People are writing such great theories about who it really was on this thread -- it really is like it ain't over till it's over! I'm kind of hoping Carrie will realize she's not ready to be a full-time mother yet and that Mare will invite her to live with them.

S46.E20: Anya Taylor-Joy / Lil Nas X

I absolutely LOVE when Michael and Colin write each other's jokes!!!! Sad to see Cecily going - she's been my favorite of this run of players. And she's so multitalented - everyone on the show can carry a tune, but she seems to have real Broadway musical chops. Is Pete leaving, too? I teared up when he thanked the audience for letting him grow up in front of us. -
And with April!!!!! I'm so happy about that.

I think Aidan's misinformation -- that males ovulate, too, and that a female can only get pregnant if she and the male are ovulating at the same time -- is a REALLY good argument for sex education in schools.
-
Looking back - and liking Jenna a lot now - I think they purposely edited her to look like a ditz in the first episode or two. Turns out she's far more mature than either of her parents. I wish she'd be okay with having 2 different family celebrations for everything. I think in the long run it will be less stressful for her, and it would be the same if her parents lived in different states, anyway.

S06.E04: Damage Control
JeanJean replied to Mrs. Hanson's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After
She said then that she was wearing it because she had a bad tooth that air aggravated. -
I love Kate Winslet but she does not bode well for male characters who fall in love with her. First Jack on the Titanic, now Zabel. So sad about Zabel. Well, he's in heaven with Jack now ... And haha, Brianna, all that trouble for a guy who doesn't give a shit.

And the actress delivered it so beautifully, just perfectly.

I loved the wrap up to Jill's journey. The old Jill wouldn't have been able to have a less than perfect wedding, let alone one with a mother-daughter duo scrapping in the background. It bodes really well for the chaos kids bring into a household!! I think part of the lack of any real wrap up for Wendy may stem from her arc never being clearly defined. What would she have needed for a happy ending? One of Marjorie's major arcs was her relationship with her son, and that was settled. Jill's was the baby arc. Tammy's was having a stable life for the first time in forever. Wendy never seemed to be really longing for anything - and she was very stable as a nurse. And wasn't she made nurse-manager recently? Anyway, good ending. And you go, Jill!

I just realized I'm a little sad about "Mom" ending. It's been a regular part of my life for so long. My favorite episode, I think, is the one where they all unknowingly got stoned. And the jewel in the first episode of Christy pronouncing her own name "Christ-y." It was a good run.
-
I think it's hard to do a half-hour finale; it's really only about 20 minutes of show. It was fine, but I really did feel the lack of Christy at the end. Her not being involved made it feel somewhat unfinished. But there was probably nothing they could do about that.

It's a great word, though!!!! It sounds like "when you suddenly realize you'll be in a job you hate the rest of your life." I liked it!!!!

Craig Zobel is the director's name, so I kind of think the character was purposely named something similar.

Hee! I eat them, too. But Helen's line of reasoning, though unspoken, was pretty funny. And I think the only other time we've seen frozen veggies on the show is when Mare used a bag of them to ice her ankle.
-
The funniest thing about hiding the ice cream in the frozen vegetables is that Jean Smart's character knew no one would want frozen vegetables. That cracked me up.

I tend to think Anna is the reason there was a show in the first place. She was probably attached to the project at the start. I also would like to see something happy for Wendy. And I kind of wish there would be some little mention of the kids, Baxter, Ray, etc. It's as if the kids never existed and I thought the kids really grounded Christy's character.
-
That's a really good point. His mom's always run it from Seattle, hasn't she? I am sooooo happy Jackson and April are getting back together. The show can end now.

I'm reluctant to discuss Danielle's health issues from a "maybe it's psychological" point of view because so often women are dismissed that way - sometimes with tragic consequences. But what if the symptoms are stemming from stress or depression? I 100% believe she has the symptoms. But I know very little about her family growing up - her dad doesn't seem to be ever mentioned - and IF her mom has a chronic alcohol problem, it might have been a very chaotic household. Even if not on the surface, there could have been an undercurrent of day-to-day insecurity. In which case, it wouldn't surprise me that it was manifesting physically if she's never had a chance to deal with it all yet. She may have been one of those kids where the child-parent role was reversed. And it's not uncommon for someone who grew up in chaos to be controlling later. This is all just guessing on my part.

Thank you!!!!

I feel so sad for Tyra. She seems more like her old likeable self- mature for her age in some ways, and sincerely trying to make things work. But wow, they've been together since what? Middle school? I'm not surprised Alex is champing (Chomping?) at the bit - that's awfully young to settle down with one person. But still, it sucks. And the way he's handling it - distant and snarky - is unnecessary. That may be his cover for uncomfortable emotions, but it's still not kind.
-
Yup. The early years were interesting. How many people get to see quints grow from being newborns? That was nice. That was the reason for the show. But now it's just (snooze) most of the time, although there are still moments that are fun. And again, I like them, but ... On the other hand, I teared up a little at the end, because it sure felt like they were saying goodbye.
-
I like the Busbys, but at this point I think the show should be renamed "Out-Tripped." I liked it better when they were just at home, living their daily lives. The trips are getting boring. With all the girls now in school and likely going back to in-person school soon if they're not already there, it may just be the show has run its course.

Whenever I see Guy Pearce, I think of the line "With a wrecking ball" from L.A. Confidential. This show could use a periodic lightness break, like the teenagers being questioned last episode. It's sometimes too relentlessly bleak.

rethinking my take

Does anybody else get thrown off by the fact that the very sick and dying people look so robust? I think it keeps me at a distance. I know it's a sitcom - but I'd guess the BBC or HBO would have people look sicker. They're just too healthy. Maybe one way to compensate would be to put people in clothing that's too big so they look smaller.
