  1. Today is the big day for Jessa and Ben -- does anyone know what time the wedding is set for?
  2. Your entire post is quite bombastic. I don't know if you're being serious or just funny -- but you had me in stitches at Jill "is quite the vixen" and "flung her head back". And then the bit about being a " hot pot on simmer until marriage and couldn't wait to hump his bones" perhaps more than Derick -- was just hysterical! You should be writing recaps, seriously.
  3. I hate to say it, but many Millennials like Jill are pretty narcissistic when it comes to this.
  4. Why am I not surprised at this? Typical of Teresa to indulge in anything her kids want. Hasn't she said that Gia is her best friend? Gia needs a mother, not a best friend who will finance and cater to her whims. This woman hasn't got a lick of good sense. Gimme a break -- that video is way too provocative and adult for any 13 year old girl to be in.
  5. Exactly. You can't pull off "shabby chic" in a mega church setting. That really only works in a rural old country church setting -- and probably for only up to 200 guests max. A barnyard wedding would be cute for what Jill was aiming for, but even then her guest list would need to be shaved down to about 350 to accommodate seating and parking. Could be really cute with benches and picnic tables which JB and the boys could easily build and then finish off with a distressed look -- and then do double duty by actually providing SEATING for your guests at the reception. Who doesn't provide their guests with seating at a reception?? Bottom line, you can't really pull off a "shabby chic" wedding for 1,000 guests without the right venue and the only appropriate venue I can think of that can accommodate that number is a vineyard and no way is JB going to go for that. Well, unless that vineyard only produces grape juice a la Gil Bates.
  6. Frenchtoast, The reason you're seeing posts referring to past episodes is because 75% of this episode's content is made up of flashbacks of previous episodes. There was roughly only 10 minutes of fresh content in about 42 minutes of this episode.
  7. Good question. If he was a coworker of mine, I'd find it annoying. Derick is probably the nicest guy in the world, but if you're not at work because you're doing an interview in NYC -- um, no. Unless of course it's earned paid time off. I guess he's been at WM 6 months now?
  8. I don't, but I'm inclined to like him already.
  9. Those beach flip flops look well-worn. It's such a fetching look with that big 'ol Autumn scarf. Hysterical. Then there's the photo of Michelle wearing that ugly lime green button down shirt with the ever modest white panel at the top peeking through. #enchanting
  10. bigskygirl, I noticed at the very end of the clip that it looks like Jill's wearing the flip flop sandals that Jessa wore in her wedding, along with the belt. Funny. These Duggars sure are cheap, I give her points for consistency. Ha.
  11. GEML, interesting article here that sorta ties into your post. http://www.salon.com/2013/07/02/my_year_of_modesty/
  12. Ramble, no need to apologize, I'm so glad you shared your experience. It sounds like you've been through a lot and I'm sorry you had to go through that. I'm glad you're in the process of being set free. I'm with you, I'm sad for those who are raised in Gothardism. I do see pieces of hope that some of the Duggars, as they move away from the day to day influence of their parents, will begin to see the mercy and grace of God. Not saying this will be the case with all of them or that it won't take time. I see changes in Josh and Anna and I hope their stay in DC will be long because it's been good for them.
  13. She's barefooted with a sexy pedicure, I mean one with sparkles and bling. J/k
  14. Not a bad idea, really. I give the Duggars two thumbs up if that's how they're paying for their nuptials. So many people go into a marriage with wedding debt if say the bride's family give the bride five or ten thousand dollars to put toward the wedding instead of footing the entire affair -- which doesn't go very far unless it's simple and small. Typically the Duggars and Bates have a wedding reception in the church fellowship hall with cake, punch, nuts, and coffee vs a wedding dinner and alcohol at a specific venue which is where the majority of the budget goes to. I'd personally rather see people go for simpler weddings and use the budget on a down payment for a house.
  15. Wendy Feldman is not an attorney. She is a legal coach and crisis management "expert". Heh.
  16. I guess D and J are amused with themselves when they practically fibbed that they were pretty sure they were having a girl when they posted this clip on YouTube last week.
  17. I doubt they would admit to valuing celebrity. I think they believe they have been chosen by God to use the medium of television as a platform to teach people their beliefs about God as a testimony to the world. Maybe they see the financial benefit as a by-product to living out their faith on the small screen? Not sure. No one can argue the fact that it provides them with very healthy income and opens opportunities that would otherwise be closed. I just think that they view education as a threat to their belief system because they learn in a very rote pattern that doesn't allow them to think for themselves or explore new ideas. This bums me out for the kids.
  18. How could I forget? Just smack me with a faux leopard Gucci bag to jog my memory, puhlease.
  19. Thank you for that perspective, GEML. I confess I do not often think of the families that are more dysfunctional or worse off since I'm not exposed to them. I'm sure you are right that although the Duggars seem extreme to me, that this is not really the case when you look at fundamentalism as a whole. And I would guess that the families that are theologically similar to the Duggars have it vastly different from this family as they don't have the resources, media attention, and opportunities that being on a hit tv show provides.
  20. Because she's special...she didn't understand what she did was wrong. Because she's promised that she's going to read every word before she signs anything in the future. Because it was all Juicy's fault. She just didn't realize that she needed to disclose all her assets before going to court last time. Because she pays her taxes. Because her daughters need her. Because she works hard in all her businesses.
  21. Thanks GEML for your thoughts re; tithing. As much as I enjoy poking fun at certain aspects of this family, I confess I find their lifestyle choices sad and fascinating. However, I do think JB is doing all he can to financially look out for his family and provide for them with their future in mind. I'm sad that he doesn't see the value in education and look outside of his narrow worldview to see how a college education would greatly benefit the lives of his children to take them further in life. I could see how much joy it brought to him as a dad to provide Jill with the beautiful mansion to live in and help furnish it for her. Sure, it's probably his way to have some control over Dill, but I also see it as his way to help set up Jill and Derick for their new life together. He sure has a sweet spot for Jill.
  22. Normally I would say something to the effect that now that prison is in Tre's certain immediate future that all the forging, lying, signing, failure to pay taxes, etc.she's done for that big tacky house, furnishings, and clothes isn't worth it now that she's going to the Big House and will be separated from her kids for 15 months. But you know what? I know darn well if she thought there was a chance to get away with it, she'd do it all over again. And no way she's committed to a squeaky clean life after she gets out.
  23. It's starting to become all too real for Tre and she's squirming. Love it.
