my husband and I missed the SC crew by about two weeks. We were in Key West in late December. That restaurant where they ate is near Mallory Square and right across from this nice sculpture garden. I saw a kid chasing one of the ubiquitous Key West chickens there.
  19. I was confused about (ex-)boyfriend's condemned house in Wausau. I'll assume it wasn't a hoarding situation. Too much partying? And he rented another house close by? I felt there was a lot of missing information in this episode.
  20. I just realized that I went to high school with Cameran's husband. It was a huge high school, and I didn't know him, but I just checked my yearbook, and there he is, two years behind me. He's also mutual FB friends with a few of my acquaintances from my teenage years. His dad was one of the town doctors, so I guess he followed in his footsteps.
  21. I'm Native American, and my jaw dropped at that part. I'm happy for my stipends, but they are a fraction of that amount. I agree with your ultimate conclusion, mamadrama, If only because of his Type 1 Diabetes, I don't think he's alive.
  22. Viceland has become one of my to-go cable channels. Special shout-out to the hilarious Nirvanna the Band the Show, which makes me laugh like no show has done in a long, long time. From the TV Guide description: "Two guys go to great lengths to get their band a gig at a small Toronto music venue in this comedy." (That "small Toronto music venue" is the Rivoli on Queen St. in Toronto. ) The "band" has nothing to do with Kurt Cobain or anything grunge-related. I've found that detail confuses some folks when I try to describe the show. One of the creators described the show as Ali G meets Flight of the Conchords. Others have brought up Jackass as a point of reference.
  23. Unless Bravo makes Gizmo a member of the main cast, I think I need to take this show off my DVR. If I want to see Charleston, I can just drive two hours south of my house. As the kids would say, I can't even with this group. Cameran and her motherhood issues, Craig and the bar exam, Shep and his bar-hopping and womanizing, Kathryn/Thomas and their drama, and above all, Landon and that dumb ****ing website. ARGH!
  24. Shep and Austen were at Warehouse on King St., which is the closest we'll get to Top Chef Season 14/Southern Charm crossover. :)
  25. Maybe I'm heartless, but I had very little sympathy for Sandra. I felt sorry for that gorgeous house that is now a mess thanks to her neglect, as well as the dogs in her truck. And I don't think Matt was being "immature" at all. Heck, he had a lot more patience than I would have had. I think having the sheriff remove her would have been best for all involved, but then there would not have been a two-hour season (series?) finale. $14,000 recouped at an auction? That's all? Jeez.
