  1. In defense of the writers, unReal is an odd beast because the plot is basically an anthology with each new season but the characterization is more serialized. You can do a workplace drama, but this is like The West Wing if Bartlett was leader of an alternate version of America each season. The only thing tethering the show together is the Quinn/Rachel relationship which is great, but if Jesse/Walter is the model, Breaking Bad had Skyler, Saul Goodman, Gus Fring, Mike, etc. who lasted multiple seasons. I can't blame unReal for trying to build supporting characters through Rachel/Quinn's lovelife (How much drama can you get out of Everlasting hiring a new makeup artist or editor or cameraperson?), there isn't really another entry point because Everlasting contestants/suitors will be reshuffled each season.
  2. I just accept that Bonnie's more a cartoon character than real person. Otherwise, the list of bad things she's done would make her completely reprehensible so plot holes don't matter to me. I'm glad they've resolved everything with Danny/Riley. Sam's not a real comedic character. What about bringing back the blonde girl from Bunheads who acted like Bonnie? She was a talented comedic actress.
  3. This week's flashback weren't as bad as the first episode's but to have the flashback be part of some empowerment message doesn't really fit a horror/mystery. Also, the show grinds to a halt whenever the Deputy and Sheriff are doing their investigation.
  4. IMO, it's pretty clear Yael has some kind of agenda outside of winning whether it's an expose or not. And I'm reasonably certain that whatever Yael is up to is at least connected to what will be jaw dropping. Also, I'm willing to be proven wrong but unless Ruby comes back somehow, isn't it obvious that Tiffany is winning? None of the others have had any real time with Darius. I'm not sure Adam will go after Yael IMO it's easy to confuse Yael and Rachel in the quick cutting of the promo. I think Adam's scruffy look means that he stole Rachel's "African AIDS baby" idea. I don't think this show would do a dream season, even a dream episode strikes me as unlikely. Overall, while I've had a couple problems (Fake Mom, I'm looking at you), I don't think this season needs to be excised.
  5. The scene with J/Baz at the end was effective and the first time I thought the show used Speedman well.
  6. Aubrey had two lines and I loathe her more than everyone else combined. Even Brandi, who I think is just overreacts as a defense mechanism or gets catty because she knows that's good TV, like her remark about Josh. Aubrey is just selfish and arrogant. Also, Jessica for some reason never gets called out for her negative energy. Willis was right. The guys try to have fun with it, and then the women just suck the joy out of the process. Also, Willis's interview gave me an insight into a certain type of serial cheater. I was struck by his "disappointed" reaction to being cheated on. It strikes me that he doesn't understand why monogamy should be important rather than anything malicious.
  7. What about Sarah H's supposed "secret mission?" I'm 90% sure being dumped by Daniel isn't the plot of a LeCarre novel.
  8. We don't need to vote for Trump because now that Quinn brought Adam back America is already great again. I thought this was a good episode overall. The show had gotten a little loose. We got back to the fundamental journey of the compromises Rachel has made to her soul and what she can live with, but still using the vehicle of Everlasting effectively.
  9. Natalie is the worst actress ever. Everything in that confrontation scene and then at the Elimination ceremony was clearly fake. Also, the tradition that the main guy gets mostly good dates while the main woman gets losers - or guys edited to look like losers - continues. I think I saw the second date's lips actually move once for the repeated "nice nice" s. I think they got lucky with Chris and Kerri last season. Even though they weren't my cup of tea, I think they resonated with most of the audience. But I agree that the original format was better. I do prefer the new host.
  10. This was better but only in the sense that drowning is better than getting eaten alive by fire ants. Maybe because the flashbacks were at least barely interesting. I still think that the acting is much better than Scream.
  11. Josh supposedly called Andi a whore and that he didn't want her to work. My feeling on the matter is that they both likely said nasty things to each other. Brandi does come off as reasonable. Who is this person?
  12. I'm really growing to like this after only being ifffy about the first couple. These people are the sum of their bad choices and their guilt causes them to dig even deeper. It's lurid but at the same time deeply sad.
  13. I really like the entire cast. They are trying to sell this with everything they have, but the story needs more drive.
  14. Like last season, it looks like the guy gets a series of knockouts while the woman gets a carnival of freaks.
  15. I was definitely surprised to find myself siding with Brandi. Pauly D was incredibly rude to the guy with the shoes in the first episode. IMO, that was far worse than even Willis asking to go back to the bathroom.
  16. I find John's obsession annoying, but given light social media research, virtually every other cast member other than Stephen is on his side. That says something IMO.
  17. I strongly suspect that Smurf notified security. She needs a reason to hide the profits of the deals from the boys so she can keep them under her thumb.
  18. The flashbacks are terrible and randomly inserted. Amy's not an interesting protagonist. I don't care about various love triangles or the secrets involving the other counselors.
  19. I didn't expect a Simon Rex sighting. Calum's story was really heartbreaking. Am I crazy or is the advice on this show actually helpful?
  20. Can someone from Kaitlyn's season join JoJo's like Nick did last time? I don't even need Ben Z. I'll take JJ or Clint.
  21. You might be right. The Chad'sEgo Twitter, which says it has no connection Chad but seems awfully knowledgeable, tweeted that Daniel was struck by lightning while shaving in Paradise.
  22. When Alex turned out to be a bully, I felt like Charlton Heston at the end of those 70s Sci-fi movies, "You were right, Chad. Dammit all to hell, you were right all along." I like Wells, but if this were a Dickens novel, he'd die next episode. I have no doubt Daniel's a fool, but his exit interview had so many audio cuts it was like a parody of reality show editing.
  23. Chad's a nut, but he's entertaining.
  24. Sarah Gertrude Shapiro joins the long list of showrunners (basically everyone but Vince Gilligan) who should never talk about their show. The Marti Noxon bad blood is fine. That's probably creative ego's butting heads. And I don't mind her attacks on Lifetime execs, that's punching upward. But the stuff about Josh Kelly is completely unnecessary, and that's coming from someone who's been very critical of the character.
  25. I know that on all reality shows people are given free alcohol, but the people here are so obviously intoxicated that it removes even the appearance of reality.
