S40.E01: Chris Pratt/Ariana Grande
nowandlater replied to BoogieBurns's topic in Saturday Night Live
I like the promos, too....BUT as I mentioned on the other site, I've noticed the promos getting longer and longer. Years ago, these promos would be like 1:30 to 2 minutes. This is 7 minutes! To edit or not to edit? That is the question. -
The Wishlist: What We'd Like To See & What We Expect
nowandlater replied to vb68's topic in Saturday Night Live
OK, I did a little digging, and I've uploaded a clip from "SNL on Stern" in which Lorne gushes about Kenan (followed by an interview with Kenan). *FYI: SNL on Stern is a 25-30 hour radio documentary that ran on Howard Stern's Sirius channel in 2011, featuring 30 years of interviews with SNL stars, plus fresh commentary with Lorne. A Stern producer interviewed Lorne, not Stern.) -
The Wishlist: What We'd Like To See & What We Expect

Statement from TMZ: I think that Lorne and SNL don't like cast members announcing they're leaving at the beginning of the season because they don't want it to turn into a season-long swan song. It's okay to announce before your last show, but not before your last 20 shows! I mean, does Kenan get extra "What Up With Thats" this season? It just becomes a distraction. -
The Wishlist: What We'd Like To See & What We Expect

TMZ said Kenan intends to leave after this season. An SNL spokesperson responded by saying the report “is inaccurate as the season hasn’t even started and cast decisions aren’t made until the end of the season.” But the SNL spokesperson totally dodged the TMZ article. If he intends to leave and he's not contracted for next year, Lorne Michaels and his "cast decisions" don't matter at all. The TMZ article is about Kenan planning to leave. The SNL response is about Lorne making casting decisions. Two separate but not unrelated things. -

I followed the Bills when Marshawn played there. I remember them going 5-0 (2008?) and finishing with a losing record. Yeah, the Bills are always gonna be the Bills.

Yeah, sounds like classic PR strategy. All day yesterday, there were reports about how the Ravens had emergency meetings in preparation for this article. So they have no response, so the natural thing to do is to say it's wrong without going into specifics.

"The Daily Show": Week of 9/15/14
nowandlater replied to trow125's topic in The Daily Show With Jon Stewart [V]
Wow, I didn't even think they'd acknowledge Che leaving for SNL. And they did it the best way possible. -
I don't get it. The NFL said this Thursday package, especially the CBS portion, would have more compelling games than the shitty NFL Network package. And here we are in the 2nd game with this snoozer. The point was to go with all division rivalries. Well, there were many other NFC South matchups that would've been compelling. You could've seen this stinker a mile away. CBS got ripped off.

Of course Darrell Hammond impersonated Don Pardo in the past, but I had no idea this was him. https://screen.yahoo.com/james-van-der-beek-monologue-000000339.html -

So Darrell Hammond is coming back as an announcer, not a surprising choice. Hmmmm...but doesn't SNL need somebody to play Bill Clinton...hmmm... -

Which sites? I heard some NBC affiliates listed him as hosting the season premiere, but that was clearly wrong. -

Bill Hader as host. Yes. But better than Bill Murray? -

Pete Davidson was 7 when he lost his father, an FDNY firefighter, in the World Trade Center on 9/11. Read this profile of Pete's dad: http://www.silive.com/september-11/index.ssf/2010/09/scott_davidson_33_firefighter.html -
Correct me if I'm wrong, but based on some research: First cast member born in the 60s: Eddie Murphy, age 19, joined December 6, 1980. First cast member born in the 70s: Jay Mohr, age 23, and Sarah Silverman, age 22, (both born in 1970) joined on Oct. 9, 1993. First cast member born in the 80s: Casey Wilson, age 27, joined on Feb. 23, 2008 First cast member born in the 90s: Pete Davidson, age 20, joined Sept. 27, 2014.

Only Deadline refers to Mike with his middle name (I've noticed that before). I'm glad there are still people my age on the cast (Bobby Moynihan, Kenan Thompson). Incidentally, it appears he's mixed-race. He implies it in his standup. http://www.mediaite.com/tv/snls-newest-hire-i-dont-even-know-what-race-i-am/ (I care about these things because I'm mixed-race, too.) -
But Jost wouldn't have been on Tina's episode. And since only 2 of those 6 new cast members will be back (on screen, at least) then you probably are better off not remembering any of them.

1st cast member born in the '90s. He was born 2 months into Sarah Silverman's season and 2 months after Conan O'Brien launched his talk show. -

But will Che not appear in any sketches? I mean, it would be interesting to see him and Jay Pharoah do something together? I think that 1) Lorne loves Colin like he loves Seth. Colin's been around for almost a decade. And it would've been unfair to throw him into the WU fire in midseason, then yank him after a few episodes. Yet he needed to make a change. A bold change! And so Cecily was out. I remember Cecily going on Jimmy Fallon's show her 1st season. I mean, how many 1st-season cast members go on a talk show during their first season? She seemed like a big deal. And that's why she got the WU promotion last year. (But last year, and maybe I'm wrong about this, but it seemed like Cecily got eclipsed by Kate McKinnon -- even though Cecily got to do that Jeep ad.) But what do you do about Jost's seeming toolish-ness? I have this weird feeling that Che will eventually become a solo act. -
Billy Eichner Makes His Late Show Début
nowandlater replied to Primetimer's topic in Late Show With David Letterman [V]
I find Eichner about 60% annoying, particularly on Parks and Recreation. But I've never seen that big a smile on Letterman's face. Wow.
