  1. Goodbye John Milhiser and Noel Wells. http://www.deadline.com/2014/07/saturday-night-live-noel-wells-john-milhiser-leaving/ These firings are different for me because I follow all of them on social media, and I've gotten to know them in a different way. In previous years, I didn't give a damn about the firings of Paul Brittain, Jenny Slate, Jeff Richards, etc. But the new cast members' heavy social media presence* gave me a different look at them. (*The reasons I didn't remember Beck Bennett this season was because he rarely used social media, so oddly he never left an impression on me.) But....I'm glad tha a lot of people are going because, unlike some of you, I want new cast members this season. And this will increase the possiblity of new additions. I think there should be new additions every year.
  2. So long, Brooks Wheelan! https://twitter.com/brookswheelan/status/488821599936606208
  3. Erin Andrews replaces Pam Oliver. Thoughts?
  4. Jost promises to be funnier next year. http://nypost.com/2014/07/05/colin-josts-plans-to-fix-snls-weekend-update/
  5. Just saw They Came Together, in which Amy Poehler sits across from Bill Hader the entire movie (with other things going on, of course). Kenan is in it, too. And then there's this:
  6. Barbara was also on Jimmy Fallon a few weeks ago. And she's on the Oprah Winfrey Network for an hour on Sunday night for Oprah's Master Class. That's 4 big appearances in the 44 days since she retired. I did expect her to return to TV occasionally in retirement. But, wow, it's like she can't stay off of TV.
  7. It was reported in May that it was canceled -- reported by Radar Online, though. The Wrap, which is more reliable, reported a few days ago that Hello Ross! is unlikely to be renewed. It is produced by Chelsea Handler, who's leaving the network after dissing everybody there. But he's supposed to continue doing E! red carpet stuff. http://www.thewrap.com/es-hello-ross-future-uncertain-due-to-chelsea-handlers-impending-exit/
  8. It's crazy that The View never had a millennial. Millennials -- those born after 1981 -- are getting older. Yet Barbara never tapped one of them. They replaced Elisabeth, who was 36 when she left, with somebody 5 years older. I thought that was the point of The View, to have one young person.
  9. Why do the VH1 Classic reruns go back to 1998? What's so special about 1998? Monica Lewinsky? (Also, it was weird seeing Lewinsky on SNL just a few months after Clinton's impeachment....yet I saw it when it actually aired.)
  10. It had been reported for months that The View was going to get rid of Elisabeth....I think they told her to look for a new job. Once she found the Fox News gig, she was gone immediately. But it was odd that suddenly, in the middle of the week (as I recall), she was gone after so many years on air. This article says Jenny was fired and Sherri wouldn't take the new contract. http://www.thewrap.com/inside-the-view-exits-sherri-shepherd-rejected-abcs-final-offer-jenny-mccarthys-contract-not-renewed/
  11. Friday's show, featuring the triumphant return of Barbara Walters after 6 weeks of retirement, was taped Wednesday.
  12. Erin Andrews' 2 best friends are Chrissy Teigen and Brooklyn Decker. And what do you know? Her 2 best friends get to guest host on back to back days.
  13. We'll see. Oldman is a friend of the Kimmel show, having participated in many taped bits. His last appearance was just 4 months ago. So maybe Kimmel goes soft on him? Or perhaps allow him to have his "Jonah Hill Apology" moment. UPDATE: IT was addressed... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANpttfdbe9s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caUint9Axwo
  14. Meyers is off next week, too. (All the talk shows take 2 week breaks around Independence Day.) I seem to recall reading somewhere that Portlandia is filmed in June.
  15. Which is maybe why they are being so cagey about Nasim officially leaving. Maybe Lorne won't officially say she's gone until Mulaney is picked up for a full season. Perhaps she'll be on part time next year. I mean, don't cast members officially leave SNL when their pilots are picked up? In this case, it's unusual since Lorne is her boss on both shows. She signed the 7-year contract, right? Does being on Mulaney totally void that contract?
  16. What I want to know is if Nasim will return if/when Mulaney gets canceled. I read that Mulaney was the worst received of Fox's new shows at Upfronts. Also, Fox's Entertainment president Kevin Reilly, who saved Mulaney after it was rejected by NBC, was just ousted. (Reilly is/was known for being loyal to shows/actors. He stuck by Mindy Kaling and Andy Samberg despite their low ratings.)
  17. Of course, we're all pulling for Tracy. When I first heard the news, which was really early Saturday morning, I didn't really give it a 2nd thought. Then I remembered all the joy he's brought me. And my Twitter feed has been blowing up with well wishes. Chris Rock... https://twitter.com/chrisrock/status/475366897828245504 Steve Martin... https://twitter.com/SteveMartinToGo/status/475352371997212672 Conan... https://twitter.com/ConanOBrien/status/475680721634603010 And many, many more.
  18. I'm sure the toilet was clean, but it still was weird that she didn't wash her hands afterwards.
  19. Couple random thoughts: --Jenny Slate was on Kimmel a few days ago, and will be on Conan in a few days to promote her new film, which has gotten a lot of buzz. I wonder if she'll visit Seth, or Fallon. --Who did Justin Timberlake like better, Jimmy Fallon or Andy Samberg?
  20. But Lorne loves Kenan. He really, really loves him. More than Seth. A few years ago, Howard Stern aired a 25-hour documentary series called "SNL on Stern" featuring all his interviews with SNL cast members over the years, sprinkled with Lorne Michaels' fresh commentary. And Lorne said himself, he loves Kenan. He absolutely adores him. Other cast members say Kenan is the only cast member that consistently cracks him up. I can't imagine Lorne letting him go out in the wild to fend for himself, unless it's a sure thing. Look at the other cast members who've stayed for a long time in recent years. Fred Armisen (2002-2013) is now on the Lorne Michaels-produced Portlandia and Lorne-produced Late Night (and it was Lorne who came up with the idea of him being Seth's bandleader!). And of course, there is Seth Meyers, the poster boy for sticking around too long. Anyways, I hope Lorne shakes up the cast. But I doubt he will.
